I have a good front, I just don't think either rear I have will make it a day.
GPA pros from CJ.....debating with myself about picking up Brian's tires he has listed up, but I already have 5 or 6 rears that need to be used up lol

Based on the # of preregisters, tomorrow is looking like a good day to put in some work! Would love to see a 35 or two.

This free trial group is for the street rider who’s unsure about signing up for a full day of riding. The Intro group attends a Novice classroom session and gets on the track for two 15-20 minute Novice riding sessions in the morning rotation. There is no bike preparation requirement; however, participants are required to pass technical inspection.
This is what I found on the Intro group.
I'd imagine that intro group is led(towed) by an instructor at a pretty mild pace.....cannot speak from experience tho.

Either that or I've got a few takesoffs. I had a blast on Jeff's 650, think it would be a great option to reduce the tire cost(vs 600 & 750) while still pushing and learning. Only time will tell.

Not quitting, just changing things up.
I guess I will now have to wait until hollywood gets a new one so I know what to buy.

agreed, I enjoyed hitting a bunch of new track last year.....this year PIRC and Mid-O seems like all I've done

if we trade off driving and I can manage a half day before and after....then I'd consider it, but the outlook will have to be perfect

What time?
as long as the forecast holds, I'll probably get down there around 2-3ish unless something holds me up
-
Forgot my cert at home, so I'll just walk up. I'll probably be there a little early to check out the previous even and get all set up.
-
I wish....
If it was a Friday or Monday, I'd be in, but I can't burn that much vacation time for one track day.
-
If any of you need a bike to ride, I'll have either a 600 or 650 ready to roll by then....hopefully a yz250 too, but I don't think that will work too well on the big track.

currently 3 (YES THREE) signed up for advance group tomorrow and about a dozen for intermediate......sounds like a great twilight with as much open track as you can handle
-
I should have hung out Sunday, but the urge to race would have been too strong.
The South track is amazing....PIRC full and Mid-O are right on par with each other at this point IMHO.

Did someone say track pipe?!?!

Nice suit! You could always chop the sleeves off and screw up a zipper, that's what I did to mind before ever riding with it

The website still states on the track at the same time. If it starts at 5 and runs 20 min sessions, that's 3 sessions per 2 hours. Probably get in 5 sessions. Not a bad for the price. Do they accept walk-ins for twilight? I'll think about Saturday night.
Yep, as long as they are not full up.....which could be a concern being the weekend.
25 minutes ago, Limitedslip7 said:I hope that's the case, I would probably do more twilights if so. I can keep up an intermediate pace without too much of a problem but always feel bad for holding up the advanced riders.
I've heard it from multiple instructors and I think it is a great decision. 1 on 1, there is no reason a rider shouldn't be able to make a safe pass no matter the speed/pace difference.....it is when you start getting groups of riders that the pace difference can get dangerous.

Two this weekend!
Mid-O just recently changed it so there is separate track time for the A and I groups. 20 minutes on 20 minutes off(I think, haven't done one yet this year). I really like the idea of sessions for the twilight; still a lot of track time and separating the groups should increase the quality for both.

Nice lines!
Bet if you carry just a tiny bit more entrance speed into the top of the keyhole(to push a little wider & delay the second apex), your top speed on the back straight picks up a few MPH and lap time drops.
Looking forward to a twilight this weekend!

LMK if you get someone wanting the sets, I'd be interested in the fronts depending on age.

I had a great time racing at Mid O over Vintage Days. Let's just say the fast guys schooled me a bit...
While walking around on Sunday, I spied Wes Cooley's superbike in the pit lane, with Wes sitting there getting ready to ride a few laps of honor. As I was attempting to take a few pics through the chain link fence, one of the guys down on pit lane said, "come on down." So headed down and had a few moments conversation with Wes, a really decent guy. He had a really bad accident in 1985 and still showed some signs of the injuries. We got to taking taking pictures of his bike and he graciously offered to have one taken of the two of us. The bike sounded glorious going down the front straight.
There were several Japanese fellows there as well who came over from Japan. One spoke some english and relayed to me that one of them was the former Kawasaki Z-1 lead designer and had the serial #1 of the original Eddie Lawson replica. They got a huge kick out of Wes's old bike and knew a great deal about Pops Yoshimura.
Great Fun ....
Wish I had the knowledge to recognize and know some of the history behind the bikes that were out there. Had to wiki Wes Cooley, very cool!
Got a ton of video from the Sunday races, lot of it is garbage, some of it still needs processed, but here are a couple for now. Nothing special, just shot with the bare gopro with my shaky hands. The little bit of commentary is included free of charge:
My best from Monday:
and a little Bacola action to finish it off for now:

Beautiful day at Mid-O yesterday; just a little bit warm. I only counted 20 in intermediate, so whoever said it was 2/3's full was full of it. I registered Friday at 11:30 and i ended up being #8 on the list. I'm not complaining though. I had open track almost the entire day. Too bad my lap timer battery crapped out the first session. Pretty sure i was hitting personal best in the afternoon.
On a side note, i was told at gear tech (yes they check gear now) that they will no longer allow 2-piece suits next year in intermediate. That really makes me upset, my 2-piece is better than many of the 1-pieces out there. I really like taking the coat off between sessions. Now i have to spend my slipper clutch money a new suit this winter. Blah....
Advance only had 12 riders when I signed up in the morning and it felt like less on track. Beautiful day with tons of open track.
Wish I would have known about the timer, I have a GPS that you could have borrowed for the day.
Yep, they are starting to do a gear tech as well as bike tech. Rusty gave me shit about my duct taped boot soles, but I agree they are a half assed temporary repair that needs attention. I'm kind of surprised about the 2 piece, if it is good condition and a full zipper, I would have thought it would be fine for intermediate??? I'll say I looooooove my RST I picked up from Riders Discount, think they were about sold out of their closeouts though.
Couple views of the last session for now, screwed up the editing and sequencing of the first one......also didn't realize the camera was set to narrow field of view so it is a little different. The second video turned out way better than I anticipated, I'll be using that view again

I'm in for Aug 27th - 28th at Pitt. I can take an extra person and/or bike. From east side of Cleveland but can pick someone up that's not too far out of the way.
Sounds like the beginnings of an OR day at PIRC!
well shit that didn't work right

yeah, I've run Dunlop front with Pirelli rear and it was the best of both, planted/stable front under braking with amazing rear feel & confidence under drive, even when laying rubber down all over the place.
Pirelli front with Dunlop rear shouldn't change much geometry wise.....don't think it is playing into the strengths of either tire, but I wouldn't have a problem riding on it.
