  1. Yea, "Find my iPhone" is about the best of it, and it's up to the owner to work that out. You could report it to the cops or wherever you found it, wait a month and then sell or trade it if nobody claims the phone.
  2. Gump, GSM phones will not work on a CDMA carrier. Zx3vfr your political trollmanship is getting droll.
  3. The Versys has a great reputation for its agility and like Hellmutt said, it looks well equipped and maintained for the price. Whoever buys this should shout out to the other ADV riders - we're planning some great camp-and-rides next year.
  4. I really enjoyed last year. Sat on 50+ bikes (including a couple dozen brand new models), people-watched, ate junk food and drank whiskey. Like rslocum said, how better to get a mid-winter motorcycle fix?
  5. Warren Buffet, Marc Benioff, Bill Gates - I sure do wish those silly liberals would stop being so dependent on Obama's handouts. I bet they even call each other on their Obamaphones.
  6. Oh, so THAT's why I don't have a 40k job with health benefits from the gubbbbbbbbberment - I KNEW there was a reason! I don't have a brother, so could your parents adopt me so I can sign my car over? I need to line up with the republican narrative, don't you know.
  7. Agreed, and I think it was aimed at folks who whine about Obama when they have to pay 10c more a gallon for milk, their fruit loops don't taste right and their shoes don't fit correctly.
  8. Just like this weekend I hope! I got out for a short ride yesterday and it felt great. I wonder if we all sprayed stabil into the air, if winter would be less severe?
  9. Every generation is exactly the same, so get over yourself. And BTW, I'm in early-to-mid Gen X and see wide bands of quality in your trailing X group as well. http://www.thewire.com/national/2013/05/me-generation-time/65054/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/adamthierer/2012/01/08/why-do-we-always-sell-the-next-generation-short/ http://gawker.com/study-every-generation-is-exactly-the-same-so-get-over-1440622570
  10. Oh no, they landed, but it wasn't Aldrin and Armstrong. Well, it was them, but only after they were taken over by extraterrestrials.
  11. Yea, he's also anti-vaccine as well - fortunately his only child is grown and health and mostly immunized. I just hope he doesn't convince anyone else to skip their kids from shots.
  12. Sucks to be in Michigan, don't it?! LOL, sorry, couldn't help it. It's to rain tomorrow here, and be sunny and maybe even 50 on Sunday. Better believe I'm riding!
  13. You're absolutely right, sometimes it's been tough to not just break it off, and I don't spend as much time with him as I used to, but I do enjoy respectful debate with folks who have radically different perspectives from time to time. He's become a dyed-in-the-wool Infowars-type conspiracy follower, but we still manage to respect each other as people. Somehow. :-)
  14. Obama is too busy federally mandating chemtrails to make us dependent on government assistance. No lie, I have a friend who sincerely believes that.
  15. As opposed to a specialized one trick pony bike that you have to augment with other one-trick pony bikes? I guess that's one way to go...
  16. And remove cowling to access airboxes and spark plugs... Absolutely! And rehabilitate old project bikes...
  17. This thing looks awesome. And for those worried about the extra goodies, you might want to get used to it. Bike telemetry and adjustability will become a standard feature in upscale motorcycles over the next 5 years.
  18. Great post RD. I top off my tank, add stabilizer, run it until I've fed the bowls and jets, top off the tires, but on the tender and if I know the bike won't be used until spring, I bring the battery into the house. With everything else I follow the manufacturer's intervals to a Tee. After 3 winters of that, I haven't had a single issue with even my oldest bikes. That said, you posted some extra steps I'm going to have to consider for good measure.
  19. "I see your scrabble is very good, but how is your Szechuan?!"
  20. There were several investigative reports years ago about the hackability of electronic voting machines and it was basically demonstrated that a motivated pair of actors could easily compromise vote integrity. I'm too lazy to dig up the links at the moment, but I know that Diebold was specifically named. As such, I completely agree that the risk of white collar voting fraud is much higher than the risk of manual vote stuffing.
  21. Yea, that doesn't make sense to me either. I saw a number of them near polling places yesterday.
  22. Ditto to what Tim and Brian said: Your phone is the cheapest way to go by far, and will do 90% of what you want unless you're a hard-core traveler. I researched the heck out of this topic and ALMOST plunked down $400 on a TomTom Rider but decided to stay with my iPhone and buy TomTom's $25 app. It has its quirks and I use Google Map most of the time, but the TT app does "windy route" routing that can be kinda fun when you're looking for new roads to travel. You definitely want a power supply, and will want to take extra caution with heat and moisture. Also bind it to your bluetooth helmet for spoken instructions - especially useful when you need to put the phone in your pocket to avoid overheating in the heights of summer.
  23. I don't generally find fault with anyone else's prepping, but IP's post matches my philosophy almost to a Tee. I'm prepared for a couple weeks' worth of services disruption and isolated civil unrest, but I'd never be able to fend off a large-scale mob attack or governmental take-over of my property or person without spending my entire savings on an impenetrable bunker, and that's just not worth it to me. I'd rather spend the mental, emotional, creative, time and monetary investments towards things far more likely to occur, like my kiddo going to college, possibly losing my job or changing careers, having to pay for age-related or accident-related healthcare, retirement, replacement of a vehicle, etc. So I guess the only thing I'd find fault with anyone's prepping, is if they're sacrificing their fundamentals to asymmetrically prepare for less likely events.
  24. I think that is indeed illegal, and hopefully very restricted. I personally received straight-ticket voting cards for both the republican and democratic parties in the mail, but I didn't see anyone at my polling place violating the "protected space" rules. Short lines too - easy as always in my area.
