  2. And always remember, just because you were cited doesn't make you guilty... In the event you are ever cited for this, go to court and fight it. I know it's a bit more of a hassle, but just explain why you wear earplugs while riding, maybe bring in some statistics that show the damage of wind noise on a motorcycle and any magistrate/judge would understand.
  3. Whaler, myself, and wolfman1 bought a full tire changer in the offseason. Would anyone be interested in having us bring it out and getting their tires changed? Not sold on bringing it, (even though we made it portable), but if enough people need to get them changed, we can make that happen. And if not enough people, you can always hit either of us up and we can arrange to get them changed at another time.
  4. In for this. I'll wait in line to see what the new bike has. Probably going to be a bit disappointed in the numbers, but I'd like to know either way.
  5. I recently spoke with the lady assistant from the church (the one we talked to initially) and she has confirmed we are good to go with the meet spot. She said it shouldn't be a problem, but we got final verification today. The preacher requested that we don't do any burnouts. Also they asked that anyone bringing a trailer to please park to the outskirts of the parking lot just so it isn't in the way if they have anyone coming in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Absolutely! Anyone can purchase shirts. Even people not associated with motorcycles could actually find this campaign and purchase a shirt as well.
  7. Here is the initial design for the shirts/hoodies - Shirts will be $20.00 and hoodies $30.00 and teespring will ship directly to your house. They claim it takes 10-14 days to ship, therefore the campaign will end April 21 to ensure everyone gets their shirt in time for the ride. I can only host the campaign for a maximum of 21 days, therefore the sale of shirts will begin April 1, 2015 and end April 21, 2015. Here are the previews: T-shirt front T-Shirt Back: Hoodie Front: Hoodie Back:
  8. Preface: Route and meet place have been chosen based on a few things I've noticed from previous rides. As I went through different route options, I decided on this route because of many factors. I know some riders like more technical roads and others like more sweeping type of roads. This route gives a little bit of both. This will allow for newer riders to come in without getting in well over their heads, but will still easily keep the best of riders entertained. The route is easy to remember and many of these roads are very familiar to those who ride frequently. The meet place was chosen off 83 because many have a tendency to get lost from the meet place to the beginning of the route. This solves the problem. The church has a big enough parking lot for all the bikes and anyone who needs to trailer. It is secluded so that trailers and other vehicles won't be in the way. It is near two gas stations for easy pre/post ride fill ups. There is also a dollar general next door for anyone who may wish to grab a drink or snacks before or after the ride. I went down today and looked at a lot of different options and any good location within Zanesville had a ton of stop lights and many turns within the city. This location is still very accessible as it is right off I-70 and located right on 83. It is ten minutes from Zanesville and starts us more directly on the ride route. Date: SATURDAY - MAY 16 2015 Rain Date: Sunday - May 17, 2015 All details are subject to change - so please follow up to this thread before the event to verify all details are the same! Meet Place: Church of Christ, New Concord OH Maple Ln, New Concord OH Church of Christ parking lot, New Concord OH Time: Meet by 10:30 Start organizing group by 11:00 and kick stand to ride by 11:30 Pre-Ride Meetups: W/SW Rider Meetup NE Rider Meetup Central Rider Meetup NW Rider Meetup (Links TBD) When you arrive we will *hopefully* have areas designated to your group for the ride (i.e. fast, med-fast, med, etc), so please park your bike in the group you wish to ride. This should save some hassle organizing groups later on. T-Shirts T-shirts will be done differently this ride. I will be hosting a teespring event. Anyone who wishes to purchase a shirt, will be able to order one straight from the website. As long as we hit the minimum number of t-shirts, they will print and ship each one to your house so you will have it to wear to the event. If we don't hit the minimum number of shirts, no one will be charged. I will explain this all in detail once we get the logo officially chosen. For those who ordered shirts last event and didn't receive a refund or a shirt, I will purchase a shirt for you on this ride. Some etiquette to help us all better as suggested by many riders: Everyone is responsible for themselves, so ride within your limits. Crashing is not something we want to have happen. We had several incidents last year, some because of bike maintenance and I believe some because they were outside their comfort zone in terms of speed. Ride within your limits and stay safe. Our goal is to have a fun safe day of riding with a bunch who share the same passion. Crashing only ruins that fun, not only for you, but for others as well.Grab a bite if you want before ride as there wont be lunch stops. Ideal maximum group size is ten riders with a lead rider and a tail (sweep) rider. These two riders should be interchangeable in skill level so that the sweep rider can evaluate and help the riders in front of them:These two riders need to know the count of how many riders are in their group. The lead rider needs to wait at all stops for the sweep rider to give him a thumb up.At each stop the leader or sweep rider can switch or at their discretion ask and allow a new formation of the line.Do not allow passing other riders in same group once the ride has started except at starts. Passing slow moving vehicles might be needed for the faster group, when doing this each rider makes times and judges it for them self. Dont wait for the group to pass as a whole. At times might have to cross double yellow to pass. Group leaders and sweeps should know the route well and if possible have ridden it prior to event. Do not allow changes of groups at stops (Unless both ride leaders of both groups are aware of the change and it does not raise the group count to over ten riders. If a rider has to leave a group early make sure they tell someone in the group. Do not pass except at stops. If you picked the wrong spot in line of your group ask to change positions at stops or if a rider signals you to pass. Start the ride with a full tank of gas. Many folks are planning to grab a bite at the end of the ride, those with time should do it as it will be fun. The unfortunate long haulers will start back to get home before dark. The Groups Always start one group below what you feel you ride. Meaning if you think your fast, start with medium fast group and if you are comfortable move to the fast group during gas break after letting the lead and sweep know. Better to be safe than sorry. Remember we might be riding roads very new to you. Fast: Usually 70mph on the straight and 25-30 mph over the posted limit of curve. The people who belong to the group know they belong to this group, they dont think they belong here.Dont jump in here unless you been riding with such fellows for some time. eg: UP, Midgettodd, Hutch, Core rides Medium-Fast: 65-70mph on the straight and 20-25 over the posted limit of curve. This is the usual fast rides some group rides do, still rather fast• Jump in here if you been riding for a while and is comfortable at these paces on most roads Medium: 65 mph on the straight and 15-20 over the posted limit of curve. This is the everyday regular group rides pace,Jump in here if you been riding for a while and is comfortable at these paces on most roads Slow: 60 mph or around posted limit on the straight and up to 10 over the posted limit of curve. This is the a very comfortable yet fun group ride.Jump in here if you like doing friendly fun rides and also new riders must join here. The last two rides most people rode this group showing zero ego issues and they had most fun.No ego in both years kept our rides with 0 casualties. If you could please announce if you plan to attend and which group so I can keep an ongoing list. If you plan on bringing someone else from outside of the forums, or those who don't post, please add a +1 for each member, so we can kind of figure out how many groups we will need to plan for. Also post if you are willing to sweep or lead so we can get a list for that as well. 9. May 16th wins and so does meeting in Zanesville. The next step would be to come up with a good route. I know Jim already posted a few with some modifications. Let's see a few different routes and I'll post a new thread with all the details for the actual ride. Thanks everyone who helped put the first part of the details together.
  10. Make sure everyone gets their vote in.... only a few more days before I close the voting --- Last day is Feb 28th!
  11. Welcome! If you are interested in tagging along with some rides, I'd recommend attending the Epic Ride. We are in the planning stages and its a nice place to ride and meet a lot of the other forum members. Check out the Rides/Events section and keep your eyes peeled for the official details.
  12. Let's just all start hoping for warm weather. That solves all the problems.
  13. Yea, definitely needed to be geared for the beginning. Fortunately for you, it looks like the ride is going to meet in Zanesville this year (if the poll continues on it's current path) so that'll be a much easier ride there for you. And in Ohio, I don't look at weather historical averages, nothing is average about Ohio weather. When it's May 14, maybe I'll take the temps to be a bit more accurate, sure as hell not looking at anything in February hah.
  14. I'm liking the logo's so far... As far as the logo, I would definitely like a permanent logo with the ability to modify it slightly to include either the number of the ride (i.e. 5th Annual, etc) or the Date of the ride. This way things stay consistent, but have a slight difference included as well. So far I like the first one and I do like the skull one, even though I'm not really into skulls. As said before, we don't use the OhioRiders logo on the stuff for liability reasons. This isn't an OhioRiders sponsored event, but rather just using the forum as a medium of helping get everyone together and gathering opinions for routes, meet spots, dates, etc... I might have to get into this competition as far as the logo and put some time into coming up with some creativity. Obviously the 4 leaf clover wasn't a hit hah.
  15. May 16th looks to be the date of the Epic Ride. Probably a different weekend would be better. Or possible that Sunday May 17... Definitely can do that! Lies! You can always avoid the slab and find some decent roads.... ... .... unless you go north or west... lmfao
  16. Sorry I'm a little late to the party but congratulations on your boy Nivin! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. LOL I honestly didn't even think about that when I posted it. Feb 28th... The polls will end on the 28th.
  18. I have added 2 polls for the Spring Epic Ride 2015 - I have allowed for multiple answers to be given, so if you are impartial to multiple dates (or either meet spot) you can vote for multiple answers. Voting will end on Feb 31, 2015 and decisions will then be made. Voting is public as well.
  19. I don't know why people thought the show was poor. I guess I went at the right time. I found some decent deals and all the vendors were very nice and cordial to me (maybe because I was spending cash). I did go early in the morning though so maybe it was different in the afternoon.
  20. As long as it's a Saturday or Sunday in May, I'm in and can bring some guys down also. Would be awesome to put the Z1000 on the dyno for a run to see what it'll put down.
