  1. Its stuff like this that has always steered me away from Contis, of course all I've ever dealt with are the Contis that come on cars from the factory and I've heard good things about what you buy after the fact.
  2. I love my rough and tumble no nonsense beater DDs that I've had. Yay for old chevy trucks that just keep going.
  3. One of the higher mileage rated Michelins. I'm planning on trying out the new Defenders on my wife's car.
  4. Must be some college level ricer math. I don't get it.
  5. Well thats a lesson in how to do it.
  6. The typical LPO number is LM7, they came in 99 and up Silverados, vans, and SUVs, they are pretty much the same until 08. If it has the older 411 PCM thats what you want, its the PCm that runs Vettes, F-bodies, and trucks, super common, cheap and flexible. That is what I'd look for, these engines will have teh cam sensor on the top back of the block behind the intake, knock sensors under the intake, and a 24 tooth reluctor ring on the crank. This is what I'd look for.
  7. A 4.8 is a POS, basically it's a short stroked 5.3 that makes no power and gets horrible gas mileage. People prefer the 4.3 V6 to the 4.8. The 5.3 is a great all around truck motor, and for a few bucks more there is the 6.0L that can be had pretty reasonable and runs even better. LQ4 6.0 are slightly lower compression then the LQ9 but perform great. 5.3s have lots of LPO codes but are all pretty similar just keep in mind that the older versions with 24 tooth reluctor wheels on the crank are going be much cheaper to get a PCM and related stuff set-up for since these can easily be set-up with a cable driven throttle body, ect. Any specific questions feel free to ask, I like talking about this shit.
  8. http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac326/riapooh18/7553319d.jpg Your photobucket album is boring.
  9. You're welcome to ask me anything, I lost your number though. I figured you'd need decent money and I'm sure you'll get it considering the shape the truck is in. I can't really afford it anyway, I have way to much crap around here anyway according to my wife.
  10. So is that a factory 5.3 truck or I-5? Either way it'll be a sweet truck when you're done, and if you really want to part with your Silverado I'm very interested. I'm in no hurry but if you want to pull all your stuff out and sell it so you don't have to put it all back together....just a thought.
  11. I think I might just go regardless, it looks like its moving off. Fuck it I want out of the house. I'll just take my time getting there. Edit: why is that shit moving backwards? Is that the stupid hurricane thing moving inland?
  12. Man thats awefully cheap, makes me leary about their quality as it seems you are too. I have a couple similar products that were a lot more expensive. Basic plug in scanners are pretty cheap anymore so the first one being some off brand like that doesn't surprise me, but if I can get a basic Mac scanner like that for $60 why wouldn't you just spend a few bucks more so you can take it somewhere and bitch if it stops working? The other thing seems a little too good to be true for $60, the Aeroforce Scangauge in my Camaro was over $250 new.
  13. Welcome to the site, you can continue talking here. Nice bike.
  14. I put my 150 jets in after my first pull on 100, it just makes such a big difference especially when you're just doing a safe tune that I wouldn't even bother with less. The right tuneup and safe settings there no reason to worry, because things will eventually break regardless of how much you spray, the engine should take it.
  15. I'd like to go up and don't mind helping out, and the last time I was up there I seized up the posi in my 9" cutting killer 60' times. I'd be disappointed if it doesn't hook good.
  16. Just a lack of experience, I'll get serious about changing jobs after Christmas, right now I'm not going to lose this nice bonus I've built up. Just weighing options and getting opinions right now.
  17. Some fuel tank are pretty bad about leaking around where the fill tube connects, some of those trucks may have been involved in the TSBs can't remember. It goes in at the back of the tank and shouldn't be hard to see looking underneath just to check, but I thought you said the fuel gauge wasn't working right?
  18. I've been thinking more about this lately, my Dad was a master Mazda tech for 25 years and he's convinced that imports are better for making money. To be honest German cars are intimidating since I've never really worked on them. Glad to hear the industry is getting better for you, but my best day as an electrician wasn't as good as my worst day working on cars. That stuff just isn't for me.
  19. That's shitty, I enjoyed it.
  20. This. You have a 6 speed car, its not as big of a deal. I have the 233-239 in my car, its not bad but I would've went bigger if i had it to do over again.
  21. Noticed those sitting there, since I do work about a block away.
  22. You can ask, I'd appreciate it and I'm interested, but keep in mind I'm not looking to move until after bonus time which is around Christmas. I have a feeling that it won't be very feasable until spring.
  23. Is it running a f-body accessory drive? Are you including the balancer and such? I'm kind of interested in it, but it seems pretty frankenstein'd already.
