Welcome to OhioRiders! That's a fast bike and I bet a blast to ride. I have a 2013 Beta 350 RR-S and ride Wayne and Perry occasionally, usually with another Westerville guy on a 500 exc. Sometimes we hit events put on by local groups like the Flint Ridge, Peace Pipe and Grassman Enduros and Dual Sports rides. I've personally found the family enduros to be more my level/age group/risk tolerance than the full-on ones, but to each their own. Within Wayne National Forest, the monday creek main corridor is the easiest route and has tons of flow, but there are some adjacent hill climb areas and Long Ridge can be challenging. One of the neat things about the main corridor is that it can have rained the day prior and it's still a blast if you air the tires way down or even better are running tubliss with good knobbies. Seat height is always a tradeoff, and I get it - my inseam is only 30" and I enjoy the Beta's lower by 1/2"-or-so seat. At first I thought I'd want to lift the forks and thrown a lowering link on the shock but I gradually got used to it. My boots add at least 1/4" to my height and I intuitively now just look for a small rise on either side before I stop. You should be standing on the bike most of the time anyway, so in practice seat height is only a big deal when you're starting, stopping and dabbing (very, very rarely because it can cause injuries). I suggestion would be that if you modify the suspension, don't do anything permanent because you may find over time that you'll want that travel and ground clearance back. Anywho, single track really is addictive! This season is drawing to an end unless you add a love for cold, muddy slop and snow. I can barely even think about it without getting depressed.

If the question is to me, I'm not sure I understand. Could you restate it differently?

Apologies for the battery charging tangent, but what you guys say is very true - multi-cell batteries (usually one, two or three parallel rows of a 3-cell series) need to be charged in a way that brings each cell to the same voltages or else you can damage or even cook the battery. A friend into RC airplanes caught his garage on fire charging a 4S cell with a non-balancing charger 4 years ago. I always look for batteries that explicitly state they're compatible with simple chargers (i.e. they have balancing circuits built into the battery) or have a separate balancing charger. You can visually tell the difference by looking for a secondary charging port with 4+ pins (ground plus one pin for each series row).

Something so simple, so bilaterally agreed upon, and even it got fuxored as a way to nudge colleagues into supporting a tax increase until it was stripped from the final bill like a used up hooker. Politicians suck. Government sucks.

Thanks for posting that @Qman - that's pretty validating of the 790 and not very good news for Yammy. I'll be the first will eat crow if the 790 Adventure R has a bunch of first year model woes followed by more next-year China manufacturing gremlins, but I'm pretty excited for the European reports to come in any week now. Another friend and fellow ADV rider @Firedog just put his deposit down on one tonight.

I really want to but I don't honestly think I'll have it by then. I've been told "probably May," but who knows. More likely I'll have the Strom. Nonetheless, yes, we will be getting into ADV stuff :-D.

I can't remember if I mentioned it but a friend and I motorcycled to the High Point MX event near Mount Morris PA (close to Morgantown where I grew up) and really enjoyed it. It's a great track to see the action - you get pretty close. We're planning to go back this summer if anyone wants to come along.

Sorry for the delay Shoop, I don't know why I didn't get a notification. Casper when you look at the components used, I don't think it's out of line. WP fully adjustable shock and forks, lean-angle-sensitive ABS, traction control, a gazillion modes of each, a proven engine, lower weight for its 95 ponies (likely 460ish wet)... It's priced right between the 690 and 1090, and the same as the AT that has lesser suspension and much heavier weight. With shipping, prep, cruise control, heated grips and tax, I'm expecting the R model to cost a little over $16k out the door. I put a deposit on one this past Saturday 🙂and plan to sell my '13 V-Strom 650 as soon as it comes in around May. 2019 models confirmed by techs trained in CA and OH to be built in Austria. Plans are to produce the 2020+ models in China in CFMoto facilities. Lots of people are scratching their heads about that decision. Could be they'll source them from both locations for different markets. Good question. My guess is that the suspension won't be as good but will be priced maybe $250 less, but they need to actually get them out the factory first.

Damnit, now I'm out - I was voluntold to validate a software deployment at noon on Saturday and have a defensive handgun training class on Sunday. Could someone do me a favor and check the KTM booth for a 790 Adventure S? I've got a woodie for one and want to get a sense for when they'll start to appear in showrooms this year.

Mixed bag but overall good! I've been riding a Beta dirt bike and started down the Trials rabbit hole last winter but re-herniated a disc in May. Got it operated on in October and have been rebuilding my core since then. How have you been?

Traveling with Bob/Wojo and my friend Lenny, to arrive by 11ish Saturday and staying until 2 or 3 before grabbing lunch nearby then heading back to Columbus. I'm hoping KTM has their 790 Adventure S there, but even if not, I want to scout out the other ADV and DS offerings.

Anyone else almost always head into Scenic on the right, then realize Main dropped to the left? I think I've done that three times then turned around, wanting to go back and see what Scenic is all about.

I've been wanting to ride the Hatfield/McCoy trails on my 350RR-S. Not sure what kind of a rider I am - I can get around pretty much everything at Wayne and the mild hill climbs at Perry (can do the far left gravel cliff path and waterfall when it hasn't rained for a few days). Also had a blast finishing the Grassman family enduro but had to tap out of Flint Ridge's DS after 10 miles of exhaustion. If that's close to y'alls skills, I wouldn't mind joining.
