  1. I have a 2011 Impreza Outback Sport and just love the damn thing, it is a 5 speed and I rarely drop below 25 mpg and get as high as 31 on the slab. I am at around 72K and all I have done is just the recommended services, the car has just been bulletproof so far. With a proper set of tires these cars are like snow moblies, the only thing that even comes close to their limits is ground clearance, and even then most times it still makes no difference. I hear the new engine with CVT is just as fast if not faster than the old engine and tranny, it just lays it down differently and is deceiving how fast you are accelerating. I really like the Outbacks, and would likely go that route next time.

  2. A lot of police work is reactive rather than proactive. It's the nature of the job, like paramedics. Do you expect them to just know when to show up before someone is robbed or assaulted? The proactive work you'd most likely never see or hear about because they prevented something bad from happening so unless it was a big drug bust or something, it wouldn't get air time on news, etc. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't add value but it sounds like you have a very negative view of law enforcement and it would take a lot to change your views. So what happened to you that made you feel this way - get a couple of driving awards?

I have no connection to or special affinity for LE and there are certainly those in that community that abuse their position but to categorize them all as glorified admins who solely prey on the public for revenue is ignorant.

Well said......and I have a feeling were Police to all go on strike and not go to work for a good while, things would go to hell very quickly. Maybe something like that is what it would take for some to realize that most of law enforcement are good folks? Yeah the blue line exists......but who/what is worse, that or how out of control and corrupt our politicians are in this country?

  3. Absolutely. However, your dad's shining service record doesn't get put in place of dead innocents. That's not how it goes. When the police stop murdering innnocent people WHEN THEY HAVE FUCKING TASERS AT THEIR DISPOSAL we can begin to remember the good ol' days of community policing. Until then, your father's Brothers In Blue need to hold each other to a standard that is higher than that of college fraternity fuckbags.

You are allowing a few bad apples to ruin the bunch, yet that is all many focus on anymore. Were the majority of law enforcement asshats and corrupt, things would likely be even worse than they already are. Too many people are flat out pieces of shit, and even when police encounter one suspected of being a piece of shit, they are used to dealing with those who are pieces of shit. Yeah they get calloused and hate people, my Wife can relate after working ER for 15 years.

  4. 664 is a great intermediate road for sure. Linking it with 374 is great, they "X" each other and are joined by a 4-5 mile stretch of 56 between South Bloomingville @ 664/56 & 374's end at 56. That stretch of 56 had road closed signs up after some monsoon season damage, I suspect 1 of 3 bridges washed out. Chapel Ridge Rd parallels it but is NOT a novice road, off camber decreasing radius turns pop up unexpectedly, and it's very narrow.

374 has some more advanced sections than 664. I prefer to hit the twisty hill climbs uphill, so I always do 374S 56w 664n basically is the simplest version of what I love/recommend (my standard route is based on 374 s - big pine Rd e - 664 s - 374 s - 56 w - 664 n - 374 n; I skip the combined portion of 664&374, running up to both intersections but not on the combined 664/374 stretch)

And you do all of that on an archaic bike......impressive.

  5. Sorry I had edited and added to my post before you quoted me, and depending on her riding experience and how well she can ride, I would only stick to back roads "county roads" until she is really comfortable. Has she done a riding course or anything similar? I don't want to sound like an asshole, but if she is not a pretty experienced or comfortable rider......stay off the super twisty roads until she gets some miles under her belt.

  6. Atlas perhaps? Seriously, you are gonna have to venture at least 30 minutes minimum to get to some fun twisty roads from Columbus. Head East on 33, and take your pick of where you want to explore, the entire Hocking Hills area is a hoot. You are gonna be gone a helluva lot longer than 2 to 3 hours for any of the fun roads in Ohio......just sayin. You need to get out and explore, you are missing out on some kick ass riding in this state. Why not hook up with the folks that do the "Epic rides" that is your best opportunity to meet folks here and to ride some sweet roads?

  7. Well it is time to list my trusty 1000, has been such a great bike and I have really enjoyed it. The Wifey says I can't have 2 Stroms in the garage, and to be honest I have only ridden my new 650 since I bought it. So I will list below some of the farkles that I have, but I have taken off a few items and already sold them. The bike mechanically is fantastic, I am the 4th owner but know the last 2 owners very well. Cosmetically you can tell it is 9 years old and is not perfect, as I have ridden it instead of washed and waxed it. Has some scratches and a melt spot on the dash from a stupid resistor on the grips getting too hot. I am upfront and honest and have nothing to hide, and I will answer any questions or concerns truthfully. I have never dropped this bike, but I know it has been dropped "once" by one of the previous owners. I always average in the 40's MPG wise, and it runs so smooth with the new WERKS clutch basket. I am asking $3800 or best offer, and it currently has 24,447 miles. Thanks for any interest, and I would love to find HODOR a good home. tango_face_wink.png

I believe that is all, there is no owners manual and I have a spare key made. Thanks for any interest, like I said the bike is not too bad for an almost 10 year old bike, and with less than 25K it has MANY miles left.
