  1. I had my ass beat with belts and wooden paddles when I was a kid. It was an omnipresent reminder to do what my parents asked of me. I may not agree with everything he did including taping it, but if it helps the kid walk the straight and narrow and grow up to be a productive member of society, so be it.
  2. plus whenever they win a race there isn't 48,285 guys posting vids of it.

That only happens when they lose.

Don't believe everything you see on the intrarwebz, or even try to remotely use net trends to correlate to whats happening in the real world.

People REALLY hate losing to Cobras. Like more than getting raped by a large hairy hungarian grandpa. The latter they'd admit on Jerry Springer. The former gets locked away into the memory closet, never to be spoken of again.

Couldn't be more true. The thousands of wins posted don't seem to draw too much attention. Plus you have guys posting inflated dyno numbers and then embarrassing themselves. That Cobra was not making anywhere near 672RWHP with a 2.2 at 17PSI even with an E85 tune. A 585AWHP GTR is no joke. That's a low to mid 130's car. A certain someone just likes to stir up the Cobra guys. :)

  3. Cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion.

Somehow ESPN will spin it that it's not as bad as the OSU players selling their own stuff...

  4. I took my center console out there 7-8 years ago and was hitting what looked to be old tree stumps about 400 ft from shore. Luckily I was just idling along. The area didn't have markers either. I haven't been back since and don't plan on ever going again. If you do go use caution or plan on replacing the lower unit.
  5. I was facing the same decision about 5 months ago. I did a lot of research on the GTR at Nagtroc.org. The service costs on the car are much higher than one would anticipate for a Nissan. A lot guys were paying $1800-$2000 for the 18,000 mile service which is basically changing the trans. and diff. fluids. If you change it yourself you can buy the fluids for around $750.00. The transmission can be problematic even in the 2010-11 models but it seems like they have worked out a lot of the bugs. If you don't modify the car Nissan certainly seems willing to replace the entire transmission when problems do arise. If you decide to modify and they deny you warranty work be prepared to shell out some serious coin to repair/replace. I prefer the GTR over the Z06 even with all of it's quirks and higher service costs. The Z06 would probably be a more reliable and cheaper car to maintain but the uniqueness, awd, and rear seating drew me towards the GTR. I came very close to buying a grey 2010 in December but ultimately decided to go a different route. You can't go wrong with either car. Hope all is well.
  6. Matt,

Is the inner and outer pipe used for cooling the exhaust inside the boat? Sam and I talked about taking F-Body headers flipping them upside down and running water in the O2 sensor bung to cooler the exhaust when it comes out of the back of the boat.

Yes. The water jackets around the headers keeps the temps low inside the boat. There's not enough airflow back there to keep things cool enough if you run unjacketed headers. Theoretically you could run straight headers and cool them downstream to keep the transom cool but you would probably need to lose the rear sundeck/hatch to keep temps down.

  7. Matt, what do you mean, do they just go around the manifolds then? I am trying to figure out how these work

    http://www.boatheaders.com/images/std%20merc%20header.JPG

Yes. The holes at the bottom introduce water around the exhaust, (there is an inner pipe where the exhaust gasses travel without water) and it mixes with the exhaust gases where they meet at the top. Hope that makes sense.

Here's an old thread on OSO. It might be a good place to get some info on a conversion.

  8. Welp, the 350 motor in my boat let go the other day. I pulled it out today and tore it apart. Camshaft came out in 2 piece, and a few rods are fuzzed to the crank. So now its time for a new motor. I have a few questions first. I am goin to do a 6L ls style motor in my boat. I wanna know do normal boat motors have an external water pump to pump the water to the water pump on the motor? Like the lower unit pump???? Secondly, does the water that flows through the exhaust go actually in the exhaust or chambers surrounding the exhaust. Basically I gotta take some stock 6L manifold, turn the upside down and switch sides. I wanna run water through them somehow and keep the water out of the motor. Also what kind of cam selection do I need to look for?

    Any help is appreciated.

If you have an Alpha drive the raw water pump is in the lower unit and it sends water to the water pump. You'll need to use marine specific exhaust manifolds. They are water jacketed and introduce water into the exhaust gases about halfway down the exhaust riser. Not sure about the cam.

  9. Thats what I said. Not to bad for a worn out 350. I'm hoping the 21 pitch prop puts me in the 63-64 mph range. If not I will try a 23 pitch

Just a suggestion but I would confirm what RPM you're running with the 19" prop before you go up in prop size. If you are turning 4800-5000 RPM you're probably right where you need to be with the prop size. As a rule of thumb you lose 200RPM for each inch increase in prop size. Unless you're increasing the power pretty dramatically to offset the loss in RPM the boat will probably lose top end and put a lot of additional load on the engine.

  10. Haha, the guy that was on that fast ass boat turned out to be one of the members off of cr here. He had/has??? pewter colored 03 cobra. It was fast but if I remember correctly he sold it or tried to. That boat is badass.

I couldn't figure out who was who out there. I still have the the 03 but I don't drive it very often. The water was perfect yesterday. I saw 86.7 on GPS and it felt like it had a little left.
