  1. ya know what they say about guys with wide rear tires... The same that they say about guys with porsches.
  2. Found this doing a search on the place. I live nearby so I thought I'd give em a try. I got some gloves from them, they did their best to make sure I got what I wanted. But recently I ordered some tires. They called me telling me they got them in, and to tell me they changed the size on me. I was a little agrevated so I waited a couple weeks to cool off. Then I got over it and brought in my wheels. They changed them (seriously gouging the lip on one), I noticed they didn't balance the rear (no weights) even though I paid the $25 on each wheel to be mounted and balanced. I put them on, and guess what.. big time vibration. fucking ass hats. Now I have to take them off and bring them back to see what else they can fuck up.
  3. Caging my way to work this morning I saw a new rider on intersection of Cin-day/West chester rd. Brand spankin new 650r, the rear wasn't even scuffed (still had the paint stripe). Left turn lane.. This person stalled it when the green arrow lit, found the starter pretty quick but was too flustered to make the turn fully, ended up coasting to the median playing with the throttle and clutch. I was stressed out just watching since I'm new too, the feeling is still very fresh. However there is a time and a place to learn the basics.. public roads at rush hour is neither of those.
  4. Don't remember which channel it was last night, but they were covering a guy that does frisbee "trick shots"... tossing it through a mall. They said he was tossing his dick down to the first floor.
  5. If it's an 4wd IFS truck in my experience balljoints do go bad at least as often as the bearings.
  6. Welcome! I live/work in the loveland and West chester area. Quite often I'm up in Springboro, middletown, and dayton for work too. I haven't ridden up that way yet though. Still on my temps too, but sofar I have put about 1000mi since I got the bike late last year. The weather has been forgiving. One book I suggest is one a friend picked up: Proficient Motorcycling, By David L. Hough. It's got alot of info that, once you have a little experience under your belt, will help you keep the rubber side down. One big thing is, your light weight bike might respond to you just leaning over into a turn, but bigger bikes need more steering input to lean at road speed so it's best to actively work on "countersteering" early instead of developing habbits that might get you into trouble on your next bike. Things like that I always try to keep in mind when I'm riding right now. Also a tip I heard about BRC walk-ins.. They may allow you to sit in on the classroom portion even if the class is full. If the weather looks poor for the days of the riding portion they may get alot of no-shows those days, and you can slip in and take their place since you would have already done the classroom portion.. As long as you aren't averse to getting rained on.
  7. meh I like my sks better than any ak I've shot. Though it's far from factory
  8. Yep sort of like when leaning over on your bike, you ride up the side of the tire effectively reducing the size of the circle. So you need to give a little gas to spin the tire a little faster in order to maintain your true speed (preventing engine braking) through the turn. A theory I read from David L Hough's "Proficient Motorcycling"
  9. IMO they don't look cheap, just rugged/enduro. Like you're riding out to alaska or something. I was thinking about putting some on my ex, and maybe slap on a dirtbike front fender to complete the look. but opted to get cheap soft bags and leave it at that. Appartment life sucks, can't have much powertool fun anymore
  10. A tire that deflects has an effective circumference of a circle with the same radius as the point of max deflection. The "flatter" the tire is it will travel less distance for the same rotation. That's why they say fill your tires up for best MPG. However the guy said "going 80mph" not "the speedometer says 80mph" so tires and the effect on the speedometer has nothing to do with it.
  11. Have some parts on the way so hopefully it will be running within the next couple weeks. The PO pointed out one of the 2 points were missing (screw and all) and the wire was pretty neatly cut. Seems like sabotage from one of the many hands this bike has been through. It'l be a simple solder job to fix though. The apex seals, akin to piston rings, only last as long as oil is being fed to them. Since the bike uses oil injection in the intake for seal lubrication, if/when that system fails there go the seals... so rule #1 is check the injection oil reservoir lol. It's pretty big though so it probably takes a while to run out.
  12. At my office us guys get one stall (the delux model) and one urinal.. the women get 2 stalls. I mean come on, if you are going to go 1 less stall atleast put 2 urinals!! It's fun when a douche decides to camp out in our only stall. I usually try to use a normal stall before a handicap but if I need to spend 10min cleaning up after the previous person.. in the handicap I go. Also I am a little averse to "sitting next to someone" since one time a crazy dude totally pissed on the stall wall next to me.
  13. I don't know how many I've built in my day, but anymore if I can get a decent deal on a Dell I'd probably do it. If you can get a 3 or 4yr warranty on the whole thing it's nice. I've got experience working with Dell support from work so I know their process. With DIY there is a seperate warranty on each part. It is so anoying to deal with I just end up replacing the bad part on my dollar. Also for a laptop get nothing less than a 2 yr warranty, very preferably 3yr. From my experience by the 3rd year stuff starts breaking on them just from normal use.. mostly the power port and network jack if you use that often, the display ect.
  14. Tough, but doesn't seem impossible. There seem to be several dedicated sites. One big hurdle seems to be finding spark plugs. The plugs in these are very specialized
  15. Don't you have to drill out some of the orifices in the forks so the emulator is doing the work instead? I though I read about that when I was looking into emulators
  16. Cool hope you like em. Only other book of his I read was On Killing. it was pretty creepy for a nonfiction. His books can get a bit exhausting since I feel some points are drilled, but it's worth it to get through them. On Combat seemed perfect mental preperation for CCW. Things to keep in mind when training. To be prepared for and empowered by the crazy things your body does when in a real "him or you" situation, and how to cope with the strange things that go through your head in the time afterward.
  17. Yeah vids I've seen of norton rotary bikes.. the pipes start to glow. Probably comes with the territory. When we talk about complication compare it to the Hercules W2000. It was a much more simplified design for a rotary. Air cooled vs the re5's water/oil cooling. And i believe it just used premix instead of "oil injection" the RE5 incorporated.
  18. It's a monstrosity of a motor, looks like suzuki had to put on fix after fix on it to get it to be what they wanted. Like CSC said, overcomplicated. For example the exhaust temps are very high so it has a huge heatsink manifold to split the one output into 2 pipes, and an elaborate double wall pipe system with an air inlet to keep from leaving charred skin behind. Basically the consumer didn't trust it, so they sold extremely poorly and suzuki about lost it's ass for it. It's a bike that has special needs, and for those who can't cater to them, or bought it used from a PO that couldn't, they have problems. Others say they are dead reliable. I just think it's neat, and the price was right.
  19. Most of he recipies I've come up with myself have been all extract brew with the blended LME from williamsbrewing.com. I've done a decent all extract attempt to mimic Arrogant Bastard Ale. Besides that I mostly do kits from the local shops (listermann, or paradise) Yeah, yeah..Been riding the EX when it's light out and not at work. Maybe I can run over to the storage unit today when the rain takes a nap.
  20. Yeah my dad lives in Anderson. He just shoots the air rifle through an open window or from behind a cracked outside door. Alot of the noise is kept inside the house.
  21. Since I like projects I picked up a not currently running '76 Suzuki RE5 tonight. Came with hardbags, trunkbox, touring fairing, and a like new seat. But best of all it's a rotary! No pics yet since it was dark by the time I got it in storage, but soon.
  22. Sweet, I always liked the idea of using ammo cans. But it's a good way to immediately add 50lbs to the rear.
