  1. +1 Personally I like darker reds on cars, but given what you've posted I too must vote for Viper Red.
  2. The valve is normally off and venting. Best way to check the circuit is to put a test light between the terminals. Unless you have a scan tool to command it on it shouldn't light. This would be working normally.
  3. And you work in sales right? You're missing the bigger picture, the dealership does not pay retail, sales sees retail so all departments show a profit. So is that your way of trying to get a dig in at me, by thinking you look better working at "bigger major dealers" and I work at joe bob motors? Get real, I'm only pointing out what actually happens, just to say that a dealership pays retail is pretty fucking dense.
  4. Here it is spoken by the professional welder. I have tried to use a HF welder before, fuck that, save yourself the time and hassle and buy something decent. I'm no pro but I can do decent welding with a decent MIG.
  5. Remove the valve and see if it works right. I'd bet it won't, need to find out where the restriction is that is keeping the tank from venting.
  6. If you think any dealer is paying retail, you are certainly misinformed. Any bussiness buying a lot of parts will get a break. Just because the parts and service department bill sales at retail doesn't mean the dealership paid retail. It's just a game most dealerships with multiple departments play. Firestone sells its tires to anyone, could be through a retail store, wholesaled out of the same retail store, or through a distributor. They certainly serviced the car in their service department.
  7. The only reason anybody struggles with most tire mounting is because they forget the basics of getting the tire into the bead relief. If the kids busting tires in most tire shops would have to do a few sets without the machine they'd have a much easier time mounting tires. Congrats on being smarter then most $8 an hour tire shop employees. If it were me I would've just put tire balancing powder in the tire when I mounted it. For larger tires and such I prefer this type of product over weights. Just a simple search here is one company that makes it http://www.innovativebalancing.com/index.php
  8. My sympathy to you and your family. I wish I had some words to make it easier for you, but you're a good guy Pat and I'll remain positive for you. You know how to get a hold of me if you just need to get away from that madness and stress.
  9. That is really going above and beyond for the students in your school. It may be beneficial for both parties involved, but giving those students something to talk about after school is really cool.
  10. Ok. If you consider how the ABS system works, it wouldn't be very useful if it would work with the space saver on it. Going from say a 27 inch tall tire on your average car to a 25 inch space saver you loose 6 inches or so of rollout on that wheel making it's speed off enough to make it think that it's slipping when it's not.
  11. So it is going to work as designed with different sized tires? :dumb: This is how I took the question, and is how I answered it. I work on cars every day and telling someone simply "yeah you'll be fine go ahead" will get you into trouble. Will there be any ill effects? Maybe, maybe not, but when I bring up ABS as a possible issue, it's just that possible. And space saver spares have been the cause of ABS issues as well, that is not good reasoning. Now on a serious note, if it were me and it was $30 for some decent tires for my beater I would try it. Just know that the ABS could get much more sensitive, and with a weight shift in the car handling will be effected, how much you'll have to find out. Likely not a big deal at all even though people want to argue about what "could" happen.
  12. This is just outright incorrect information. I don't know if the car has ABS or not. If it does you can not have different wheel speeds for it work properly. It was an option on a 98 Neon, and it would have 4 speed sensors if it does. There weren't very many vehicles (usually trucks) that only had ABS on either the front or rear wheels, but there were a few when ABS first started becoming common in the early 90s.
  13. Well it depends on how much difference there is, but it'll screw with ABS and traction control if it has that, and will mess with the handling. Of course the closer the tires are, the less effect there will be.
  14. This. Can't be much out there for the DI V8s yet. However I look forward to watching this stuff develop.

    Genius.

I don't have those exact ones, but I do have something very similar. Great tool for pulling valve covers off a Subaru. Mine have a flex head.

    Genius.

I'll be in to get some at that price. You may be able to do most everything without that tool, but the one time that would come in handy it makes me money. These kind of things in my toolbox can be really nice to have.
  17. Wish I could justify buying the whole thing, but I hope you post up any parts you take off as I will be very interested in that. Its too bad I already have a Miata, this looks like a great buy. GLWS
  18. I've always had luck returning the vehicle to stock and using it on another vehicle, but have seen plenty that don't work after doing this. I wouldn't mind buying one local so I could make sure it workedand then paid for a used one. Otherwise just buy a new one. Personally after getting away handheld junk and using EFILive and HPTuners, I would never buy any heldheld bullshit again. Find an applicable program and learn to use it, you'll thank me, it's money well spent. Tuning deisels is pretty easy anyway.
  19. This makes sense, depending on how much line pressure the trans has at idle. Some with relatively stock pumps and such may not make much at idle. I've never built a trans with aa break in it, but I'll bet there are a coule supporting mods that make it work better. Hopefully its not a big deal and you can get it all working.
  20. Wish I had the money that is a smokin deal.
  21. Could very well have a dying alternator with the check gauges light on, which gauge read wrong? I'd be curious what codes are in it at this time.
  22. Really Tom in the cars and coffee thread? Attention boys and girls, there is a tech section for this stuff.
  23. Not sure why anyone would buy a boring car. Sure they look smart on paper, but why not smile when you go places? People who drive these plain Jane cars confuse me, boring old Subaru wagons, slow little egg shaped Yaris, or pick-up trucks. I mean sure they have their place, but if you don't need a bunch of extra utility why ruin your life with boring stuff. If I lived on the coast, a Jeep would be at the very bottom of my list, with fast convertibles and sports cars at the top. Buy the damn FR-S and smile more.
  24. I'll give you whatever scrap price is and come get it.
  25. It's called no child left behind. Maybe if it wasn't so PC to cater to dummies people could rise to the challenge, and we can just leave the weak links behind. Why would the dummies get smarter if they are enabled to be dumb? If you're too dumb to live, just die, and die off we will.
