  1. I agree with you. I guess I've basically been in pretty similar demographics most my career so I never thought about it quite like that. Honestly we get alot of crap where it was at some backyard mechanic that couldn't fix it. So their answer is always "take it to the dealer". Been thinking about doing something similar, not sure if I want that or not. How far is it? I'm not worried about Ford's but I'm under the impression that you have to be Ford Certified to get paid for any warranty.
  2. cliffs: work is shitty and slow, is the grass greener anywhere else?
  3. I've been working here at Dave Gill Chevrolet for almost 3 years. It's been up and down, I've come a long way, but since I lost my experienced service advisor my hours have been shit. I went from averaging 50-60 flat rate hours, to lucky to make over 30 lately. It seems that the whole shop is slower but not as bad as I am. I want to ride this place out till the end off the year when I get the bonuses I've earned but after that I don't know what I want to do. Obviously it would seem logical to go to another GM dealership because I have done well here in the past, but I'm not sure about that. I've worked for most of the chain stores at some point and hated all of them, Monro, Midas, Firestone, Tuffy, NTB, Tire Discounters, some for a couple days, Monro I was at for about a year. Those places suck, I like fixing cars not changing oil and trying to get people to buy shit. I'm not a people person, I deal with my co-workers just fine but I don't like talking to most people or trying to explain things so selling is not my strong suit. Is there anything out there that would be a good fit? I'm open to ideas, but I need to find a place that will challenge me or I'll get bored. I am an ASE Master technician, with multiple years of experience. I also worked as an electrician for about 6 years out of high school, with a 2 years of trade school for electrical. All I've ever been good at is putting shit together and driving, and since I can't get a job driving...
  4. Is it just me or does it look like they covered this guy in fur? http://content7.flixster.com/photo/51/52/83/5152837_ori.jpg
  5. Bad fuel level sensors are pretty common on Trailblazers, Envoys, Bravadas, ect. The long crank thing may or may not be related, could always be a poor connection on the tank, but iirc I've repaired a few loose grounds on a few of those trucks as well. Honestly its much easier for me to remember when I'm looking at it, but I think the ground is near the front of the leaf spring and I've seen them corroded off. Anyway you can always look for loose wires around that section of frame. The only way to verify the long crank would be to have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up when it happens to see if its a fuel pressure thing.
  6. I'm pulling my R888s off the Miata because I wore them out this summer, not because its getting cold.
  7. It doesn't look as horrible as I thought, though I'd much rather do them at work. Job pays 4.6 hours book time just as a reference. I can ease the pain of dealership prices if you want to get it done here but it still won't be cheap.
  8. They don't list that they are looking for any ASE techs. I guess I'm too over qualified for them.
  9. I might not run one on a race car, but something tells me that the track wouldn't like that. If it's a street car or truck I'd keep it there so nothing can get caught up in there.
  10. What is a networking or linkedin event? and if you guys think I'm kidding I'm not. My life revolves around cars, computers have just become a big part of that, I don't really use technology for much else.
  11. This is exactly how my family has handled pets, they simply have to know who runs the house. People who don't do this can have similar results with children who think they can get away with shit. This works too, but I don't care for nippy rat-dogs anyway.
  12. Wish I could afford to go, between work being slow and my car needing some things fixed it just isn't in the cards for me, I wish it was.
  13. LOL! This is what will come after a few more bullshit elections of politicians throwing dirt on each other, this is what a debate will look like.
  14. You're about as retarded as the dumbass shooting his stinky relatives.
  15. bitch please :dumb: keep on making bitter posts and talking shit.
  16. What is this bitter post day from you? Sorry you have to keep making yourself feel better and justifing that fancy 4 door, 4 cylinder, alternative to a soccer mom van, cutsie Honda base model you drive. :gabe:
  17. Nice time. I could never run good times at trails once I got in the 11s. So I feel your frustrations sliding around. Should run really well once you get a good track and some more seat time. Getting to know your car requires a fairly consistant track like the few times I've been to Kilkare or D42, and there's never as many people to deal with.
  18. Sounds like a bunch of envious fuckers in here, OP has a cool street car and a real race car and it's like this? Shit, I'd brag too.
  19. Really? Must be because I have a Camaro too that I don't feel outcast. Anyway, nice cars, dirty, but sound like cool projects, welcome.
  20. Just what I was thinking, cool car, hopefully it doesn't live up to the reputation of being problematic. Its definitely not something you see all the time, so that really ups the cool factor.
  21. I think this will answer your questions. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76733
  22. I always wear a condom when I'm worried about a virus.
