  1. This argument is really comparing apples to oranges, Harleys can be great bikes and may be less reliable then metric bikes and are usually purchased by fat old posers however there are exceptions, they are meant to be loud and look cool. While sportbikes are usually purchased by young dumb squids who brag about performance figures they can not personally exploit also with a few exceptions, In the end who cares just ride what you like.

  2. The difference of course is that the "power rangers" suit is a functional piece of safety equipment... please tell me how the leather vest and tassels have function...

NO the big difference is the power rangers know they are going to crash and the cruiser groups do everything they can not to I did a search of crashes by bike category here is what I came up with.

    Insurance Stats

Cruise.5.7 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

Touring.6.5 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

Sport.33.2 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

  3. . Stereotypically, HD owners ride to and from the bar, only putting 300-500 miles a year before moving to the next shiny pile of chrome.

I do not know where you get your information from but I put 585 miles a week on my bike during the summer just back and forth to work I also ride with about 30 other HD riders from the American Legion in Ravenna And we have a pool every year the rider with the most miles at the end of the summer takes the prize the lowest miles for the group was a little over 3500 I ended up with over 9000 and still did not win. And yes we do stop at a lot of bars but we do know how to have a lot of fun. As far as safety goes we had 0 accidents last year on every one of our rides can this group say the same. On resale values I currently have a 2012 Softail Classic that is paid for I am looking at up grading to a new bike a 2014 Street glide Special for a difference of about $4500 counting upgrades Exhaust intake and supper tuner so the way I look at it I’m only paying $4500 of a brand new $22.000 bike. I like all the lame attempts at flaming HD and their riders thanks I find it funny but if you guys really want to learn how to do it right go to some of the big HD forums and do a search on something like power rangers
  4. Same as me just along for the ride but my bike has GPS if we need it I also have a GoPro 3 on my bike I just need to pick up a few extra memory cards I’m figuring we will be lucky if we finish up the first day under 18 hours nothing ever gos exactly as planned. I do not need to be back at work until Wednesday so everything is ok with me

  5. I work in a retail home improvement store a woman walks up to me with about 10 fiberglass driveway markers in her hand and asks why are these pointy on one end.

Another woman is looking to buying a portable air tank I show her a 10 gallon tank and tell her it will hold 100lbs of air she says that is to big I can’t pick up 100lbs

Another woman (I’m starting to see a pattern here) buys a 20 foot extinction ladder I take it out to her car there is no way it is going to fit in her car so I tell her she will need to get someone with a truck to pick it up for her She calls me a dumbass and she will load it herself so I watch her drive out of the parking lot with it sticking out of her back windows like and airplane wing

If I had time I could fill this page up with stories like this.

  7. I like the first shirt the best also my age is a little younger then what you see on my profile I do not put that stuff on the internet because of ID theft Also I get my shirts a few sizes larger because after a few washes they shrink and make me look like I’m wearing one of those midriff shirts and you do not want to see that. Ya that sounds about right :) LOL

  8. Rooms are booked for the first 3 nights. I can wing it the last night also not a bad idea to get past Chicago before we stop. Traffic in that town sucks any time of day definitely do not want to hit rush hour traffic. Sunday night would best time to go thru. If we don’t make it past Chicago I will sleep in and get a late start Monday.

Both shirts look good if we get them made I will need a 5x I can get one and get it to you if needed

  9. I stayed in The Lodge at Deadwood & Casino while i was out there it as freaking beautiful but a little more expensive. If i indeed end up going i WILL need someone to split a room with that will be the only way i could afford to go, and i too snore like a old bear.

I snore bad also but I can sleep thru anything If you can do the same your welcome to bunk with me.

Jim do you need help with finding the rooms I can help Or are we on our own to do that would be nice if we can all stay at the same places. How many rooms do you think we need

Welcome to the forum now there are at least 4 of us HD owners on the site. Don't let these guys scare you off no matter what you hear they are all just a little jealous and some day most of them will grow up and buy a real mans bike. Once you get past the Harley razzing you will see they are all a pretty good bunch of guys and to be truthful I think none of them really care what anyone rides

As far as reliability goes I have owned 3 Harleys since 1995 and averaged over 50 thousand miles on each and the only problem I have had was with rear spokes on one of them but not a single other problem with any of them so the reliability talk is all BS your bike is only as reliable as you let it be.

    Again Welcome Rick.

  11. Oh i hear ya... But as it turns out I've never been on a cruise, so i think i'll try that for a change. I have ridden rediculously long days on my bike across the country, and while it was enjoyable for me, I think i'd rather have a comfort bike like a GW or a K1600 GT if i were to try it 2-up.

Been on a few cruises they are great fun but the best time to take one is in the winter when you cant ride and its not 110deg out on the deck.
