Jeff, you planning on the 18th or sooner? If it isn't going to be your first trackday of the season, I'd think you would be fine in I. In any case the first session or two are normally pretty slow as everyone feels out the track.

Looks like the 18th is the day to be there. I'm thinking of hitting the twilight on the following weekend as well. I think there is a $50 rental fee for a garage and electric, can't find it on the website to verify the price. Not sure how it works with the race following.
  3. Don't quote me on this but I believe it has something to do with the response time or something like that. The red ones supposedly is more reliable at higher speeds, where if you take an orange one across the line at 160 it is likely to miss. No first hand experience with it, just what I read when I was looking at buying one. Makes absolutely no sense to me....but AMB has the timing market cornered, so they do whatever they can to screw people out of money. Why make a universal one that works for nearly all racing when you can make proprietary ones and charge people 3 times?

18th sounds good to me. Everyone talks about the track being at its best just after the races, so I was originally thinking of hitting the days following the races, but I'm game for either. Did you do a novice school? Normally they keep you pretty busy...not sure how you could get bored with the running to and from the classroom. My second trackday, i was bored between sessions, but that was because I didnt bs with anyone till the day was pretty much over. Once you start to know the people who are pitting around you, there isn't enough time in the day.

Dang. OhioRiders train at MidO! Mid-OhioRiders!
  6. If I can make it(avoid conflict w Motoseries) I can sweep a fast group or lead a medium as long as everyone understands the basics of a group ride. IMO 3+ epic rides is getting overkill...just post up a day or two in advance when the forecast is decent and you can get a ride going....smaller groups tend to be more fun anyhow. Last year I didnt make it out much, but all it took was a quick post anf everytime we had between 3-8 people. Best thing about it....less planning, better prediction of weather, and no chance to sit on the fence.
  7. Harbor freight foam cheapies.....$5 for a box of 50 or 100 or whatever. Used 1 box all last year and they worked better than all the name brand ones I have tried. Best thing about them; if they get dirty, just get another pair. I've been tempted to buy one of the molded pairs, but I dont see the benifit. Maybe if the foam ones bothered me, or fell out or something then I'd pick a set up.
  8. well if that bs goes into effect....anyone want to loan me a 250? Read up about it a bit last night and it does seem like the owner was understating much of the info....but the friends of rural life seems like a blog ran by someone with a personal vendetta. I really liked the "noise samples"....where there are video clips from NJMP not NYST.
  9. everything.... fix my electrical gremlin install exhaust, quickshifter and other crap dyno if the exhaust goes on lots more....
  10. Ron, forget the 675 and gsxr; this is all you buddy!
  11. Is that because you want to see someone else beat Kevin or because you think it will only take a session or two of coaching?
  12. google search for it and you will find how to's. you can softmod using exploits in certain games or hardmod by soldering a chip onto the motherboard...from there you can install a bigger hard drive, install software to rip xbox games, install emulators, install xbox media center....
  13. I'll have to look into Harry's again. Last year I picked up Trackmaster to try out and wasn't really happy with the results, seeming because of the crappy GPS sensor on my Galaxy Nexus. I was also worried about destroying my work phone on the track....not as much of an issue now that I'm ready for an upgrade. External GPS seems like the way to go using those apps. Harry's only has the basic version available for Android devices, but it looks like I could still use the data from that with something like DashWare to create video overlays.
  14. Thanks for the info Matt. Had no idea they required riders to start in novice...hopefully that doesn't cause an issue. You planning on jumping straight into expert in March? How was the wear on your front tire? Safe to assume you would be able to get by 3 days on a single front? I'm planning on mounting up a set of take off slicks and taking a new DOT rear in addition to my crappy rains just in case. Guess I could just take down another front as well.
  15. Everything I see on the website says it is transferable. It also says you can buy one additional as a gift, so I'd think there wouldn't be a problem "gifting" if you only purchased one.
  16. I was eyeing that one up that you bought....didn't know as much about them back then as I do now and didn't have the funds. The video overlays with telemetry are so cool. I'd end up blowing $1000 in linear potentiometers and pressure sensors if I had 8 inputs lol One thing I haven't found a clear answer on: The unit(or software) can calculate what gear you are in based on rpm and gps based speed....if that is enabled, does it use one of the data logging inputs?
  17. The data logging looks cool as shit and they seem to hold their value pretty well if purchased used and not destroyed(like lap timers and transponders). I've pretty much justified it to myself as a tool that would help get more value out the time spent on the track.....and then I saw the damn thing sold. I'll have to keep my eye out for another one.
  18. I saw you joined up with the Junkies....sadface. Have fun, hopefully meet up at one of the MotoSeries events this year.
  19. Nevermind, it sold.....should have just went for it last night instead of thinking about it.
  20. Anyone have experience with these things or any of the GPS loggers for that matter?
  21. Thanks Jeff! Hopefully it doesn't take long to get back to my pace and start cutting time. Jennings should help to knock the cobwebs out.
  22. Cannot wait for this! Think I'll be getting smoked in the 600 sprints this season. The 40 minute was a great way to get track time, but there wasn't really any reason to push or a carrot to chase with the small number of riders on track. Actually improved most and did my fastest laps during track days....then used to 40 minute to push endurance and consistancy wise.
  23. Ron, anytime you want to go to Grattan just let me know. I'm pretty much on route and would be more than happy to split the travel costs with you.
  24. Meant the groupon deal; never purchased one before and didn't know how long it stays available to purchase. Thanks for posting this by the way; can't wait to hit some new tracks.
