  1. You still railroad, or something else? I've not heard good things about life on the IORY. And Josh1234, yeah 16+ hours in a hotel, you find ways to entertain yourself.
  2. This is a tempting offer... I assume title is in order?
  3. I have my can of soup for the engine tonight - it was cold last night. I'm thinking water tank. Where do you work, Sambusa?
  4. I figured - to be honest, my wife has almost every one of those on DVD... I'm ashamed to admit that...
  5. I don't know that I'd want those movies on any format...
  6. I've said it before, that first bike is a tightrope... you need to get something easy to ride to learn on, but you'll probably get sick of it... $1000-2000 will buy a turnkey bike you can learn on, but by the end of next season, you'll want something different, I'm sure. $3000 is a much better budget for a bike that kind of rides the fence on easy to ride but something you can grow into. Just my $0.02. Of course, I'm the idiot mooshing a Virago and a TL1000R together.
  7. Well, guys I thought I'd share. Railroaders are notoriously cheap, and today I think I earned my stripes. My new goal is to spend as little as possible while away since I get a $20 meal voucher for each trip. Here we go... Step 1: Raman Noodles. Unfortunately, in Indianapolis, we stay at Holiday Inn Express. At North Baltimore, we stay at Extended Stay with a full kitchen. No kitchen here... Step 2: Coffee Maker. This is the closest thing I found to a kitchen in the hotel room. I wonder... Step 3: Loaded the coffee maker with water, loaded the urn with noodles and seasoning. Step 4: Start the pot and wait for it to brew. NOTE: I did not put coffee in the maker. Just raman noodles. Step 5: While waiting for my noodles to... brew?... I tracked down some "dishes." The fork is from my lunch box. Step 6: Half way through brewing, removed the noodles to... stir everything together. Back into the maker for the rest of the brew. Now, I eat my raman as noodles, not soup, so... Step 7: Drain into sink. Finally... Step 8: Two styrofoam cups of raman noodles to enjoy! Yum! Believe it or not, taste just as good (bad?) as if I made them on the stove. I win!
  8. Man, I miss mine too...we had a rocky relationship, but boy was it a great bike.
  9. If I didn't have the Virago, I'd be all over the Seca - if I was single and didn't have to answer to 109 pounds of fire and brimstone, I may still buy it. Fortunately, my wife has more common sense than I do.
  10. Welcome! What's on the docket for the CBR?
  11. How do you know the cam is broken? Which engine does this one have? Thanks!
  12. Do you have a pic of the master cylinder?
  13. I'd be interested in just the front wheel and rotors - PM if you'd split them up. Thanks!
  14. Well, haven't had an opporunity to work on the bike, but have been doing a lot of planning. It's funny how projects have a way of evolving as we work through them... I'm leaning more towards a street fighter style than a cafe racer. I've been tracking down items from a TL1000R/S to graft on - first the forks, now I have a rear shock and damper. I also plan to use the front wheel and brakes, and rearsets. Instead of making two Virago style wheels (front one custom with a TL1000R hub, Virago style spokes and rim) where both front and rear are 16", I'm going with TL1000R style wheels (rear one custom with a Virago style hub, TL1000R front wheel spokes and rim) where both front and rear are 17". This will allow for more modern tires, although with a 3.5" rear width and the Virago swingarm, I figure I'm limited to maybe a 140 or 150. I'm re-christening the project 4X7R - 4X7 is the Yamaha model code for the Virago 750. Once I get in on Monday, I should end up having a couple of days off and I have a garage full of new parts to lay with! Pics soon!
  15. I won't be eating at McDonalds anymore because I'm sick of their limp, greasy fries and weak coffee... or am I missing the point of this thread?
  16. Interesting. I'd never own it, but I appreciate it for what it is.
  17. Tim - thanks in advance - just looking for a rough estimate of the entire central hub (where the spokes connect in the middle). Basically the part where the sprocket and rotor mount. Hope this helps!
  18. Hey guys - thinking through the Virago plans and wheels. I wonder if one of the members who owns a TL could measure something on the rear wheel for me - I'd like a rough diameter of the central hub. Don't go and take it off your bike, unless you have one off already. Once again, just looking for the diameter of the center hub. Thanks in advance guys!
  19. "That outfit is very becoming on you... of course if I was on you I'd be..."
  20. Welcome! Always good to have one more!
  21. I hate to be a downer, but the kind of money you'll get from an Avenger won't buy you anything much better and it certainly won't leave you with money to fund your motorcycle or wedding. You've described a thousand dollars or more worth of stuff wrong with the car - I say drive it til it dies. At that point, scrap it and buy something new. Hopefully you're in a better place then. Also keep in mind college students shouldn't have nice things. Keep a beater car, get a beater bike. Have a blast with both, and don't care if your drunk roomate knocks it over... don't ask...
