Time has come to get rid of one of our cars and we don't drive this much anymore since my wife bought her Cobalt. We bought it in 2003 and she daily drove it until last year when the transmission let go. So the transmission has less then 10k miles on it, it was completely rebuilt. So the bad, has a few decent sized dents on the driver's side from people parking too close, the CD player doesn't play CDs anymore (just says error and spits it back out), a couple of the dash lights are out, the struts are worn, the trunk only opens by the button in the car, the fob doesn't work (should just need a battery but I'm lazy), the oil pan seeps a little oil but it doesn't drip on the ground, and it has 166k miles on it. The good, tires are 50%, A/C blows cold, new window switches, brand new MAF, brand new Delphi fuel pump, recent radiator, recent radiator fans, recent heater core, recent coolant tubes by alternator that always crack, new blower motor, new blower resistor, brakes are about 50% (some surface rust from sitting), freshly rebuilt transmission, new valve cover gaskets, would make a reliable daily. This car has every option available on an Impala in 2001, onstar, sunroof (doesn't leak), leather, both front seats are power, ect. I've been very good about keeping the oil changed, keeping the alignment straight, and keeping the fluids fresh. Kelly Blue Book says fair market value is $3200, Im asking $2500. We're not looking for any trades, we have 3 other cars. Both the 4 cylinder and V6 S10s are pretty reliable engines, but the 4 banger is underpowered IMHO. I've had 5 different S10s with every engine but a 2.2. The 4.3 is an awesome engine in those trucks, the 2.8 and 2.5 drive about the same not horrible with a 5 speed but not very peppy either. If you look into Rangers avoid the 4.0L, everything else is pretty comparable to S10s.

Well at least you posted a pic. I raced karts too when I was a kid almost 15 years ago. Where do you race on dirt around here? Take my advice, stay calm and humble, and don't post in every thread and you'll be welcomed here, so welcome.

There are big positives to doing a LSx swap, but there are lots of parts that you wouldn't have to buy to stay with the LTx. If you want to be able to drive it going to the LS motor with its much better easier to tune computer, stronger block, and better flowing heads you'd find it hard to beat. If it were me I'd pick up a used LQ4 out of a junkyard and rebuild. Mine is a good set of heads and bigger fuel system away from running 9s while being very streetable, my A/C works, my exhaust is very reasonable, and its managable. I have a lot of respect for what the LTx guys accomplish with their stuff, but I think in the end it'll cost about the same to build a decent engine, an LS might save you a few bucks using the stock crank and such but would have to buy other stuff to swap it.

My car has a 370ci LQ4 iron block with forged rods and pistons, fairly budget build, and a 150 shot of nitrous. It really isn't anything special, I used good parts where I needed to. There should be more in it, but I never wanted to push the drag racing and met my goals of running 10s with some nitrous.

I know the car won't be as good as a Vette, but it will eventually get shocks, springs, and bars. Need to get the drag race stuff off first. I went autocrossing. I should still be able to get my free stall adjustment from Circle D. I can set up my own gears, but I wanted to put a lighter weight center section in it. This one is heavy but bulletproof, it will be overkill for my new plans. Anything like what? I never wanted to make it a dedicated drag car so the other parts on the car are still stock or not getting changed.

Sounds like the actuator isn't working right for the mode door, not sure off hand if the truck is vacuum operated or electrical. If it's vacuum make sure none of the lines have come loose, if it has an electrical actuator it may have gone bad and can be pulled off and you can select different air delivery setting and make sure it moves through it full range. My bet is on it needing an actuator, not too uncommon.

It'll also take one of them to be able to drive, no offense but if I can beat all of them they aren't going to take down the big dogs.
