Sv650 are good bikes, epecially when you are first starting of out. Congrats on starting out with the BRC before jumping into motorcycle ownership. That is the way to go.

It depends on what type of bike and riding you do. Sport bike or HD, then leather is probably your best route. Touring bike, and your best route is probably mesh or synthetic shell (Cordura or other).

It does suck. I am going to change mine in May. A couple of weeks before the trip. Did your bike catch on fire? It looks like fire extinguisher went off.

You could definitely put a lot of miles at a high rate of speed on that bike. Nice find!

It was a smart ass comment. If they suck, then why did you list them? I have a lot of gear from a number of manufacturers, including some Firstgear and Klim items. They are waterproof, breathable, and very comfortable. Price was less of an issue for me. I bought them based on reviews by long distance riders. Motorcycle gear is truly very subjective. Each of those manufacturers has multiple pieces that are waterproof and breathable. Gear is highly subjective to fit, quality, and comfort. You should try them on to know what will work best for you. Anything but Aerostitch, Klim, and Firstgear sucks and should never be worn.

I wish I could transfer our meals and snacks to someone. I would give them to you right now. We have a boatload of them left. One can only eat so many 3 course meals in a week, and we have exceeded ours. I told the wife that I intended to give away the 30+ snacks that we have left remaining. Strangers will probably wonder what is wrong with us, but if we paid for it, someone should enjoy it. I will probably skip the last day at the park, because it $uck$. I was thinking about renting a Wing and riding to Key West and back tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't think I can ride 800 miles in a day then drive the long ride home in my current condition. I have insurance, so I will never shoot anyone over a motorcycle. I have a CCW, so I usually have it on my person when buying things on Craigslist. Dumb people do dumb things, and people tend to get what they deserve.

I received a response, and they are going to take acton: "Thank you for emailing Senator Balderson regarding concerns with earphone/earplug use and motorcycles. Senator Balderson received your message and asked me to look into it for him. I contacted the Ohio Department of Public Safety and they researched the issue. They concluded that it was inconsistent with state law to have that paragraph on encouraging the use of hearing protection in their motorcycle handbook, and they will be removing it from future editions. They also told me that if it is something we would like to change, it would become a legislative issue. I have talked to Senator Balderson about potentially formulating a new bill that would allow motorcyclists to wear earplugs for health reasons to prevent hearing loss. Although I certainly can't guarantee anything at this point, I wanted to let you know that we are aware of the issue and are looking into it. Senator Balderson is an avid motorcyclist himself, so he is always interested in helping out fellow motorcyclists. I will stay in touch with you if I have " :smh: Apparantly, common sense has no business in legislative or beaurocratic matters.
