  1. its a shame to see any rider to go down. the dude was right though, he shouldnt have seen it and id be mad at the n00b too. buts still, its a brother on 2 wheels. (though at the time he was on one). i know when i wrecked doing about 60 in the twisties and got up and walked away, i thanked who ever was watching over me that day. though i did have most of the correct gear on too.
  2. if my opinion matters any.. i think thats a hell of an idea. i HATE stopping and feeling awkward because i have to stop everyone else so i can take a tinkle. i give you props for finding something interesting. i would consider purchasing it. on a side note. if your riding with people that arent willing to stop at the next turn to wait for you, or hang out and watch for cops, i wouldnt be riding with those people. its not very healthy to hold it. that can do some damage.

welcome! Pittsburgh is only about a hour and a half away, im sure we could meet in the middle and find some nice twisties somewhere
  4. happens a lot with gm products. 99% of the time its the lock cylinder its self. pretty easy to replace actually. if you were closer id love to help you out.
  5. Cause im a cowboyyyyy babyyyyyyyy (you know that old kid rock song)
  6. oh, it will NOT work with flash drives that use the U3 file system.
  7. so for the past two days, ive been trying to reformat my wives netbook (no cd drive) and ive been having one HECK of a time trying to get a usb drive to boot windows setup. well after all the programs in the world that are "supposed" to create a bootable disk, i found this. worked pretty well and its SIMPLE. just a simple FYI for fellow geeks. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos/howto_make_bootable_usb_key
  8. So, i work at nick mayer lincoln in westlake, and our boss, nick mayer, decided to start a "rust belt customs" auto shop, which is being kind of ran out of our service area right now. we DID have one guy building some sweet hot rods and doing a lot of work to get some vehicles up and running, but once a couple of us "snooped" to check on his work (instructed to by a our boss, i would never throw another tech under the bus), we found a bunch of hacked work right away. needless to say he got fired shortly after, good guy, but horrible wrench. well we went a short few weeks without anyone, till we heard nick was hiring a guy with "no tools". my first thought was, how do you hire a guy with no tools to work on cars!?. then i found out who he was and what he has done. his name is Larry Nagel. built some AMAZING choppers in his life, and did a ot of custom working. for an older guy now, hes tripled the old employees work payout and things are running correctly and done professionally. he's an awesome guy. check this video out. maybe im going a bit over board with this, but anyone that has his skills in fabrication, is amazing, and deserves respect. some of you "older" gentlemen might know him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk7FSSVSVtE
  9. and for a long needed update. new tail fairing, gas tank, and front fender are all painted by my father and i, doesnt look like a $1000 paint job, but we had a good 12 hours doing it and had a blast hanging out with each other, that mattered more to me then anything. bikes officially tore down. motor is sitting on a stand and the frame, sub frame, and swing arm are all sitting in my car ready to be taken to the sand blasting. directly after they get sand blasted they will go to the fab shop to be welded and powder coated. all the parts i need are ordered and are being shipped. ill get some more pictures up later. but its been one step at a time. edit:: most of the bike will be black, with a couple yellow items on it here and there. went for a yellow black look, i like the idea thats in my head, but ill see what it comes out like.
  10. Well after bringing home proper tools, it's fixed. When I bought the bike, guy said he just put a ignition control module on it and everything was running fine. That was about 6 months ago. Rechecked all the wiring and found where the kick stand wire goes into the connector for the module the terminal had backed out enough not to touch. So I pushed it back in and wahla!
  11. Well I found the diode. I have zero continuity going through it either direction. I'm going to bring home a better ohm meter Monday from work and check it. The testers I have here are el cheapo equipment.
  12. negative, clutch switch and the stand switch are working great, tested with a ohm meter. trying to find the diode that part of the wiring splices off and goes to a different part.
  13. alright, well now that my kids are asleep i did a little more investigating. the kick stand switch is working. when kicked up i have the ground i should have coming through the switch its self, now im looking for the diode that it goes through next to see if i have it there and past it, but i cant find the diode, went through every page of the manual but i havent googled it yet.
  14. I jumped it and was able to crank over the engine in first gear without the physical clutch lever pulled, which told me the clutch switch and the trans were fine.
  15. Well I went out this morning and went to get on my cbr. Started great. Everytime I shift into gear it dies. Clutch switch works fine. The kick stand light goes up when kicked. Trans is not locked up. Is there a seperate system on the stand to kill is that's not in junction with the light?
  16. what he said ^^^ when i worked in the aftermarket auto repair, we seen a ton of these with front end problems, electrical problems, and engine problems. stay away from it. honestly, as much as id like to tell you to buy a ranger, id say dont, unless its newer with low miles, those things not taken care of can go south really quickly, but the engines will run forever. i agree is papa, buy a toyota, not so much a nissan, but the toyota trucks are good trucks.
  17. i would definitely buy these if i didnt swim in them. i wear a 32 waist, so thatd be too big. glws!
  18. I started my wife out on a pitbike. She wanted to learn, so I taught her on a small dirt bike so if she wrecked it wouldn't be as bad. Once she was comfortable with that then I slowly put her on a 250. She's content on it. She's in it for the ride, not the gutsy crap most of us do. And I agree with what most people are saying. A 600 will only terrify her and shed be too scared to pay attention or grasp it.
  19. ok, so the pvc pipe worked, just have to shave a little off for it to fit into the fork to get the seal all the way down BUT** ive only done one so far, and i noticed that its much stiffer when i didnt change any settings but i did change the fluid, im sure thats normal going to new fluid, but i just want to make sure, thats my first time ever rebuilding forks, so i honestly just dont know.
  20. welcome back! mind if i ask what happened to you?
  21. "i think i got some in my eye!"
