  1. Good chance, that many armed dudes moving with that sort of coordination, that they were part of a bigger cell, not just a couple pissed off hajis. It's definitely sad in the greater sense, but I look at it more like treating a disease. If you leave it alone, it'll just fester. Gotta keep at it with the appropriate medicine.
  2. Is it weird that the news story kinda makes me want to drive all the way to Canton to shop there?
  3. Once in awhile I watch videos like these and think, I could do that. I mean, with enough practice and the right bike, I could at least go run one. Just to say I did it, ya' know? Then I look down, and remember that my balls are about 40lbs too light, each, for the task.
  4. And a Tundra pulled the Space Shuttle. But I really want to see this!!
  5. I wonder if this will be like the Affordable Care Act, which we had to pass before we could read what was in it...
  6. Most criminals I would shoot at don't rise far above the level of animals. For that matter, I prefer most animals to a human being that would attack/rob/rape me...
  7. ^ Same. Also, that's betting on Congress pulling its head out of its collective ass, which is not a bet I'd make.
  8. Total opposite, actually: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/28/obama-pay-raise-congress_n_2377714.html?utm_hp_ref=politics
  9. The raise was courtesy of an EO from Uncle Barry.
  10. Guns are made for killing. Bad guys. That's why I have them.
  11. I'm pretty sure that if the fiscal cliff happens, it'll affect paycheck withholding immediately, so they don't really have all year. Also payroll taxes, estate taxes and the rest go into immediate effect. Glad Congress just got a pay raise, though.
  12. And the numbers become even more dramatic when you figure in that only a small percentage of police and military would be willing to turn their weapons towards their own people. Most of us (police, military) are going to be shooting the same direction as anybody else, if it came to that.
  13. "False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; ...The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm those only who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Can it be supposed that those who have the courage to violate the most sacred laws of humanity, the most important of the code, will respect the less important and arbitrary ones, which can be violated with ease and impunity, and which, if strictly obeyed, would put an end to personal liberty -- so dear to men, ...and subject innocent persons to all the vexations that the guilty alone ought to suffer? Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. They ought to be designated as laws not preventive but fearful of crimes, produced by the tumultuous impression of a few isolated facts, and not by thoughtful consideration of the inconveniences and advantages of a universal decree." --CESARE BECCARIA, On Crime and Punishment, p.145 (1819) originally published in 1764
  14. I really don't think they could get anywhere near the votes, even if they tried to bury it in another measure. The Republicans know it's political suicide, and it's equally so for a lot of Southern democrats.
  15. What makes you think that any sort of ban will pass the House?
  16. Who in the world was telling you that?
  17. Calm down. That kind of bill would have a hard time passing the Senate, and stands no chance at all of passing the House.
  18. Yet another example of an LEO dealing calmly and rationally with a dog... http://www.examiner.com/article/police-officer-charged-with-a-felony-the-shooting-of-chloe-the-dog?cid=db_articles
  19. It's crazy catchy. I've started calling my friends "cold-ass honkies" too.
  20. ^ Or you could just buy my trailer and save yourself all that trouble! I've had well over 1000 lbs of bike and gear on this thing without any trouble. Your bike is exactly what this thing was built for.
  21. Just so happens that's exactly the kind of guy I bought it from! I've considered taking off the ramp gate for fuel economy, but never got around to trying it. That's one reason I haven't fixed the one hinge yet, in case whoever gets it wants to just ditch it altogether. The trailer weighs 760lbs empty, if I remember right. And you're right, it hasn't flinched at any sort of weight I've thrown at it.
  22. The framing is thicker, the bracing more frequent, and the welds better/stronger. Conn, at the rate things are going, you probably have a good chance at it! It really is a crappy time of year to try and sell this sort of thing, but I had to wait until I was finished using it.
  23. ^^ It's like redkow was saying, it's built to a capacity and durability that's more than what most people are looking for in the same class of trailer. I can assure you it's orders of magnitude better in terms of build quality than anything you'll find at TSC.
  24. Yeah, it's a little overbuilt for some people, I guess. I'll p-chop the chocks out of the picture and see how that does.
