Alot of the crashes I have seen were also avoidable with skills you can get a track day/coaching.

2000 Miles on an R1 is equal to 20,000 on a normal bike. No human body should be folded up like that.
These will be track miles so not that uncomfortable.

Zero shame.
And it's racist to judge someone based on color so let me live my life! I self identify as yellow
Every year I say im going to do a regional championship and always make an excuse. Last year we had a kid middle of june, but I made it to vintage days the next weekend, thats the only sprint race I did. However we did most of the endurance stuff.
This year a new to me bike, different way of riding and half the races are at grattan and I have never been there. I might do the last half of the season or something.
-
2 places you meed to hit up this year is summit main and nc bike.
Nc bike to get your lean on, get some confidence and work on body position.
I think there is alot to be learned from following a cr into t1 at summit and getting used to late braking. Ron can work with you allll year

Maybe, I've got 1.0's in the forks, and I'm not anywhere close to using all the travel. Thanks for the reminder, I need to look at that before I go out again.
@RonStopable @Jester_ Any ideas on how I can use more travel?
There is a lever on the right bar that looks just like the clutch lever.
SQUEEZE IT!
For real these things stop fairly well you just need to really squeeze that lever once to see what its like and adjust markers accordingly.
Especially on a 1k you have to get direction at the slowest part of the corner and use that power to make time.

Yea but did you win your mock race?
I'm legit sad for Ron, Bill, Craig, and Brandon. No chance now unless Ron, Craig and Brandon upgrade, and Bill gets 10 years younger.
I am going to put it in rain mode from time to time to screw around with everyone.

I will have no problem with that kink at mid O. Pirc T15 and T16 are gonna take some balls to get through fast on this thing. I seemed to do well there on the r6 even with the rear chipping away out of 15. Just hold it wide open from the exit of 14 and dont let off until you start to exit 16.
The entrance to 3 is going to take some adjustment at mid ohio.

I stay in I and race in N because bragging rights and trophies are life. What group you got them in is irrelevant ?

I could move my bars with one finger pretty easily. I'm excited to make that change because I feel it will help me loosen up on the bars a bit.
I gotta get good at the liter fundamentals, Brake, point, shoot
You and me both. I think once I get used to the power I could do some damage on this thing.

For sure dont focus on the bump just practice the fundamentals. You will probably make up more time worrying more about brake and throttle inputs than body position but thats important as well. I didn't know your damper was set low
-
Ya the oem quickshifter is very smooth.
When I put the dash on race mode you cant see that stuff haha. But you can connect to the bike woth bluetooth and pull some data of you want. We just need you up in A.

In October I traded my ol R6 plus some cash for a 2015 R1.
It was stock aside from and exhaust and tune, but I bought some brake pads, take offs, and body work and headed down by NC Bike to do the trade.
I got the bike at 5 and was at the track by 6 tearing it apart.
I spent the evening swapping tires, and body work. Ended up with a bit of a half and half bike by the end of a late night\early morning.
Ended up getting out for the 11am session and rode 4 sessions before I had to pack up. I was there by myself and was on a new to me bike on stock suspension (springs, fluid everything) and needed to get home for work monday morning and it was an 8 hour drive or something like that so I took it pretty easy and left early. Was still able to run some low-mid 30s which is 4 seconds or so off my best on the R6 but I was happy with that for the first time on the bike and getting used to it.
Plans for the winter for me are send out the stock forks and shock for proper springs and refresh. I bought a bike side flash kit from FTECU as well as an autoblip. Got a different tank shroud which changes the shape of the gas tank a bit and also getting the CCU (integrated gps lap timer from yamaha) and hopefully get the bodywork painted if I have any money left over. Got some clip ons, radiator\oil cooler guards and woodcraft key eliminator and driven gas cap setup today from @RidersDiscount . There are probably some things I am missing, but doing the basics to turn it into a track bike.
Pumped to learn this bike this next year, its going to be a big adjustment.

Just a thread for normal BS topics centered around track riding to help pass the time.
What you did to a bike this winter or where you are looking to go.

I have a Baxley, makes strapping easy. BUT my life could be easier. I want to save that 5-7 min it takes to strap the bike down each time. Multiply that by however many track days, then multiply that number by 4 (strap to go to track, unstrap, then strap to go home and unstrap at home.) At least that's how I'm rationalizing it.
Which brings up another point, I'm a professional rationalist. If you need help rationalizing that purchase your wife and/or significant other initially said no to, I'm your man!
When you get the pins with the setup you can throw it in the toy hauler with ease. I think im gonna buy non azn some pins just so I dont have to strap his bike in anymore and fit 3 bikes easy.
Btw pitbull stands ftw. Second choice is the new woodcraft stands.

I used to do that but the same people showed up to every day so I quit after awhile haha.

Free Trackday July 2, 2018

I think it started way back with Craig @blue03636....
But there is a term of "stuffing" someone into a turn, and someone had double stuf oreos. And so comments and jokes had started and so it just became a tradition thing. But this was all before my time and how I understand it started.
Last year @TRMN8TR and I had a double stuf endurance racing team with FB page. You never know where you might find an oreo... on your bike, in your exhaust, in your leather, go pro case etc..
When we travel for a track weekend it really is an amazing time.... grilling and hanging out with everyone asking questions and telling stories about what happened on track that day. If anyone gets a chance to tag along for a long weekend I promise you wont regret it.
