  1. Also, I checked the fuses and they're both fine. All the other electrical seems fine, horn functions, starter is reliable. My battery is a little on the old side though.
  2. Howdy folks, I've got this bizarre problem with my headlights function intermittently. Here's what I know: 1) when they work, both the low and high work, and when they don't, they both go out. 2) the teeny tiny third head light above the other two always functions. 3) if I flip the key to on, and the light doesn't come on, very gently touching the engine start button will make the lights come on, but sometimes they go back off a second or two later and I have to press it again. 4) the problem is only at startup. On e the lights are on and I'm riding they stay on. 5) it doesn't appear to matter how long the bike has been sitting. Sometimes they'll start right up like normal even if the bike has say for a week and then it sits for an hour and they won't work. 6) I'm not certain by it appears to be getting worse. Any ideas? I seem to be managing ok but one of these days I'm afraid of getting stuck somewhere at night with no headlight. And if I have some idea of what it might be -before- I go to the shop I'm less likely to get run over.
  3. Lol I rode past that about an hour ago! Yep it was a big ass mess.
  4. You're not fooling me! That's not paint. You just smeared playdoh all over the back.
  5. You could try a honda shadow. It's big enough not to get laughed at and still manageable. I learned on a honda rebel, which is about half the size of the shadow, and I outgrew it fast but I don't regret starting small. Everyone is going to have a different answer on here. If you have any friends who ride, take their bikes for a spin and see what feels right. Your tastes will probably change over time as you learn what kind of rider you are, so don't spend too much on your first bike.
  6. My roommate is terrible about having old food in the house, so I'm always careful to remark when things arrive. So when a six pack of raisins showed up on the counter the other day I assumed they were newly bought. Grabbed one on my way out this morning and I'm eating them at church when I happen to look down in my hand to see three raisins and a maggot
  7. I was on my way to a friend's house to bake a pie once and when some dickhead tried to run me off the road I pulled the rolling pin I had tucked in my jacket out and shook it at him. Dude was not expecting that. I've also taken my shoes off and thrown them at people. But these days I'm not quite as dumb and I mostly do the things people have said here. In extreme cases I'll just let go of the throttle until someone passes me even if it means pulling to the side of the road. If they want ahead, fine. It's not worth losing my life.

  9. I still don't know exactly what a haberdashery is but this place sold yarn and sewing things. Oh wait, here's google! "A haberdasher is a person who sells small articles for sewing, such as buttons, ribbons, zips, and other notions (in the United Kingdom[1]) or a men's outfitter (American English[2]). A haberdasher's shop or the items sold therein are called haberdashery."
  10. Yes indeed. It was balls awesome
  11. This article doesn't have anything to do with global warming and nowhere does it say they proved anything about the nature of the universe. Just exploring ideas...
  12. I'd be concerned about myself if I could fill out a man's pants
  13. Hi folks, I bid on a helmet in an auction and it came with these men's pants. They don't fit me even with the liner in and they appear to be new or in the very least barely used. They are LG size 34-36, come with a spiffy liner, knee and hip protection. These pants are currently in sale at cyclegear.com for $175, normally $200. http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Street/Pants/Textile/brand/TOUR-MASTER/Venture-Air-Textile-Motorcycle-Pants/p/28122_59409_21 They are missing a button, which, crap, I just noticed. Boooo. That's $120 discount for the button, basically.
  14. I'm going to a place called a "haberdashery" tomorrow. No idea what it is but I can't wait
  15. Sorry you guys had such a hard time keeping up with me. I'll take it easy next time ;-)
  16. I enjoyed this show. Some cute little bikes. Good doughnuts. Good conversations.
  17. Had a great time riding with you guys! Had fun and kept the rubber side down the whole time. Yay!
  18. I'm heading out from IP pretty soon. Should be at the gas station by noon
  19. My forecast just says foggy all day. Not exactly perfect riding weather but I'll take it. Getting out the door late; I'll probably get to IP around 10:30.
