  1. You calling the C14 fat? OK, it is a big bike. I sat on the Ninja 1000, and it is kind of tall. But like Pokey said, the lowering links are popular They can be gotten for most popular bikes, but they will slightly reduce your cornering.

  2. I was tired of this crappy weather and this morning I said screw it. This morning’s commute was 24 degrees. The ride home (at noon) was a nice 40+ degrees. Ohio is now a little less miserable. My view of acceptable riding weather is skewed because of this prolonged cold winter. Thank God Iron Pony had deeply discounted heated gear earlier this winter. Riding season is now upon us.

  3. And many would venture to say, that the BMW 1200GS might very well be the best all touring bike available. The more that riders are starting to discover the ADV style bikes like the Tigers/Stroms/GS/Tenere/KTM Adventure/Moto Guzzi Stelvio....etc, they are quickly seeing how amazingly comfortable and sporty they are for distance riding and seriously exploring.

The proof of this statement is on the Iron Butt Associations website. The BMW 1200GS is a common bike on their rallies. I ride with a couple of guys that have them, and was surprised at how sporty they could handle those bikes, and we were weighted down with camping gear.

The new ADV bikes are no joke for all around touring.

  4. HDs are what they are. I don't understand why they give the VRod guys a hard time. At least they are HD guys.

It will be interesting to see if they are more open to water cooled bikes in the future. You can only reliably produce so much power with an air cooled motor. Water cooled Harley's are inevitable. Project Rushmore and the small entry level bikes are just the beginning.

  5. This thread reminds me of some old jobs that I had along time ago, and it makes me sad for our future. I have worked in a union shop, so I understand the union and seniority games.

For America to have it's brightest future possible, we all need to be as productive and efficient as possible. There are other countries that are far more hungry than we are as a whole. Our economy will continue to have lackluster growth compared to other more competitive societies unless we do something about it.

OP good luck with whatever direction you proceed.
