  1. help me out folks. I want to watch Supercross and it's not on Speed Channel. what channel is it on in the Dayton-Springfield market? when I look in the guide for CBS, it only shows news will be on at the specified time. thanks in advance.
  2. i hated that this show was the same weekend as the AMA round at Mid-O last year!
  3. i have a set of beatup Frank Thomas leathers in size 38 (red, black). there was some alterations done (shortened at the wrist by about 1" and some crash damage repaired. (keep in mind that the Frank Thomas brand is the bottom of the barrel, so if they are for a youth, i wouldn't use them for anything other than a day at the kart track.)...
  4. mechanical/aerospace engineering. hands down. i was making six figures within 5 years in this discipline. if i could do it all over again, and do the things that you aspire, i would go to the IUPUI program in Motorsports Engineering. they have an undergraduate and graduate program. they set you up in the motorsports industry, give you the right education, and introduce you to all the people. remember, MMI gives you "training". programs like the one at IU is an "EDUCATION". training is easy, but to really master things that go fast, you need to understand the concepts of why and how they work, and give you the tools necessary to improve a design to to create your own. check it out: http://www.engr.iupui.edu/motorsports/ good luck!
  5. and you rightly shouldn't! motorcycle transmissions are not built that way! the teeth on the gears are not cut to allow such. you'll find yourself back in the pits with a motor full of metal bits!
  6. Brian-- probably worth mentioning/introducing the mental aspect of this process. specifically: mentally slowing down the turn by looking "through" it. i should have chimed in during the "entry" thread with the following, but here goes: on entry, i try to take a mental snapshot of what's about to happen. i identify the reference points, the apex, and ensure i know the general direction i'm going. once those things have been placed in my brain, i can then "slow things down" by piecing it together into one smooth action, constantly looking ahead and out to where i want to be. if at any time in mid turn i let my eyes/brain concentrate on anything in the near field, my turn goes to sh!t and i bumble through it. maybe you can put a better spin on my ramble. i thought it was worth mentioning. --justin
  7. youtube "Devin Townsend Project".... epic metal indeed.
  8. nope. (but, to be on the safe side, i'd expect you to at least be able to do a 1:50)
  9. see if you can find a CBR400RR ('88-'94 or so). i believe it was a japanese market only release. i think they look awesome!
  10. dude, just come borrow my Baxley chock and be done with it! (i'm kinda disappointed no one else has mentioned it!)
  11. lifelock does all of the above and more for me... only 9 bucks a month full membership via the company i work for!
  12. i could help you out if you come out to springfield. shopdog ryan is in your neck of the woods, i believe, and he could likely assist you, too.
  13. thanks Brian for the reassurance. sounds like i'm worried for nothing!
  14. http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2631152#post2631152 i posted this on svrider, but wanted folks from my local forum to chime in as well. anyone got an idea on whether this is how the swingarm is supposed to be? thanks!
  15. i was. schmuck. hoblick's right, though, it's not very competitive. best i can do at CRP is ~:55-:56's, and I'm ringing that darn thing's neck. the internal gearing is so short, and i end up waiting for the bike to get in the power band. the 4-strokes definitely have the advantage at CRP.
  16. racetech calculator has never done me wrong. what did you put in for your weight? i'd say a 1.0 would be good for a 200+lb rider...
  17. I run this exact same setup with OMRL in the F1 class (your competition is the CRF150R 4-strokes). You could also have fun bumping up to the supermoto class with this bike.
  18. you ride on the track? ...i haven't seen you there... : poke :
  19. thanks guys. sounds like this might be the thing to ail my wintertime maintenance blues!
  20. i assure you that all of the mid-ohio coaches are capable of running better than a 1:45. also, we are constantly on the lookout for riders who may be in over their heads with the group they are riding. our job is to manage traffic, watch for safety infractions, and provide assistance/guidance to riders who want it.
  21. fellows, i'm looking to get a large forced air heater, maybe something like this: http://www.heater-store.com/portable_kerosene_forced_air_heater_heatstar_hs175kt_2880_prd1.htm my garage is a 30x40 shop and i want to be able to work on the bikes and trailer over the winter without freezing myself! any recommendations on kerosene v. propane? other brands, etc. thank you! --justin
  22. what kind of bike is it that you think will fit you better? sounds like you already have the perfect middleweight bike!
  23. i have a track only SV650... would that be worthy of a trade? or do you want to still have a streetable bike?
  24. yup, definitely a great riding season. the new Mid-Ohio management team is great. hopefully the Mid-Ohio racing series catches on for next year!
