  1. Thats really cool, but I'm very jelly. Hopefully someday I can drive something like that.
  2. I worked there, 5 or so years ago. The hours do suck, and I like the dealership enviroment a lot. Not sure that is a route I want to take.
  3. Sounds electrical for sure, poor trigger, ground, ect. Does it have a tuner on it? That might be something I'd byass if possible.
  4. This is not new news. It's just a big science experiment for them, and bragging rights.
  5. So I started at Byers Mazda Subaru back in January, and at that time we had a good work flow and things were going well. Since then they have added on to the service department, split up the shop so now all I see are Mazdas, and hired on 4 more people since I started. Well guess what? I've been having a hard time turning hours, no big surprise. I came here for the work flow, and there are some good guys here to work with, but it seems everyplace thinks they need too many techs. So basically I'm brainstorming, and looking for ideas. Does anyone know of some busy shops? I'm ASE Master with L1, Mazda Senior Certified already, with experience in GM and Subaru. I need the potential to earn 50k a year, not this bullshit where 30-40 hours isn't even coming in the door for me, I can only upsell so much, and spend a big part of my day standing around.
  6. Don't sell the truck!! If you want to sell some of the drivetrain thats one thing, but you'll regret selling the chassis. If you put it on the backburner for a while so you can play with something else you'll be happy in a few years when its still there.
  7. Yes the car hooked pretty damn good all day, but you have a white helmet.
  8. I pulled off a 12.3 at 111, not bad considering the mismatched parts on my car at this point. Spent a good part of my time playing with Wagner's car, which was more fun anyway, I know my junk is worn out and slow. I'm looking for Tina to post a 13 second pass, since I ran a 13.7 in her stock Firebird.
  9. Its a stock long block with spray and headers. It needs a cam and 10s will be cake.
  10. Those of you who have spent much time with Brian know he's a pretty reserved person, and to see how excited he was coming out of the car after that pass was really fun for me. It has been nice having something to work on I didn't have to pay for, and he let me treat like it was mine. Car worked out really well today, and we all had a lot of fun.
  11. What is going on with your list?
  12. John is still there, not sure about Chris (at least I haven't met him), there have been a lot of sales people come and go this year. I don't talk to those guys much but I'm sure I can find out who is good to deal with by talking to the older techs who have been there 30 years. I have only been at Byers since January.
  13. Pretty much sums up my day.

    e-85

I always assumed that it had mostly to do with how much they sell and how often the tank at the station gets refilled. It's not really a high moving fuel so it makes sense to me that some stations are mixing fresh into their winter blend. I wish I knew, if the ethanol content was more predictable I'd consider running it. Maybe when I go standalone in the Miata I'll incorporate an ethanol sensor, that car would benefit the most anyway.

You must be missing the point. Mileage is worse on E-85, it has an octane rating around 105 and makes great race gas.
  16. It involves cars, so I will be seeing it. I don't care if its good or not, if you like cars you should support car movies, the more money they make the bigger budget the studios will give future car movies.
  17. Got a good deal on that. This post makes me feel :dumb:
  18. This is the look Wagner always has when I'm working with him. http://waggz.smugmug.com/Other/Leannes-Pictures/i-67CJxmb/0/S/IMG_2034-S.jpg
  19. This whole thread sounds like nobody has any idea. Let me start by saying that I have no experience modding an old 305. However, I have to agree with Craig (sinisterSS) as this is a huge waste of time, but if you are concerned with PTV clearance you'll have to pull the heads and check it. Since you seem to not care about this motor I guess you could just stick it in there and see what happens. As for your questioning some guys comments, you need to know the differences in the 350 and 305, I mean the bore, stroke, shape of piston, size of valves, and size of chamber, as this will help you understand how PTV clearance will be checked. Honestly I doubt its an issue but I don't know. Usually when people talk about 305 clearance issues they are refering to the valves being too close to the cylinder wall when changing heads. Go do some research on how the geometry effectgs the engine components in general, and then get some numbers for yourself so you can figure it out.
  20. You may want to put the part number up there, they only make a half dozen different versions. Looks like the turbo high clearance version for the LS1? Wish I had the money. GLWS
