How good are the polymer lowers? Do they last?
-
Where can I get a cheaper lower?
-
I was wondering if anyone on here had built one of these and what kind of luck they had with it. http://www.shop.hlfmanufacturing.com/Lower-Receivers_c2.htm

Here's a quick update for my 12R project. This winter I'll be installing these: Magnesium Marchesinis. 17 X 3.5" Front and 17 X 6.0" rear. They're going to be powdercoated black and then I'll add new tires and rotors and I'll be in business. I'm leaning toward Brembo rotors at the moment but I haven't made up my mind yet.

For the past several months I've been working on an idea in my head for a build and in the last couple weeks it's really come together (in my head) as to how I want to build it. I started tinkering on it a week ago and I had inspiration hit me this week that put this idea into overdrive so I'm gonna share some of it with you all before my head explodes. I'm not gonna spill the beans on everything about it, but I think it'll be a cool bike when it's done. It's based on my other M model. I know there's a few other projects being built right now that will probably blow this one away in several ways, but this one won't be a complete slouch. I promise.:rolleyes My brother and I are going to fabricate alot of stuff that will be unique to this bike. In fact we've already started that part. I plan to utilize a machine shop and sheet metal fab shop for much of this thing. If I'm lucky, I'll even have access to a composite shop for a couple small projects for this bike. The horsepower (I'm hoping there will be alot of it) will be traditional Kawasaki (no ZX10R swap or turbo's) and it'll have 39mm FCR's feeding it. Here's some teaser photos for you: It'll utilize quite a few ZX7R parts: We'l be fabbing many trinkets for the bike: It will have traditional bodywork hiding everything:

Best "straps" Or "tie Downs" For Hauling A Bike
2fat2fly replied to DerekClouser's topic in LBTS GLWS
I have an 18' by 102" enclosed trailer and I have tie down points set up for 4 bikes. I use the Pingel removeable wheel chocks, Canyon Dancer bar harnesses and Ancra straps. I've done it this way for many years and at least 10 trips to Bike Week in Daytona. I believe the Pingel Wheel Chocks came out in the early to mid 90's and the Canyon Dancer came out in the late 90's. It works well for me. Well enough that I won't pay to change it. If I buy another bike trailer I will possibly upgrade to the Pitbull system. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/200-794?utm_source=PLAs&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CPmEn5TvoroCFYg7Mgod9x8AAg http://www.canyondancer.com/Products.aspx http://www.bobscycle.com/ancra-quick-strap-tiedown-4500lb-red.html?utm_source=690FGL&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=My+Product+Listing+Ads&gdftrk=gdfV2585_a_7c688_a_7c10165_a_7c580312&gclid=CNjJ94HxoroCFcZAMgodYxQAcw -
I have a 2000 and you're more than welcome to measure it if you need it. Not trying to throw a block on anyone. I don't need the rack and hooligan volunteered first so even if you measure mine I'd like hooligan to get the rack.

Of course I forgot to mention a the Aprilia RS250, Yamaha RZ500, and RG500 Suzuki.

This is an open ended and loaded question. I could be all over the spectrum on my next bike so the first couple are the likely suspects, after that it's whatever I stumble onto first: Gen 1 or gen 2 ZX14 2004-05 or 2012 or newer ZX 10R And the targets of opportunity: Muzzy Raptor 1996 ZX7 RR 91-94 ZX7R 93 CBR900RR RC30 RC45 1986 GSXR750RR (LTD) 1989 GSXR750RR (RK) 1993 YZF 750SP I'm not really looking right now but if I stumble onto one of these I will try my best to take it home with me.

Moving Turned Into Most Stressful Vacation Ever
2fat2fly replied to gen3flygirl's topic in Daily Ride
You might be suprised at some of the people who read this. I would do an official report with the FAA if I were you. If nothing else you're covering your own butt. On another note, here's a company hiring pilots in the CMH area: http://rjet.com/en/Employment/Career_Guides/Pilot.aspx I work for them at the Columbus maintenance facility. PM me any questions you might have. And I'm glad you're okay. -
I'm from Jamestown (East of Dayton ) but I'm not in the state much due to work....

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet but Walmart is selling 5.56 ammo in the stores again. It's American Eagle brand and when I was at the Xenia store they had boxes of 1,000 rounds, 150 rounds and either 20 or 25 rounds. I thought it was 20 but the clerk said they were 25. She also told me the small boxes were steel and the 150 and 1,000 round boxes were brass casings. The 150 round was $69.97 and the 1,000 round was $447.xx.

If you would share those pictures with us I'd be eternally grateful. I doubt I'll ever be there in my lifetime but I'm a geek who's into history and I'm always curious about places like that and want to learn all I can about it just for my own education.

That's an awesome opportunity for you. Congrats. If you have the time I'd love to see the old WWII airfields and other historic things from an aerial perspective to see how they look today.

Welcome to the forum. Look around the sight, there are some neat builds hidden in different spots on here but I believe most of them are in the "tech and tips" section.

My weekend is done. I start back to work tomorrow at 5:00am, so I've had all the fun this weekend that I'm gonna have.

I suspect you're right. I'll be checking the voltages regularly to watch for spikes. Thanks for the idea.

I was thinking starter relay, fuel pump relay, ignition box, headlight relay and even started looking at a diode in the alternator as possibly being bad. None of those things were but I believe I found the culprit. This is a picture I posted earlier showing the alternator connector: Upon further review I found this: The white wire melted into the brown wire and powered everything constantly. This is really odd because these wires have been together like this for the last 22 years with no issues. Now I have it figured out and I'm happy. I can ride my favorite bike this weekend.
-
I pulled the starter relay out of my 93 ZX7R and swapped it into the 91 to find I still have the issue. I believed the problem to be the relay but this contradicts that idea. I also removed the fuse box and it didn't help. See attached photo. I tested the wires at the relay and found the white wire to be constantly energized. I followed this and it splits into 3 legs. One goes to the fuse box (which I already eliminated). The second leg goes to the alternator ( Since this takes place with power off we can eliminate that). Here it is at the fuse box: Here's the second leg where it plugs into the alternator plug: and the third leg terminates at the ignition switch which is unplugged. So I'm stumped at the moment.

All the safety switches still work (Clutch, sidestand and neutral) to prevent the starter from engaging when it shouldn't.
