Anyone know where I can get custom paint mixed and put into an aerosol can in Columbus....or Ohio? I'm painting my seat cowl and front fender. I tried Color Rite and I'm not happy with the color match, which is pretty pitiful considering their name.

Personally, I have compared both when asking the same question during my purchase, and the Black edition's benefits far outweigh the added cost. The video is just sooooo much better with the Black vs a Silver. The wireless remote is nice, but I don't use it much. I prefer to use my smart phone because it acts as an LCD screen with the GoPro app. And I'm not sure if that is exclusive to the Black Edition, but if the Silver edition doesn't allow smart phone connectivity, I wouldn't even consider the Silver. Just my opinion based on experience.

Dibs on the boots if still available. What size is a 46 equivalent to?

My (future) uncle's journey on the Appalachian trail

Very cool. Thanks for posting! I have had plans to do this for years. I even have the official maps and guide books from the AT club. It's a hell of a task to take on, but amazing I'm sure. Have you, or has he read Bill Bryson's "A Long Walk in the Woods"? It's a great travel story by a great travel writer when he takes on the AT. Very good read. I wish him luck and some trail magic! -
I'm in for late April. Tires, sag and brake pads....though I can probably do my own pads while the rims are off the bike... Either way, if it's late April I'm there. Going to the Gap first week of May.

I am planning to repaint my seat cowl and rear wheel well under pan. The seat cowl fell off last year and got all scratched to hell and the wheel pan is a mess for obvious reasons. So I've been doing some research into online paint manufacturers/ mixing companies and I'm trying to decide which route to take. I don't have a compressor and gun yet, so I have to use aerosol.....for now. I figured it was a good way to learn before I invest in the gun and rest of the kit. So my questions are these: Is there a better place to get paint than color rite? Is NAPA a good choice for matching paint? I know their prices are better, but I want it to match. Any suggestions or experiences you guys can share that would help?

Oooooo....I forgot this weekend is RotR weekend. I'm exactly the same mindset. The ONLy band on the list that I'm interested in seeing is Fuel. Here's to Fuel on Friday!

I'm probably in, but I am going to THE GAP the weekend before so I may have a hard time getting that next weekend off from the ol' lady. But I might be ok. Count me in as a strong maybe, and I'll probably ride with the fast or next to fast group.

Mink Oil

Yeah, I've seen the display. That's what caused me to look into it further. I have played with that display probably 100 times, but never have the balls to put it into a fully functioning engine.....especially with a wet clutch. From what I could see, it doesn't affect the friction. Just makes it adhere better, like you said. Which I thought might be even better for a wet clutch. We'll see here in a couple months, I guess.
-
Thanks Hellmutt. I think I'll give it a try. That's what I needed was some firsthand experience.

Good info here guys. So Recon Rat, are you saying adding Lucas oil stabilizer has an added benefit, no benefit or worse, could cause damage? Do you use it (or an alternative) in your bike?
-
Just curious if Lucas oil stabilizer is an ok additive with the wet clutches in sport bikes. I have heard a lot of good things about it and have thought about putting it in my bike. Seeing as it isn't supposed to create less friction and instead causes the oil to stick to internal parts, I wondered if maybe it would help the clutch plates grip even better and provide less wear. Any experience with this?

I guess I'm just going by personal experience. I bought an 03 last year with right around 13k for $3700 that was practically in mint condition. So yes 15 is not high, but I guess I'm just thinking for the money, less mileage can be found. I think the price is on the high side of fair, but a good starting point. Will be a harder sell this time of year, but as you can see by the thread I'm posting that I bought my bike from, posting in January to sell in May isn't a terrible idea. That is if you're in no rush to sell. ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/99055-fs-2003-gsx-r-6/

Lotta miles for that price. Maybe the track bodywork thrown in justify it, but in the dead of winter you'll have a hard time selling it at that amount.

If nobody joins my ride, I might meet you in Millersburg.

Planning to ride this weekend and the weather looks amazing! 76 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday and sunny. Route is up for debate, but I plan to get done miles in cause soon I won't be able to get any miles in. Meet at KFC in Newark at 11:30am and we'll head out from there. Be there or be sad in January! No window bashing with helmets allowed!
-
Yeah.....that was a great ride. Beautiful weather, no incidents, perfect roads! Wish we could do this for the next six months.
-
Yeah, I'm still in. Weather is too nice not to ride. See yo in a bit.
-
Nice! I love my GSXR, but I think I'm going back to Kawasaki. My next will be a 636 or a ZX10r. Post up and hopefully we can get a ride in before the end of the season.
-
What did you get? Better get out while you can. The weather isn't going to hold out for too much longer.
-
Let's do KFC at 11:30. I was thinking since we are hitting 668 that meeting South might be alright. But I'm coming from the North now. So, KFC works better and we can just take Brownsville rd out of town. So KFC @ 11:30....prepared to ride.

Ah, "The Pace". I see. 40/150. Got it. I don't want to speak for Hutch. Cause he rides differently than I do. But I don't know of anyone that rides a more consistent speed through the corners than he does, especially on his sumo. I on the other hand probably go faster than I should on the straights occasionally. But slamming on the brakes in every corner is not something I do. But if you notice there's only a 25 mph difference in the speeds I posted which is fairly accurate, and the bracket raises and lowers depending on the skill level of the group.
-
Oh... there will be a pace. And with Hutch and I, it sits around 85/150 to 110/150..... that is if I'm deciphering your code correctly Casper. Typically people don't fall asleep on our rides. Route is one of my favorites. Take 668 down to where it hits 93. 93 & 216 for a few miles to Glouster where we'll get fuel and subs I'd people are hungry. Then hit the beautiful 78 to 669 back North. It's an amazing route. Best I've ridden. Hope to see everyone ! Now that we're going south let's change the meet up to route 13 and 70. there's a BP there right off the exit.

Hahaha....I didn't even see you taking pics. Good ride man. I can't believe how fast that thing is on route 60. Feet hanging off like MotoX and everything. Good stuff. See ya Saturday!
