  1. Did anyone see the story right now on channel 10?
  2. Im sorry I am not up on tuning. Is HPT a pregrammer that would tell the computer not to look for the O2 Sensors? 1.5 hrs which way? Would you supply the pipe. Give me a call, he has a dolly so he may be interested. 937-243-4521
  3. I pm'ed John just now. When he gets back to me I will let you know. Thank you.
  4. I know no shop will do it that is why I came here. I was hoping someone wanted cash on the side for the job. If it takes buying an off-road pipe and a tune I am sure he is up for it. He does not have the tools or knowledge to do the job and I do not have a place to do it anymore. I have 2 cars in pieces in my garage. He is willing to have the car trailered to a house or shop or garage w/e works. He pays well. I am really kicking myself for letting my dad use the empty spot in my garage for his project car. Someone help me out please. I know lots of people have done this to their car on here. If you need reference about me not rating you out and getting a fine ask Bill (Bill Dozzer) about me.
  5. I have a friend in Columbus who has a 4th gen Camaro with a plugged convertor. He would like to pay someone cash to have the catalytic convertors removed, a pipe put in their place and a MIL Eliminator or O2 Simulator installed and no check engine light when done. If the cat was removed and the computer reflashed that would work fine also. I have done work for him before and he has always paid cash in advance. The car is very clean, stored winters. It should not have alot of rust issues. If I remember correctly it is a 99. I no longer have access to a shop. If anyone is interested in the job please call me at 937-243-4521 so I can put him in touch with you.
  6. I don't keep up on drag racing so I had no clue this accident and the Kalitta accident were at the same place. However, I had seen this video on those world's scariest video type shows and it was the first thing I thought of. It amazes me the lack of shutdown area some tracks have.
  7. Not true. My father put a cop in the ditch when he brake checked him. The cop wrote him for reckless op. Fought it in court and the judge threw it out. Police have to follow all the same traffic laws as anyone else when they are driving around. Safe and assured distance was not maintained so he threw the ticket out. As for leeway on a speedometer, according to Ford, ( I have not looked at others in specific but, I would assume they are similar) when you are diagnosing a speedometer accuracy issue, you compare it against a known car's speed or a radar reading and if it is within 5mph it is accurate. It is written that way in their diagnostic manuals, not just some technicain over the phone saying that.
  8. Bexley (I believe it is at Wolf Park) is always a good show. Park on a side street and come in from the side on foot. Way better/closer then sitting in the stands. It is Friday night.
  9. Prohibition caused more problems then it was worth. I think alot of it is that alcohol is a taboo. Look at the DUI rates in countries like Germany. You can get beer ANYWHERE at ANY AGE and they don't have near the problem we do. I also think another part of the problem is American's ego/attitude. It is a constant enviroment of one up-manship and the consequences are not my fault. It leads to many of America's problems however, that is for another thread. Treat Drunk Drivers as what they are, attempted murder. I don't mean negligent homicide either.
  10. Party plates, impounding cars, taking licenses, breathalyzer interlocks, etc. don't seem to have any affect. If you have multiple DUI's I see no reason not to charge you with attempted murder. Every single person in America knows the possible results. It is no different then taking a handful of blanks and a handful of live ammo throwing them in a bucket and pulling a random round out, then firing the gun into a crowd. I am sick of seeing loved ones and friend's getting killed or seriously injured because some asshat couldn't be responsible enough to hang his keys up before he started drinking and leave them there till they are sober. Anytime you drink and drive you put yourself and every other law abiding citizen at risk. This just closes loop holes that allow people to get out of DUI's. If people were more responsible laws like this wouldn't even be an issue. Try looking up foreign countries punishments for DUI and see which you like better. Many countries begin punishment at .02 bac. Third offense in Ontario gets you a lifetime suspension on your license. New Zealand sells your car, and forbids you from owning one for 1 year after multiple offenses. Any vehicle you own in the 1 year is also siezed and sold. Most countries also allow RANDOM breathalyzer. No reasonable suspicion needed. Alot of them also mandate a breathalyzer after any accident. Here are examples of some other extreme reprecussions in foreign countries: Australia The names of the drivers are sent to the local newspapers and are printed under the heading, "He's drunk and in jail." Malaya The driver is jailed; if he's married, his wife is jailed too. South Africa A 10 year prison sentence or the equivalent of a $10,000 fine or both. Turkey Drunk drivers are taken 20 miles from town by the police and forced to walk back under escort Norway Three weeks in jail at hard labor, one year loss of license. If the driver commits a second offense within five years, his license is revoked for life. Finland Driver is automatically jailed for one year at hard labor. Sweden Driver is automatically jailed for one year at hard labor. Costa Rica Police remove plates from the offender's vehicle. Russia License revoked for life. England One year license suspension, a $250.00 fine and jail for one year. France Drivers are punished with a three year loss of license, one year in jail, and a $1,000 fine. Poland Jailed and fined and forced to attend political lectures. Bulgaria A second conviction results in execution El Salvador Your first offense is your last, as punishment is execution by firing squad. I kinda like El Salvador's solution.
  11. Straight from the article you posted - Although the law specifies that only "a physician, a registered nurse, or a qualified technician" can draw blood from a motorist, The officers can only do it if they have gone through a training course. Don't drink and drive, don't have a problem.
  12. Don't even bother with the hassle. Contact her insurance company and let them fight it out with the "uninsured" guy and the "at fault" lady. The guy may even have been driving someone else's car that did have insurance. That could bring in more time consuming work. Let your insurance handle it, that's what you pay them for.
  13. Are there individual prices or do they just lump it all in a total? A breakdown would be much less shady and easier for people to say if it is a fair price or not.

  16. Or the fact that most steering wheels lock in the current position when the key is shut off and that you only have a couple of brake applications before you lose power assist. 50mpg might save you enough money to pay the deductible when you hit someone/something.
  17. I would have to disagree. ASE is generally good for $.50 a cert. After only 5 yrs. in the industry I was working at NTB making $24/hr flat rate. That is generally what I was making at a couple other shops as well. The ASE Master Cert. makes people willing to work with you on the pay rate. $8/hr. is not bad for no cert. and in high school. Pep Boys is only offering $7.15 w/o certs. I would take the brake and suspension ASE tests. Once you get those 2 take the exhaust test. Those three will make you an Undercar Specialist. Nothing more then a title but it looks good. I have never worked in an exhaust shop and was able to pass the exhaust test on my first try despite pipe bender questions. The brake and suspension test are pretty much straight forward knowledge that anyone who works on cars should be able to think their way through. I do agree that they are only pieces of paper and don't mean anything against experience but, unfortunatly businesses generally don't see it that way.
  18. Have him "sell" it to you. Then it can legally be removed. Drive/mod it till November and "sell" it to him. I would assume there are big fines/penalties for messing with it or allowing him to use it after you "take ownership".
  19. What did Vortech advertise the kit as giving on a stock motor? I know quite often they give a projected horsepower and even sometimes a graph. It would be nice to compare advertised to real life.
  20. 95% but, #8 is wrong according to the Ohio Revised Code 4511.27 Overtaking and passing of vehicles proceeding in the same direction. (A) The following rules govern the overtaking and passing of vehicles or trackless trolleys proceeding in the same direction: (1) The operator of a vehicle or trackless trolley overtaking another vehicle or trackless trolley proceeding in the same direction shall, except as provided in division (A)(3) of this section, signal to the vehicle or trackless trolley to be overtaken, shall pass to the left thereof at a safe distance, and shall not again drive to the right side of the roadway until safely clear of the overtaken vehicle or trackless trolley. (A)(3) Doesn't seem to affect the side you pass on. (3) The operator of a vehicle or trackless trolley overtaking and passing another vehicle or trackless trolley proceeding in the same direction on a divided highway as defined in section 4511.35 of the Revised Code, a limited access highway as defined in section 5511.02 of the Revised Code, or a highway with four or more traffic lanes, is not required to signal audibly to the vehicle or trackless trolley being overtaken and passed.
  21. I saw one the other night where Drew said "Say 1, 2, 3 Alakazam and then open the box." So this blonde puts her hands on the sides of the lid and says "1, 2, 3 Alakazam open the box". She procedes to stand their waiting for the box to magically open itself while the whole audience laughs.
