People are idiots. Almost every day on my way home from work, coming down past Bethesda Hospital on Montgomery road, there are numerous signs and arrows on the road showing that the right lane is turn only. Yet, every single day, someone stays in that lane, figures out that they are in a turn only lane as they near the intersection. At rush hour, the left lane is full up so nowhere to cut in. The smart driver would say "oh shit" make the turn and then turn around at the next available opportunity (there's a church with a large parking lot right around the corner). But no, they are idiots after all, so they simply stop and sit there until someone on the left feels benevolent enough to let them over (which is usually a few minutes because that intersection has a light). They block a whole lane just because they chose poorly and I'd say a good 70% of the time they are on the fucking phone which is why they didn't have a clue that the lane is turn only. Because I'm an asshole, if I'm behind them, I lay on the horn until they do the right thing and make the turn. Generally they throw up their arms like "what do you expect me to do?". SMH Anytime I miss a turn or exit, I don't slam on my brakes like a moron, I just keep on and find somwhere to turn around or use the GPS to loop me back. This concept seems to escape most people.

I've read enough oil discussion on forums to puke a buzzard off a gut wagon but came across this article and thought it may be enlightening for some though they could've gotten more in depth. It's at least helpful for those wondering what oil in general to use for their bikes and what to look for so you don't put something in there that'll ruin your day http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/lowdown-on-motorcycle-engine-oil Here's the thing. Read it, digest it, learn, or scoff at it, whatever. Just don't start a damn oil argument about it. No one cares that your neighbor's cousin's mechanic said that their oil of choice makes their yellow zoom zoom and purple go-faster engine run forever. It's been talked ad naseum. However, if you'd like to point to some other unbiased educational info about oil then feel free.

I see opportunity. With my limited engineering expertise I would tackle it this way. The helmet has a built in rear cam and electronics for BT etc. There would be a flip out translucent LCD screen for showing the data (think google glass) below the direct line of site so looking at it would be like glancing at your dash. This all would be connected to a smart phone by BT and the related app would track speed, g's, etc for display. Either a helmet mounted button(s) panel or a handlebar remote like on my Sena could be used to toggle the display. The app could also be configured to change the display based on events. e.g. - how rear view when coming to a stop so you can make sure the moron behind you stops. For good measure throw speaker and a microphone in there to use as a communicator or a voice command for the display/app all of this shit exists in one form or another, it just needs to be put in a helmet. It's not inventing the wheel. @Tonik your kid could do this no sweat. Make it happen.

So they had an FZ10 there but not available as a demo (if I'm reading the thread correctly)? I really want to ride that things. The FZ1 was one of the best bikes ever. As I understand it from a few who bought one, they are a cross between the R1 and the second gen FZ1. Probably a little more aggressive in the seating than I'd like but I bet that motor is the shit. @Tonik - I felt the same about the FJR...it just never called to me. Nice bike but no soul.

It has arrived! 2016 Yamaha demo days THIS WEEKEND

Those points come with a ban...and cooties. -
neons on a car = riding in shorts and flip flops on a bike they both serve no purpose other than to "look good" That said, my logic may suck today...i'm on pain meds.

Several of you are aware I was going to have surgery to help alleviate the severe tendinitis I was having in my left Achilles tendon. All went well and I just got back from the hospital I'm going to get some sleep but I'm wide awake ATM. Have to wear a boot for the next few weeks so no riding for a while but it's way better the surgery I had on my right one which was a 6 month to 1 year recovery. That sucked ass and I wouldn't want to do it again although the outcome was great. Hopefully this helps enough resolve the issues I was having so I don't need to resort to that. Get out and ride while you are healthy!

neon lights on a bike = spinners on a car ghetto

You can actually rent a mountain bike and ride down the mountain (Killington) on fire roads though. Did that one summer...it's crazy.

Nope, the official name is The Fall Hate Train Trip. You don't want me in charge...I own a trailer

That's a more sensible answer

I'll try to look at possibilities this weekend when I'm laid up from surgery. I'm good with caravan-ing it and staying a different place each night though that means hitting the twisties etc loaded down with whatever is coming with you. Not a problem for me on the Tenere but may be for others on the sport side of things. Maybe we can have a poll. @Tonik has a lot of good routes.

Then you try to squeeze by favoring hitting the car whose occupant is well protected, not the motorcycle whom you can easily kill or leave disabled. Easy split second decision. Believe me, it's much more expensive to pay for someone's medical bills than it is to pay to repair their car. Of course, this is a person who can't (or won't) maintain their car properly so I shouldn't give them too much credit for their decision making powers.

I took a short ride on the XR yesterday to see my dad in the hospital. On the trip there and back I saw 2 cars egregiously run red light...way after it turned red. One was crossing in front of me and I had just started to get on the gas to go (I was in front) when I saw them coming. Had I not looked as I started, they would've nailed me. The other was in the lane next to me and I'd say the light had been red for a good 5 seconds when it just drove right through...pretty close to hitting cross traffic turning in his/her direction who had to slam on their brakes. I'd better not find out these fools are playing pokemon while driving.

This is how I spend my Friday nights apparently With all the crap going on in the world, if we aren't laughing we'd surely be crying. Earth is a mess.

I think it's a ploy by Democrats to divert media attention from Hillary and the shit storm she should be facing right now. BTW, the University of North Texas made a coffee mug for her... I'm sure the Oklahoma College for Kids has one for 'ol Trumpy too

You can see her hair is all blurry because she turned away right as I was taking the shot. Porn stars sure are shy.

Note the windowless "kidnapper" van. I have a feeling if someone had gotten in with her, we'd be found near a river somewhere. To be fair, Jim did help her troubleshoot the problem and located the guy with jumper cables.

I actually do have pics somewhere...may even be posted from last year.

@Tonik damn near snagged a hottie at the mini mart near the hotel in/around Georgetown last year after he helped her jump her van (not literally, her battery was dead) - it was in the rain so he was clean at least. I believe we had a few beers prior to that so my memory may be fuzzy as to her hotness.
