  1. 374 is fantastic. The stretch of 56 over to 664 has an awesome sweeper section. Debris on 374 is frequent as is tourist traffic (lots of minivans!)

We will be there Saturday at some point. Ed will be on the Guzzi. I will probably ride the 1098 since the project bike is still in pieces. Or I will ride Ed's Monster. Project bike Yamaha XS400
  3. We've bought several used iPads from Glyde.com and they've worked out great. They sell phones on the site as well.

  5. My husband actually did tell him that. Well at least the sorry to disappoint part.
  6. My husband and I got pulled over for doing 57 in a 55. Trooper said he figured we'd run. Asshat. So moral of the story is sometimes you will be pulled over even if you aren't doing anything wrong. But, it sounds like you know your speedo is accurate. We both use WAZE while riding and it shows our speedos are both off a little bit. Although I'm assuming that WAZE is mostly accurate as well which may not be true.
  7. What kind of bike does she want? Cruiser? Standard? Sport? Does she even know? Whatever you do, buy something really cheap and ugly (or pretty if you can find it) but runs decent and then you can upgrade later.
  8. I have a brand new Bell Bullitt helmet - in white. size XXL, but it can be changed to XL by swapping out the $19 liner. This color is not being discounted like some of the others. just did a check and I cannot find it advertised for less than $399 This helmet has never been tried on. Never worn. Sticker still on the shield. have original box, helmet bag, stickers and manual. Asking $250. Will ship but you pay for shipping. Will take paypal. thanks.
  9. Find babysitters you trust. Thankfully my mom has been around for us and we've trained some local babysitters along the way. While they are infants, getting out is really a challenge. Especially if your wife is nursing. I won't go into the details but doing normal stuff is a challenge while nursing let alone riding. Once they are a little older, it's easier to get away. Once they are sleeping well and not getting up during the night, it gets even better. My husband and I do overnight trips and pack on the miles instead of the more frequent Saturday and Sunday rides we used to do. In the season, we typically do one overnight trip a month and one 3 day trip (2 nights) a season. Our overnighters are usually down to Athens/Hocking area and we stay in Marietta. We usually do around 250 miles each day. We consider them our date nights where we find a nice hotel and nice dinner. Then get back up and ride again the next day and then head home. Now that both kids are older (6 and 9), we have several babysitters who will watch them while we do 5 or 6 hour rides to Coschocton. Having said that, we still don't get out as often we'd like. We try to balance home time, kid time and motorcycle time and it's always hard and usually you feel guilty at some point to one or all of the above.
  10. I rode up until my gear didn't fit anymore @ 5 months with my first and probably for about 2 months with my second (then it snowed so it worked out). Mary
  11. Thanks! The 9th was our anniversary. Some couples go out for dinner, we go for a ride.
  12. WV 3 day Trip Sept. 8, 9 and 10. Finally made it! Day 1 · 47 - just a connector to 16 · 16 south - 16 is fun but it's still a hodge podge of good surface and bad. Took it to RT 4 · Rt. 4 was curvy but kind of crappy pavement and I don’t remember exactly why but I was glad to be done with it. · Rt. 15. Very curvy. Fun. Varying pavement but lots of new. Would do it again. Stayed in Elkins here: https://attheforks.com/about/ 6 room hotel. OK rooms with a GREAT view. Restaurant was fantastic!!! Best steak we’ve had in a long time. We were quite pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. The inn itself has very little curb appeal but it’s fine inside. Day 2 · From Elkins 33 south to about Hinton and then turned back around and did it again. This is a must do road in the area. The part in VA is a blast although the pavement is much nicer in WV. · 250 south of 219. The northern part had lots of construction. They are repaving a lot of it but it’s in various stages. One lane for about 4 miles?? I think they will be done with this in a few weeks so it will be great then. 250 south of 28 is fun and it is CRAZY ASS GIGGLE worthy fun south of 220 in VA. OMG! I changed my route plan for day 3 so we could do this part again. Did I mention crazy fun? There a few really tight turns with varying camber so be aware!!! Stayed Staunton, VA here: http://www.stonewalljacksonhotel.com/ Beautiful historic hotel in a really neat city. A little pricey but it was nice. We ate at the Shenandoah Pizza and Tap House. Good pizza and LOTS of craft beers. There were at least 5 other cool places to eat within walking distance. Day 3 · Hit 250 back up north to 220. It was just too much fun to not do again. · Took 220 to 39 north. 220 is not my favorite road but there are a couple of nice sections through the woods. · 39 in VA is another amazing road. It is just a blast. Nice pavement. Very little traffic. Very little residential or incoming roads. 39 in WV is still fun but more traffic and you start hitting cities and houses in sections. · 16 from 30 to about RT 4 is in crazy bad shape. I think this part must’ve gotten hit by the flooding as I don’t remember it being this bad. It was never perfect by any stretch but it was a lot worse. · RT 4 to 36. Rt 36 just starts off with a bang. There’s about 3 miles or so of really fun turns. It’s still curvy after that but the first part is the best. We got lost and had to sit through a parade so we had to cut a good portion of our last day off because we ran out of time but overall, the trip was great. WV and VA have some great roads. Did just under 900 miles. We trailer to Marietta so that is our start and end point and not included in the mileage. Must do list: · 33 south near VA best part · 250 south of 220 is crazy! · 39 just north of 220 is a blast!
  13. No, it was on the plan and then it start raining like crazy so we tried to shorten the route as we were just about done for the day. And then it cleared out but we were already way past it by then. We're going to try again another time. Now I'm trying to find 3 fairly nice days in a row to go WV. My work schedule is really impeding my bike travel schedule. Darn work!
  14. We made it out to some of these roads but of course it started raining so we bypassed much of it. I like 141. It was actually fun just wish it wasn't in such a residential area. We tried to pick up 217 from 141 after the rain stopped and there were detour signs so we took some weird road trying to bypass it and ended up just in front of the detour. Luckily detour signs don't apply to motorcycles and we just went through. The next day we picked it up again from the beginning and road it through. Very nice road but it was crazy dirty. Like giant piles of gravel and mud. Must've gotten hit hard with the storms a few days prior. I'd love to try it again some day when it's cleaner. It was fun area though. We liked it.
  15. Yeah, well originally I was looking at the 848 and 675 so a little closer but the 1098 with a dry clutch just sings to me plus it has more power. Regardless, the 675 is a great bike. Nice powerband and just a really well balanced bike.
  16. I've ridden one before and loved it. I was actually considering one until I got the 1098.
  17. I'm 5 ft 2 and can ride just about any bike out there except for some of the really tall adv/tour bikes. Well, I could ride them, it just wouldn't be pretty stopping. Slightly lowering a bike (under 1/2 inch) won't affect it that much but I'm not sure if you really need that at your height. Setting the suspension accurately would probably help more than anything. I've found people have a tendency to set their bikes up kind of stiff although I'm lighter than most men so that may just be my opinion. I've owned a Hurricane, 600 F3 and a 600F4i and you really can't go wrong with a Honda. We've also had a 900, 929 and several Honda 600 race bikes and they were bullet proof as well. You say the bike has 30k miles. How many of those are yours? I wouldn't recommend moving up to a liter plus bike unless you've had significant seat time. I don't know what your budget is but the Daytona 675 is a great recommendation for something a little different. Also, 30k isn't a lot of miles on a bike and certainly not on a Honda. I've got 22k on my Ducati and I won't be putting it away any time soon. Good luck with whatever your choose. Mary
  18. So am I hitting the good parts with these routes? I have limited time each day and it takes a while to get down here but I can rearrange if I'm missing something good. Thanks.
  19. Thank you Denny. I think it was you but I couldn't find my notes. Mary
