    LOL

Yeah he made some Facebook post a couple weeks ago about walking away and having no part in it.

    LOL

Hmm might be ugly before it finally falls apart, glad I didn't take part in IPS so I can just watch from the sidelines.
  5. I can't say I'm surprised. Get another Jeep?

You can buy the T56 magnum from Jeg's or lots of places, it's a mass produced trans that is intended for hotrods. Even the GM Performance catalog.

Because the tailhousing would need changed to that of a T56 for most applications which means customizing the output shaft and shifter components. A 5th gen Camaro has a remote shifter, and a fixed yoke on the trans output making it a much more difficult swap. That is what companies like Tick and RPM are doing to a TR6060 to convert it, machining a few parts (I'm not an expert on the details) to change the back of the trans to fit like a T56 with shifter location and driveshaft. What you may want to consider is the T56 Magnum that can be bought brand new for $3k. It's basically a TR6060 from tremec with a T56 style tailhousing. The shifter is a couple inches farther forward of a stock 4th gen fbody trans, other then that it's really close. They make a shifter that puts it really close but people had issues getting that to work well in a 4th gen car so I decided not to go that route. I don't know what car you are putting this in but maybe you want to try that.
  8. It's nice to start with a fresh smooth surface, and bed them in properly, and it's what most techs including me recommend. However if your car stops fine without noise or vibration you can swap out the pads without hurting anything. You typically risk getting noise, or making vibrations worse (if it has any).
  9. Why wouldn't you take the current trans apart and see how big of a deal it'll be to fix, then decide what the best choice is? Unless you really want to put the forth all the extra effort to convert it, I bet you can fix what you have much easier.
  10. I sure hope not, and hopefully stock. I have grown to really appreciate restorations like this, and I have a lot of respect for the family aspect of it. I hope it goes well for you guys and look forward to watching this thread so please keep us updated.

Well you still didn't answer what tailhousing you need on it. Besides it's not a matter of if it will hold up, it's how long it will last. That wasn't my point anyway, they haven't made T-56s since 2008 so finding a good one isn't cheap. When you can spend $2k on something used that'll last "who knows how long" or a TR-6060 conversion for $4k with whatever combo of parts you want and it is a brand new better shifting trans. I wish I had bought the TR-6060, I spent $700 on a used broken trans, I then spent $2k on parts and cryo-treating. If I had simply bought a $2k T56 I'm sure I would've broken it by now given the way I treat my car, and then spent $2k or more fixing it. This in my opinion is why Tick and their $4k TR-6060 conversion is worth it. If you've ever driven a car with a 6060 in it you'd know it just works better anyway. Just because i posted my advice doesn't mean you have to take it, it also doesn't mean you need to be an asshole and tell me I'm stupid. Have fun breaking parts bud.

That's pretty vague. There are differences depending on years and what car it came out of. You need something 98 or newer for an LQ4, but if it has to be F-body be ready to hunt and spend some coin. I bought one that was locked up for $700 a few years ago to do my conversion and then spent money fixing and cryo-treating it. In my opinion I would just spend the money on a TR6060 conversion from RPM or Tick, you'll be better off in the long run.
  13. Wow, I don't get that at all. Sounds like you have tried a few different approaches with Fiat and their dealer, I'd say fuck them too.
  14. Looks like an inertia dyno, so the higher the power the faster the pull should go. It also looks like he was in overdrive. That dyno pull makes no sense, just sayin.
  15. Stupid ass dyno operator ran the shit out of that car, sounded like he ran through all the gears? Poor guywho owns the Mustang trusted that operator and likely just didn't know any better. That's just a shitty situation.
  16. That's fuckin awesome!
  17. Stance looks perfect, exactly what I would've wanted. I lol'd at the plate, that's perfect for you too. Also the wheel spacers are a nice touch, had to look again, but I see why
  18. Everybody knows I'm diehard GM, but if they don't try to make something even close to that Focus RS I may have to buy a Focus RS in a few years. Sounds like a fantastic daily for a car guy. Plus it'd be a Ford I wouldn't care if it got salt on it.
  19. Oh HAI! I know I'm just your favorite person around here lol
  20. This was my first thought, allowing the valve to float and give it room. Odd that the engine wasn't under hard load though, maybe it came loose and fell all the way out later. Hard to know.
  21. I didn't think banks would loan money on a salvage title? I could be wrong, but I bet at least most banks would tell you to piss up a rope.
  22. Some kind of Monza or something? Edit Nevermind, Looks like an Opel GT under there.
  23. That's awesome. He learned the hardway too. I think I changed my mind, buy a godamn SRT4, enjoy it while it's running, and learn your life lessons the hard way.
  24. I really like the concept of cheap, light weight, and low power. Cars like that can be really fun, ie early Miata. You feel like you're going faster then you are because it has to try harder then something like my Corvette. That approach is great for someone like me who drives too damn fast anyway. I just hate the way that car looks, and a Miata sells plenty of cars simply because it's a convertible, add in the fact that it's a great handling car and it's no wonder it has stuck around appealing to many people. So how that car could possibly have the sales to keep it around when it will only kind of compete with a Miata is beyond me, and why I'd be surprised to see it in the US when most people can't appreciate a car like that anyway. and now that I'm done being serious, fuck it, it's ugly, it's a Toyota, it sucks.
