  1. Loved the FJR really, but Katie only rode with me a few times last year and when the "opportunity" arose to choose again I went with something more suited to what I was doing more. I'll have to get out and ride it by myself a bunch more before this get together and get a better handle on it. It's a pretty different animal!
  2. Yeah bud, the CBR is street legal as of two days ago. I'm ready to rock and roll.
  3. Great, the mini race got canceled for that weekend. I'm in. Medium fast for me. Happy to sweep if needed. Thanks for getting this on my calendar early!
  4. Cool, I'm a 10.5 in most shoes, so these may be right with a thick pair of socks... I know I'm a 44 in TCX S-Speed. Don't care about Duc branding, maybe it'll inspire me to get that 900SS I've been lusting after. The 2014 RS2 is probably up my alley though, I'm sure these will see the pavement on the mini track! When you get a chance to get your pricing goals in mind let me know. I might get a chance to do some looking around and PM you an offer tonight anyway.
  5. Interested in details on the boots when you get a chance.
  6. Ok, new to Mid-Ohio track days... certificates are good because you limit your risk of rain and can make last minute plans? I'd like to make a couple days this year and want to make sure I'm not screwing myself up.
  7. Private guy I work with does it on the side. Super cool dude. His name is Heath at 580-595-1854. Shoot him a text this early, or wait until the sun comes up for a call. Good luck man!
  8. Believe me, it sucked listening to everybody cruise up 315 and High while I was screwing around with a multimeter in the garage. Tomorrow is supposed to be 48! Wanna ride?? haha
  9. yeah man, I'm really not that worried, just kind of a bummer. Actually just checked and I can still pick up a battery tonight. This winter darkness confuses me all the time.
  10. Well fuck. It cranked real slow before I bought it. Switched batteries with one from a new Super Tenere, started/ran fine. Put old battery back in to take home, assuming it was low. Charged it overnight. Cranks really slow, doesn't start. Swap batteries with the guy again for another spare one he had at the shop, same deal. Cranks really really slow, doesn't start. Try to start with it from a jump off another bike at home, cranks faster, but still no start. Attempted bump start in 2nd and 3rd, no go. Rectifier/stator shouldn't affect this. I'm looking at a brand new battery and plugs tomorrow. Don't know how to check the starter power yet, that's on the to research list. At least it's winter! haha The track plastics are off and I'll be looking to get the street stuff on this weekend if the damn thing will fire up.
  11. Happy Thanksgiving! Woohoo! (proof she didn't divorce me upon bringing it home)
  12. Never been to Wheelsports in Reynoldsburgh but I've taken some advanced moto classes with a family member of the business and Heather is really great. They really live the offroad stuff and I'm sure they'd treat you well.
  13. Yeah man, a track day or two to get things a little better sorted are first on my list.
  14. Well sweet guys, Katie is on board. As soon as insurance pays up...
  15. Thanks guys, I really didn't want a 1000 class bike, but this popped up... I'm not hoping to set lap records, mostly have some fun and learn a bunch. So the rectifier may fuzz out at some point, that's not too bad. Glad you haven't had any issues with yours Todd. You recognize this bike, Todd, it's kinda over the top in the paint department, huh?!
  16. I'm looking at getting a 2007 CBR1000RR to replace the FJR and don't know too much about their history. Things to look out for, problem areas, general concerns or thoughts? I know there were some changes in 2008 but that's about it. The bike I'm looking at is currently in track plastics but I'd get all the stock stuff too. 2000 miles, been on the track some (1000 miles?) of it's life at Mid-Ohio intermediate. Ohlins front and rear suspension, Ohlins steering dampener, quick shifter, full exhaust, slipper clutch, power commander, blah blah blah. I don't know how the steering dampener was installed, but I assume something had to happen to the stock HESD. That's the one thing that seems kinda sketchy, in the reading I've done on it there may be some electrical mods needed to keep things happy. I realize this may (oh yeah it is) be way too much bike for me but it could be fun to do some track days and learn how to ride.
  17. I was just about to update this, we got a new machine in last week and I'm behind. Mass amounts of experience is not needed right now if you show up and work hard. We need people.
  18. Yeah, I see that page, trying to find if it fits anything else.
  19. So my FJR is totaled and I'd rather not give insurance my Ohlins shock if I can use it on another bike. I haven't found that if will fit anything else though... Does anyone know where I can find a better fitment list or search terms? It's a YA 036 (fits a 2006 Yamaha FJR at least).
  20. Well they totaled the bike... I'm on the hunt!
  21. A bit of good news! I sent thank you notes to all the gear manufacturers I was wearing when I wrecked and I'll be getting a new FirstGear Kathmandu jacket in the mail shortly. Woohoo!
