  1. Love it so far, ~300 miles since Thursday evening. It does handle great. Looking forward to getting past this damn brake in period so I can let it do what it's designed for. Have to go see @Hoblick for the obligatory suspension setup soon. It's much harsher then the CBR, that's for sure.
  2. Here ya go, guys! The '34 Ford is the old guy's I work with. His daily is a '41 Ford truck. I rode out a buddy's in New Concord last night to go fishing. Caught a few, one big catfish around 11:30. Stayed over and took 83 N for a bit before the rain hit this morning. Rode up Mom and Dad's gravel driveway in Granville. She's nice and dirty now! haha!
  3. Borderline hippie?! I'll show you my old license sometime... I was the only lib in my machine shop for the last 4 years, new guy is libertarian, I'll take what I can get! haha
  4. CBR is still in the garage, couldn't pass up the deal I found on the Daytona. Pics coming tomorrow!
  5. Well, I rode my new (White!) Daytona R home tonight. Wee!
  6. Damn! That looked terrible! I'm glad you're going to be ok, sure it hurts like hell now though.
  7. Yeah, Mrs. Hawkins likes it better than the Duc we tried. Tim was kind enough to wait a bit for my slow ass to get up to the track for a spin. I liked it. Now going through a similar dilemma as you, do I deserve this bike? Haha
  8. Requirements for the BRC: Temps or motorcycle endorsement, long sturdy pants (no holes or yoga pants), full finger gloves (again, no holes), over the ankle sturdy footware, long sleeve shirt or jacket, a willingness to learn and have fun. Helmets are available to borrow everywhere I coach if you don't have one. Bring plenty of water and a snack, it gets hot on the range, especially with gear on. A Roadcrafter would be way overkill for this time of year, March or April maybe, but you'd likely bake now. I wear my Roadcrafter jacket when it rains or the cold. I do wear my AD1 pants at all times though because my legs don't get as hot. Welcome to OR, get some miles in before the end of the year and come back for the Epic Ride in the spring!
  9. I'm building in track bodywork and parts to my cost thought process... Ha! Katie liked the black one we looked at at Motohio. Going to see @TimTheAzn in a bit to take his for a couple laps around the paddock and grounds of mid ohio with Katie on the back. See if she falls off. If not, we're good to go.
  10. I am looking to buy this exact bike, but in white. I'm real curious about your thoughts as a street bike. Ever taken a passenger? I'll sell the cbr so I'll need to be able to track and street the Daytona if I get it. Suspension springs are too soft? That's something I was worried about, what do you weigh?
  11. I had a great day overall. It was nice to see some folks from the board. Something broke at the end of the second session but Yamaha was there for demos, so I rode an R6 the rest of the day. Behind a control rider, but still had fun. The track was really fun, looking forward to going back. If I can get the CBR back together by this weekend, I'll try to make Mid-Ohio next Monday. This track day stuff is pretty neat. How Far Past Redline Were You?
  12. I'm pitted by the line for tech. Buddy has an outlaw rv, porch out back. My red cbr and his red zx6.
  13. Ok, found the white Saturn with the open trailer. I'll say hey when the sun gets a little higher.
  14. I'll be the guy sleeping in his Hyundai wagon with an open trailer. Getting in around 10 Saturday night. I won't have nearly as much shit though. If I break something, I'm done for!
  15. @ludwb675 Same, see ya tomorrow! http://imgur.com/a/0ImhP
  16. Wow, what a great place! Enjoy!
  17. How late is the gate generally open on Saturday? I'll be getting in around 10 and don't want to get locked out and then have to search for a hotel...
  18. For what it's worth, the new Motorcycle Ohio Rider's Guide (for the class that is replacing the MSF courses in Ohio) specifically mentions earplugs as a piece of safety equipment and then encourages you to check the law. Even if you were ticketed for it, the $50 or so fine is worth being able to hear clearly in 30 years, IMHO.
  19. Ok, all other kids have leathers, not really sure of regulation on that, it's a new class this year... I've saw an adult race in real serious street gear one time, maybe there is some leniency. I would hope there would be a way to get them on the track with what they have. Are you on the OMRL facebook page? It's pretty active and I'm sure some of the Kid's 50 parents would be able to help more then my nearly useless guesses.
  20. Yes. Send me a drawing and we'll get her whipped out for ya.
  21. Sorry, for the 50s, they will run in the Kid's 50 class. Currently 4 or 5 show up every race. Don't know about tires, I'd assume stock rims. I know some folks have run XR80s in the Stock 100 class, don't know about the 70s. @turnone would know for sure. Do the kids have leathers?
  22. For the 100, get a 16" front wheel, BT45s are the standard tire, either 100 or 110 for front and rear.
  23. So how do you like the 1000? Shifting any less?
  24. Cool man, glad you got the 1000 you were after. Yep, first days on a big bike track. Can't imagine how I won't have fun but I'll be sure to let you know. Weeee!
