Doesn't sound all that abnormal for a carb, but I'm sure it could stand to be leaned out a little. I would shoot for somewhere in the 13s cruising and mid to high 12s under WOT. Most NA engines are pretty similar in this regard, just be aware that optimal timing would be different at the different AFRs. The more fuel takes longer to burn and would need more timing, so you may want to pull a few degrees and see how it does. Hence why tuning on a dyno is so nice.

I would start with a MIG, sounds like you have access to one, and it's a great basis to get the concept down. Then move on to a TIG, get someone to give some pointers to get you started and then practice.

Sounds like an internal leak in the master cylinder, looking between the booster and master cylinder may not show anything.

Came to post this, I am not a fan of them at all, but if she really wants one make sure you have some warranty. I would suggest GMPP extended warranty if possible as this is basically a factory extension. These things suck about wearing out transmissions, having power steering noise, leaking steering racks, leaking power steering pumps, noisey brakes, and the early ones are horrible about timing chain stretch. If you do find one let me know and we'll see how it was treated with warranty claims.

Had a similar issue with Wow over the weekend dropping my internet connection. After resetting my stuff we called them and they said it was on their end. Then it happened again. We haven't had them long but my wife is ready to switch again.
