  1. New bike, new clutch. No point in replacing new components. Stiffer springs are also not needed. Sounds like as previously mentioned you need to adjust properly. Find factory spec for lever free play, it's usually 5mm or so. You should be able to shift without the clutch at high rpm, just put very little pressure on the shifter, chop the throttle briefly and pop it up a gear and get back on the gas. If you can do this with no problem, I'd take a closer look at clutch cable adjustment. If you can't do this, the issue is with your transmission or your coordination. Also helps to know what bike you're talking about.
  2. Got the bandit back in one piece today, new front brake pads and lines (sheared off when it went off the trailer) and new battery. Fucker fired right up, took it around the block my dad lives on and then it started raining. Vintage hondarocket also fired up instantly. Hope to get them both home soon.
  3. Ordered valves and springs to go with the new fork legs for the vintage Honda. Once everything is in my garage I'll snap some pics before and after. Free rides on her at the meet n greet, but the clutch was slipping at full chooch last year... shit, guess I better order a clutch kit too....
  4. I'll try that. Part of the problem is I am very unfamiliar with cartridge forks, I'm used to old damper rod style. Gotta wait for my seal driver to be delivered before I do this anyway.
  5. Also it says that stock progressive springs need a lot more preload because they aren't properly rated for the individual rider, so by that logic I should need less spacer than the difference between the two.
  6. Got a set of sonic springs for my bandit. They are a few inches shorter than stock. Came with pvc pipe to cut for spacers. Instructions say to cut spacers so they give 1/2" preload when installed, and to calculate this by putting them in the fork, measuring down to top of spring, then subtracting length of top plug and adding 1/2". Thing is, they're cartridge forks and the springs are pre-loaded by the cartridge itself. Anyone have experience with this?
