  1. It is...the NM4 Vultus. Someone was watching too much Akira.
  2. The stupid high stock gearing on my Tuono would just be getting ready to shift into second at that speed. Sixth gear, please...never used that unless I was about a buck.
  3. Just adjust your preload and damping.
  4. That's what 90mph is for.
  5. Looks like a good setup. In the future instead of the stick, Lowes and Home Depot sell steel rods for a couple of bucks. I bought a 1/2" one that is three feet long and i use it to hold my bike up while doing rear end work. It is more than enough to do the job.
  6. That pic in the linked article is also a 'shopped ZX14 front on a Busa body. Look at the headlights.
  7. This will not be a $70K bike. It will be more I think. The DD wasn't really a street-legal GP bike. It had a lot of similarities but many things had to be changed to make it liveable on the road. Honda is basically taking their customer RCV, put lights on it and replace the seamless transmission with a cassette-type. Relatively speaking of MotoGP bikes, the Honda production RCV isn't even a true GP bike. Honda didn't find a creative solution with the new rules for 2014 and churned out this turd. Yamaha and Ducati were much smarter in this regard. And before I get flamed...yes I would not kick this bike out of bed even if it was eating crackers.
  8. I have noticed that with some Kawasaki's that the recommended tire pressure is based off of a rounded Bar-psi conversion. This usually leads to a lower than ideal pressure for that tire.
  9. Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi are not Ducati fans.
  10. I have had Iron Pony match Motorcycle-Superstore.com prices in-store a couple of times. I would much rather support a local business. Now if they would just let me test ride the new Tuono V4 they have in the store...
  11. My thoughts exactly. I just roll my eyes. I have been reading a book by Nick Ienatsch called "Sport Riding Techniques" in my free time. Really good and insightful. I've been using some of the suggestions and it is making a difference. No matter how bad-ass one thinks they are, it always helps returning to basics every once in awhile to make sure that the foundation is strong.
  12. Take a long screwdriver and place it at different points on the engine and put your ear up to it. This works well if you don't have a stethoscope. You'll be able to hear internal noise a lot clearer. Also, if you are really worried, save some of the oil and you can send it away to a lab for a SOAP analysis. They'll tell you exactly what is in the oil.
  13. I'm planning on doing the course this year with my father who owns a Burgman 400. He needs a little confidence booster and is ready for the extra challenge. I do have to say except for the acceleration lacking due to the CVT, that scooter can corner like a mo-fo. Glad to hear that the course was well worth it. Tried to get my two usual riding buddies to do it with me but they believe that their skills are beyond what the course can offer. They also each highsided their bikes last year.
  14. The Mission R is a beast. Awesome, awesome bike by either electric or ICE standards.
  15. Don't forget that most good boots have a steel shank so that can work well, too. I usually found the kickstand works well. Ferrous metals are the best since most of the detectors are based on inductance and the more conductive the metal is, the better. Higher end sportbikes these days are going to have more of a problem due to more aluminum and plastic.
  16. How is the FZ-09 so far? They look like a lot of fun.
  17. Doesn't matter one bit. The Bolt is still a better bike. The Bolt makes far more power and torque at the speeds that most riders are going to be using 99% of the time. The 750 only has it beat at the top end and that is only in HP. The 750 needs to lose a lot of weight to be able to do anything with that low of a torque figure which is surprising since HD's are usually stump-pullers.
  18. Have looked at the Aprilia RSV4? Great bike, dare say better and more reliable than the S1000RR and cheaper to maintain.
  19. You can borrow my bike if I can borrow your model.
  20. You know how Troy is lately...gotta have protection these days. You should come out and ride sometime.
  21. Awesome. I'll have to check that out. Monday is great because my posse is all off from work that night.
  22. Jackass Flats is starting to get a better variety but it attracts more of the "Weekend Bad-Ass" Harley rider. The Villa is more cruiser but I have had better experiences there with guys asking about my sportbikes and being genuinely interested and more down-to-earth. Less poseurs and the food is really good and cheap. Gotta love a bar where you can write on the walls and ceiling, there are burn-out marks on the floor and a stripper pole in the corner. Still looking for a decent spot that doesn't only cater to the riders of two-wheeled air compressors. But I guess most of us are actually out riding and not posing.
  23. Anyone go to Jackass Flats and/or The Villa down the road on Wednesday nights? I know the pork chops are awesome at The Villa.
  24. Does anyone know of what bike nights are on which days of the week in Dayton? I know of a couple on Wednesdays and Thursdays but didn't know what else was out there the other days of the week.
