Might take another swing at the carbs on the honda today, despite being rebuilt they leak gas. I'm starting to suspect my floats aren't as buoyant as they were 40 yrs ago....put in new jets yesterday and I think I got it tuned in pretty good.

I was thinking that too, or maybe the exup valve....If it has one it should start to open around 4k....maybe it's noisy.

Your tensioner should be automatic but it's possible it has stuck. Very easy job but I would check for rattles in the body work mirrors etc first. You can also tell if the sound is coming from the cam chain by using a screw driver as a stethiscope. Put the handle to your ear and the tip to the cam chain. If it amplifies the noise, you've found it.

I had a 96 camry xle v6, loved it....till it blew up because the timing belt was installed incorrectly by a shade tree mechanic....but fuck I loved that car.

You must have got a good one. Lots of complaints online about transmissions going out in the first 25k miles.

Could be vibration in the fairings....The fact that it's at a certain rpm leads me to think that something is resonating at that rpm and vibrating. Turn your idle up till it a at 3k and start pushing on things until you feel the vibration or hear it stop.

Need low miles. Less than 20k. She puts a lot of miles on her vehicles and this one needs to have less than. 100k on it when it's paid off.

Selling my 98 camry 2.2 4 dr auto. It's not pretty. It doesn't smell fantastic. It has its issues but it has never failed me. 197k on the clock and counting, as I drive it every day. Exhaust is loud. Shift cable broke and has been rigged with a battery clamp; it goes into every gear but park. E brake works fine. I have new shifter cable, just never had it put in because this works for me. It was the delivery car for my mother in laws deli, the back seat is stained with every manner of spilled food. Cloth interior. Body is 8/10. Very little rust, one dent, missing some clear coat on rear quarter panel. A/c needs recharged. The heat will run you straight out of the car. Have replaced in the last 3 years: Valve cover gasket, thermostat, o2 sensor, all struts, stab links, wheel bearing. Needs an allignment. Driver side back door handle broke off last winter due to door being frozen shut. It's a beater. It gets me to work every day without fail. Selling because wife wants new car so I get her 07 sentra. $1500? Make offer?

Buick is out of our range. We are leaning heavily toward the subie after reading reviews for both it and the kia....lots of issues with the kia, major stuff breaking before 55k miles...not so much on the legacy. We also found another legacy with less miles for less money but not as high of trim package...

Built a glass pack for the honda, also rebuilt master cyl and put on steel lines, rebuilt carbs, re jetting if jets ever come...

Red, you only get 1 motor with the elantra. A 135 hp 1.8 i4. I know subbies are renowned for their safety and longevity, and I really liked the car. Whatever we buy will be serviced on time at the stealership.

Drove the elantra, liked everything but the motor...that thing was gutless. We don't do base model, the Mazda 6 we want is out of our price range. Will try the cruze and focus...but I'm weary of American cars...I've had problems before....

Time for a new 2nd vehicle for me and Mrs skullcrusher. Our budget is around $20k. So far we've driven: 2012 kia optima, completely loaded, 20k miles, $19,900. We loved the electronics, the cockpit layout, the interior, trunk space etc and the motor/trans. It's not a CPOV so the warranty is only like 5 yr/60k and that's about all that's holding us back. 2014 Mazda 3: Hated it. 2013 subaru legacy, 15 miles, $25,000 FANTASTIC motor/trans. Interior was nice, looks great but lacks a lot of the bells and whistles the kia had...no nav, no touch screen, no backup camera. It is a CPOV and has a 100k mile warranty...but the price is a little more than we want to spend. Thoughts? Suggestions? Other vehicles to look at?
