  1. If it has more than 2 wheels or doesn't have those two wheels in line and a motor of some sort, it's not a motorcycle. Beside being ugly, poorly engineered and probably built to not last, what's not to like?
  2. Maybe I am being misunderstood? I don't think mini racing is 'the ticket', just beneficial in the ways I mentioned. There are other options that may or may not be more helpful to jbot depending on what he is lacking. Sorry if I haven't been clear on this. Anyways, I'm sure jbot and others have had their fill of my opinion on this topic. Hope to see lots of folks out with OMRL next year, or any racing series for that matter. Biggie
  3. I'm still trying to figure out how riding a mini on dirt is useful, but riding a mini on pavement isn't? If small and big are so different, why would riding a small bike ever be useful? I say it is useful. I personally feel riding any motorized in line two wheel vehicle is beneficial. Now I agree, nothing is a substitue for big bike time. I've never ridden with jbot and don't recall ever meeting him. It would be hard to tell whether mini racing is the best use of jbot's time and money. I do think he would learn things and have fun while doing it with minimal risks. I don't go to the big bike tracks because the risks vs. rewards are too high for me. As a single self employed father of 4, I can't take the risk of being all broken up (or worse) if I get into a big crash. I raced 3 partial seasons 10-12 years ago and really enjoyed it. I have a few plaques to prove I wasn't running at the back of the pack. I'm faster now than I was then and I feel I could do better than I did back then as I have more time and money to dedicate. I really WANT to go big bike racing, just can't justify. Biggie
  4. I was going to make it fair and ride my Honda SH150 scooter up and down the gap just to give you slow pokes a fair shot. I'll be looking for a cabin and looking to split with another couple. Kristi and I should be there. She'll probably be riding the Aprilia RS125 or something we might find between now and then. Anyone have a spot for the scoot on there trailer? Biggie
  5. Thanks for posting so far in advance. Biggie

  8. I've ridden small bikes on the dirt and they slide a lot. I've ridden small bikes at CRP and I have tucked the front and slide the rear many times. The speeds are higher than on the dirt for the same slides, but no where near the big bike speeds. I'm not sure how that wouldn't relate to big bikes. Edit: Even American Supercamp now teaches dirt and pavement on cart track. http://www.americansupercamp.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=8 End of edit: Maybe we just disagree, but there are the other benefits I mentioned that would help a novice race at a much lower cost than just going to a few rounds of Moto-series.
  9. I agree it is smart to have kids on bigger bikes the sooner the better. I disagree that that means it isn't helpful in all the ways I mentioned. If Nicky Hayden and many other top level racers ride XR100's around for training and my personal experience is enough to convince me that once you are an adult you can gain a lot from riding any two wheeler, especially road racing them.
  10. I absolutely think it helps with any two wheel riding you will do, but specifically in your case as well. Bike control: Little bikes require you to maintain corner speed and brake deep into the corner while leaned over. Things I never had to do racing super twins 10 - 12 years ago. Race craft: Little bikes allow you to get comfortable passing and being passed along with racing close to others. Things you will need to do on the big bikes. Hardest thing I found when I started racing big bikes was how close you would be to others at speed. Little bikes allow you to get comfortable with this at more safe speeds. You will probably still feel weird when you get bumped as someone goes up the inside, etc. You will learn to setup and execute a pass against multiple riding styles. Race prep: Little racing or big racing, you still need to learn to bring a bike that is ready to the track, have spares, tools, know how, etc. to make you race day enjoyable. Getting ready for little racing is not much different than big racing. Just cheaper. One big thing I noticed for me was how much more comfortable I have become using the front brake deep into the corner. I would have never done this on a big bike before but, after a few rounds of OMRL last season, I gained the skill and confidence to do this on my Panigale. First time I ever wore out a front tire almost as fast as a rear tire on a liter bike. Trust me, the smiles after a good race are the same whether racing 100cc or 1000cc. The main differences are the risks to your health and your wallet. Biggie #72 OMRL
  11. OMRL is super cheap and loads of fun! I'm always suprised when people don't come out. Costs are so cheap. Riding the little bikes will make you a better and more skillful sport street rider. I can't wait until 2013. Biggie #72 OMRL
  12. I have a BRZ- Limited. 28K MSRP. Fantastic car. Couldn't use it as my only vehicle. Much nicer than the 25K FR-S. Had one of those for 2 months. BRZ is super loaded and fun to drive. Great mileage, great handling. Not sure about using in snow, RWD. Small interior. Practically no back seats. Insurance twice the price of my Sonata. To those who always buy used, great idea if paying cash. Not as great with loan. New car interest rates are often 1-3% and may get exactly what you want for only slightly more money. I had Evo9 before and was great all around car, but no CC and limited range on fuel >250 miles, sometimes under 210. Mazda 3 is great car. Hyundai Sonata is great car for $20K. I paid $17.5K in 2011 for 6 speed base model. Hint, Hyundai base models are loaded (bluetooth, cc, power everything, etc). Hyundai's are like American cars with features, but cheaper and more reliable like Japanese cars. Sonata has huge trunk. I would stay away from anything German unless you have a hookup on maintenance. Lifetime costs are way up there.
  13. Amazing what people believe when they haven't given a shit about layoffs ever, but now all of a sudden it's the President's fault. Companies hire and fire. Economy goes up and down. Rich people get richer. Rich people aren't the only job creators. If they were reinvesting their money it would lower their tax burden even further. What amazes me is we lowered tax rates on the wealthiest Americans in the early 2000's. What did all the purpoted job creators do with their money, apparently they didn't spend it creating new jobs. Now I see so many people arguing how great those rich people are and how difficult it will be to provide health insurance to their employees. If you have 50+ employees, you are making serious money or you are doing it entirely wrong!!! So many people defending those job creators but don't have any desire to have them create good jobs that pay well and provide benefits?? WTF? It is like some race to the bottom where the rich get very rich and everyone else works for shit wages and no benefits.
  14. Metal engine case. Water pump housing and oil sight glass. Lebanon is zip 45036, about 10 minutes from Kings Island.
  15. Commonwealth is Ducati dealer in Louisville. Sometimes great deals can be had on low mile Ducatis since the typical owner doesnt ride much and has a good income. Some sell at dealers at great prices via consignment.
  16. I would offer a price you consider fair and have him agree to it upfront completely. You don't want to waste all the time driving back and forth to come home without the bike. Bikes sell slow in the winter and he can ask what he wants, but he may not sell before next May. Seems like a high price overall. Seems that Commonwealth had a great deal on an 1100 Monster Evo a few months ago. I suspect you could find a great deal between now and next riding season.
  17. Almost perfect condition. Never installed. Haven't had my Superhawk in a decade, time to let this part go. Free to anyone who wants to come get it. Prefer not to ship. Located in Lebanon, OH.
  18. Love my AGV GP-Tech. Much lighter than previous AGV's and great aero at speed. Doesn't want to rotate my head. Highly recommended. Bought from forum sponsor.
  19. I think the OP's point was the gun made the cop feel safe but ended up being a tragic mistake that cost his son's life and frankly he should be put in jail. Accidentally shooting someone on purpose isn't 'excusable'. I agree with most everyone's rights to own guns or do drugs, or whatever. But with guns, little things can turn into big things. I believe you are more likely to use that gun if you have it with you. It's too easy to turn to the gun 'solution'. I own guns, but choose not to carry a gun. Yes, I served 6 years in the world's finest Navy on the USS Pennsylvania SSBN-735 (B). I can't imagine feeling like I need a gun everywhere I go. That sounds like torture. I see it and hear it all the time about how I need to protect myself. I don't want that burden. I'm comfortable using my wits and situational awareness to keep me and my family safe. Plus, in today's crazy out of control penal system time we all live in, every crime you might be involved in will be compounded significantly if there is a gun on your person or near you when it happens. And as already listed earlier in the discussion, military members are required to follow LAWFUL orders. For those that are in denial, the US Military has been eliminating US Citizens without trial (some argue without due process). Granted these are people who are not on US soil. When I was at Kings Bay Naval Base, I volunteered for ASF (Aux. Security Force) and it was like the base police (Shore Patrol) when needed. There was a normal list of when to use deadly force, things like, protect yourself, to protect others. The funny thing, or what I found to be whimsical at the time, there was one extra line item for when Nuclear Weapons were present. I'll paraphrase as I don't have the wording exact, but it basically said, NO REGARD for bystanders in the protection of nuclear weapons. Meaning, if someone is trying to steal the nukes, get out of the line of fire, as they are authorized to shoot everyone. Biggie #72 OMRL
  20. I agree with everything said. Congratulations. I think you are crazy as it is expensive to undo. Legal fees, half your shit (or more). Anger issues. I agree, I have never been more angry in my life than when I was married. I was married 18 years. Happiest ever since paying for that to be over. Cow and milk, I've seen plenty of cows with rings give milk to more than just one person. Biggie
  21. My pussy hurts: Too wet, too windy, too many cops, too many drunk rednecks, not enough titties. I miss the hill climb from 10+ years ago. Kids had baseball or I would have probably gone today. Hope the racing was good but safe.
  22. I definitely can't go with a permanent mount that is for one size only. I haul around 2 little OMRL bikes often but also have full size bikes and a scooter. The new trailer is $4K and I don't expect that I'll have to spend more than $1000 plus chocks to get it rewired and the deck replaced. I could be off by a few hundred, but I only paid $1500 for the trailer and it is in great shape now. Biggie
  23. I have a Triton aluminum motorcycle trailer. I am looking for a shop or person who will completely go over the trailer and make it like new. It is approximately 12 years old and in great condition. I want to replace the main plywood deck with diamond plate aluminum to reduce weight even further and prevent future rotting. The left side is starting to rot, or feels like it is under foot. I'd like all new LED lighting and everything cleaned up ready for next spring. I'm not in any hurry. Tires are still in great shape. Not sure about the wheel bearings, want those greased/checked. I want to build in chocks for 3 bikes. It is the older version of this http://www.tritontrailers.com/products/Model.aspx?CatID=28&SubCatID=40&ModelID=353&info=features Anyone know of a place or person that does all of the above at a reasonable price? Biggie
