  4. More proof Thorne doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. 1. Buy goofy sheild 2. post pic of said sheild on a car site 3. sit back from computer screen like a boss http://i.qkme.me/3pe6mc.jpg but not really. If smart Thorne would fall on the sword I see there in the backround like a boss. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20061218211919/uncyclopedia/images/thumb/5/59/Fall-on-sword.png/200px-Fall-on-sword.png in other words kill yourself.
  5. Hmmm... do the wheel bearings have any play in them? If it's metal on metal noise there should be some shiny spots on something somewhere. Kind of interesting, seems like you need to do some more detective work.

    sawmill?

Chad fixed it up pretty nice, and I've been working on it today, you wouldn't recognize it.
  7. Good way to look at it. So everyone should consider him killed in action.

    sawmill?

Yup Chad sold it to me.

    sawmill?

Want to put some miles on my new beater, so I'll find my way up there at some point.
  10. Okay thread closed, if you need it reopened just let me know. Wish some of that would fit my cars but I'm too late anyway.
  11. Yeah it'll put you in the 26-27 inch tall tire range, 4.10s would be a little much for a lot of people on the street. Making it cruise about 3500rpm or so on the highway. I still don't think going to 3.73s from 3.42s is worth it though imho.
  12. Depending on tire size and goals I might suggest 4.10s or even 3.90s, because with the 4L60 highway cruising it will be doable. Iirc S10 SSs had about a 26 inch tall tire which might make the 4.10s too much for most people. I am of the opinion that going from 3.42 to 3.73 is not even worth the effort, let alone having to pay for it.

You guys were in school, I was working on a remodel (back when I was doing electrical work) down near campus. News came over the radio and I went down to a bar and saw it on the news. I vividly remember sitting at home that night holding my infant daughter wondering how this would affect her.

A very sad memory, I stopped working for a few minutes this morning for my own moments of silence for the victims. I will never forget.
  16. The traction control shouldn't kick on without wheelspin. A slipping clutch would not be spinning the wheels or driveshaft so the traction control should stay off if that was the case. Are your tires excessively worn on the rear? Differing wheel speeds cause the TCS and ABS to work so if there is enough of a difference you have issues, seems like a stretch though. Good luck.
  17. Not me. I'll take a day off to play with my real toys, but the video games can wait for winter time when I can't go out and actually do something.
  18. Sorry to see that happen, hope everything isn't tore up too bad. Looks like that slower car came up a little quicker then you expected. Good job not stuffing that guy and tearing up two cars.
  19. What kind of car? Could be the computer closing the throttle (assuming its a drive by wire car) based on some false ABS information. Like a sensor acting up or something, of course it very well could be mechanical but your description lacks much detail.
  20. Fix it? I've never felt so dirty explaining ABS to someone, not sure how I got off the phone feeling like I needed a nap and a cigarette
  21. Dude he said he wanted angle. :dumb:
  22. Yup thats it. Use it quite often, last check it was still on the money. Had it about a year.
  23. I have the Snap-on Torque-Angle wrench, which works fantastic, but it's a little higher then your price range. Used some other tech's KD Tools (Gearwrench) version and it worked just as well.
  24. Get a Timken or AcDelco, don't waste your time with the cheap shit at Advanced or Autozone. Trust me the wheel bearings may not last long to begin with, but you'll typically get more life out those two brands. Install usually isn't horrible on those cars, even rusted they can be removed without excessive beating. The price is even a little high for a dealership, the hub is likely almost $400 (dealership price, cheaper elsewhere) and labor should only be about 1.2 hours, putting you around $550. It can be done cheaper obviously.
