I am going to try to drop off the trailer (Ryans Hotel) on Friday night, which is when most everyone will show up. I only live 30 or so minutes from the track so I go back and forth at night for the most part.

casa de trackday.....don't need to make a special trip out on my behalf, can always toss up the tent.  It is nice having everything ready to go in the morning tho.

I'm planning to head down Friday night. I'm on the east side of CLE (Mentor), and have room for 1 more in my trailer if anyone needs a ride. I've got canopy/tools/chairs etc. if anyone needs a spot to pit.

Currently only planning to ride Saturday, but that may change. I'll probably camp out Saturday night and drink beer.

mmmm beer.  I'll see if I can figure a way to haul my extra canopy for a little more room in the shade.  You are going to get talked into riding BTW

No one down to caravan Friday evening?

I'd be down to caravan, but it seems like I can never hit the road on time.....something always comes up at work or home.

  2. If you can only make one, I'd shoot for whichever fits your schedule or has a better forecast.

I'll be there Friday evening through Sunday.

    Camping is covered by N2.

Bring some cash, they are having a fundraiser auction.....Last year they had some pretty good deals; I scored a set of chicken hawk warmers for $150 or something close.  Tools, bike stuff, leathers, track time, there was a lot of stuff....great food, great people, great time...

  3. Prepped the bike to drop the engine for some transmission work. Found out the battery for my 1/2" impact shit the bed while trying to remove the clutch basket retaining nut.  Stuck a 2x3" between the wheel spokes and broke it in half while trying to get the damn thing loose with a breaker bar.

  4. No way...tire removal & repave would only make sense scheduled together or rapid succession.  Then you would have to include future runoff & barriers before any paving action to prevent damage to the new surface.  Once it starts, track is completely down for awhile imho

  5. If you are going to "fix" your fiberglass fairings, do it right the first time....spend $20 on a fiberglass repair kit and read the instructions.  Don't slap 2lbs of bondo over the crack and expect it to hold.  Then when that fails, don't slather a 1/4" layer of silicone caulking all over the inside of the fairing.  And finally when that doesn't hold, don't get out pieces of aluminum and pop rivets as a last resort.  All that shit does is make more work to repair it correctly.

If you are actually interested in fiberglass repair and the rant didn't fulfill your needs, here's what I've posted previously:

After too long of a winter break, it finally warmed up enough to start working on the bike.

First, did some fiberglassing using this kit from 3m....seems to have worked well; at least better than 2 part epoxy thinned with denatured alcohol that I've used in the past.  Comes with the resin, hardener and fiberglass mat. Need to sand more before finishing up the glass tomorrow....then on to filler, more sanding and paint.

Quick rundown of what I did:

Sand down to the underlying glass if there is overspray/paint, blow off, wipe down with alcohol, tape off from the back(outside)if there are cracks or holes, cut the glass to fit the areas to be applied, mix the resin, apply a coat of resin to the areas to be glassed, stick on the glass and use brush pressure/pricking with light topcoats to saturate the glass...repeat.  I applied 2-4 layers depending on the damage and stress the area will see in normal use.

Yesterday I snapped a few pics to do a little fiberglass how-to....

The damaged area....as I was scuffing the bodywork for paint, realized the area was soft.  I'm guessing when the bike laid over, the fiberglass was pressed up against the exhaust....burning off the adhesive and softening the bodywork.  Cut the area out and sanded the surrounding area down to the glass.

Cleaned the area up with denatured alcohol inside and out....then put a piece of packing tape on the exterior...

    20150326_192912.jpg

Cut 4 pieces of fiberglass mat, overhanging rought 3/4" on all sides....cut the pieces first, the more work you get done before mixing the resin, the more time you have to lay the mat and resin.

    20150326_193207.jpg

    Mixing the resin...didn't need much

    20150326_193545.jpg

Paint a layer of resin extending a little bigger than the area to be glassed

    20150326_193707.jpg

Press the glass down onto the layer of resin....you don't have to coat with excessive amount of resin....it is more about compressing the glass into the resin already laid down.  I use a combination of pressing and plucking with the tip of the brush.  As the glass becomes saturated it will darken.

    Repeat...

After a little time to dry, pull the tape, rough up the area, apply putty or fiberglass, then sand and paint:

  6. Give any minimum requirements for the upgrade?  Probably takes up additional space than either OS.  I've upgraded mine, but don't remember.  Not sure if I'd do it again, no real improvement, and the drivers for my laptops dedicated graphics don't fully function.  I cannot adjust the brightness of the laptop without disabling a driver, then enabling it after the adjustment.

Currently a pile of parts in a pallet rack lol never put it together after the 750 swap.  Just bolted the subframe on and got the electronics in place yesterday,

Tank is OEM and in good shape, fairings will be interesting, I have my rashed set that will need repair and a back up I bought a long time ago that I never mounted up.
