  2. Does Kevin have a frame jig? His website and facebook do not mention it and he is billed as "Light to medium" repair work which would not necessarily include a frame jig.
  3. Hey guys, So a coworker pulled out in front of me last week and the ol warhorse jeep took a shot right on the right frame rail. No body or cosmetic damage aside from the bumper but I need a reputable shop that can jig up the frame and straighten it. Who is good?
  4. The bike that this is based on is the GS450 twin, which has been helping riders learn to ride on two wheels in the street since the 1970's. They are good solid beginner bikes. That being said a bike should always be setup for the rider to be most comfortable on the bike and if they are a new rider to promote good habits. To that end, if a beginner were considering this bike I would personally recommend (from my own experience helping other new riders) that the clipons be removed and a superbike bend bar be fitted, larger mirrors installed, and the front fender re-installed - at least until the beginner rider has at least a season and a couple thousand miles underneath them. The good news is that all of those changes can be done for under $100 and two hours in the garage, and then if you want to go back later on you'll have all the parts. Hopefully if there was a beginner rider out there on the fence this will encourage them to pull the trigger and buy doc's bike, because if it is anything like Doc's other vehicles it is well cared for and in excellent shape.
  5. Mike has asked. No response yet.
  6. Super Thanks to Mike who handled being attacked by people with fist fills of sweaty $20s like a veteran pole worker at a topless bar. couldnt have asked for a nicer day and a bigger turnout.
  7. I'm just busting your balls because it is fun.
  8. http://www.pinnedohio.com/ Basically a vintage bike and old school chopper meetup. If you haven't been it is a good small bike show. Some nice vendors but not many. Lots of eye candy. I have pics from past shows I can post later to show you what it is about.
  9. If you want to see more of "Newt"'s work he published a book with Thom Taylor about how do draw Monsters: https://books.google.com/books?id=0TblC7LQ-MoC&pg=PA4&lpg=PA4&dq=Ed+Newton+%22NEwt%22&source=bl&ots=Bq5VrKMy0L&sig=6U43wTTWWxvlYpnVrKKnJhkakwY&hl=en&sa=X&ei=AhgxVcjMIde0yQTk5YGwCg&ved=0CGMQ6AEwDw#v=onepage&q=Ed%20Newton%20%22NEwt%22&f=false
  10. For those who don't know who "Newt" is, it is Ed Newton. Ed designed the "Roach Coach" show car for the original RoAcH studios back in 1979 as well as the Oribitron back in 1964 for Roth: https://books.google.com/books?id=tSLjOVHLde0C&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=Brian+Peterson+at+Roach+studios+Newt&source=bl&ots=NQW3HnQXDn&sig=Qn3ELJ40D-7LBYDY0coPDwQCdug&hl=en&sa=X&ei=CxcxVdqbApD4yQSSnYDoCA&ved=0CCQQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Brian%20Peterson%20at%20Roach%20studios%20Newt&f=false I don't know if any of you older timers remember CARtoons Magazine but I had a sub in the 1980s/90s and I remember his work from then (though I didn't know it was his work till this project and I looked up his art). What makes this more special is Newt was the original artist for all the Roth Weird-Oh Monsters so by pedigree this shirt is actually an extension of the original Ed Roth Monsters. How cool is that?!? By the way clay....I believe that bar conversation started by me saying "so I have this idea for a logo..." and then you and I debating for 15 minutes as to whether it should be a Starbucks cup or a coffee mug. To be fair though Wes and Mike did a ton of leg work on this and deserve all the credit. the fact that you are I were on the same page regarding rat fink means great minds do think alike. I assume Mike is going to be the one selling them? Wes is out of town and you aren't going to be there so....just making sure I know whom I have to stalk down to make sure I get one. I can't believe none of us thought of donuts for wheels....
  11. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/IMG_6717_zpsj9j5pmau.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/IMG_6718_zpsty868ovm.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/IMG_6722_zps9xuekzur.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/IMG_6723_zpshfdcp5g9.jpg It looks solid black but actually it is a metallic black. Inside is not so clean you could eat off it but I wouldn't call it rusty and unusable either. Could stand a good rinse.
  12. Came off my 1974 Ironhead. It's in decent shape and the paint still has a shine to it. I think it is 3.5 Gallons and mustang shape Sort of a Frisco mount. It's a bolt on for an IH but you could use it for a chopper too. Here is a pic, shot with a potato, of it mounted on my Ironhead when I first bought the bike. I'll post more detailed shots when I get home tonight. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/1284066787.jpg $60 and come pick it up east side of Cbus. I'm just tripping over it.
  13. bumping back to the top because it is this weekend.
  14. Really? They do a parking lot show here in ohio, hang on I have some pics of it from last year..... The Parma Heights Ohio "dust Off" is coming up if the car can make the trip: https://www.oldsmobileclub.org/15th-annual-oldsmobile-spring-dust-off/ the Mid-ohio All olds show and swap isn't until september: http://www.oldsmobileclub.org/29th-annual-all-oldsmobile-car-show-and-swap-meet/ Edit: pics from 2014 Andersons's parking lot show http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zpse5bdc1d6.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps0e7783fe.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps9436bd17.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps91e08cd8.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps3851d8cd.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zpsa9868a63.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zpsc8994f9c.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps55b0b22b.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zps7c68cfc0.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/Geeto67/null_zpsa4f4a444.jpg can you tell I like 442s? My buddy from high school has a 1969 442 with a swapped in 455 - I used to give him a pretty good run for the money with my 400ci GTO.
  15. Open to all but I want to make a correction: MotoGP "pregame" starts at 2:30 even though the race is at 3. Also last week had Moto2 and Moto3 before the GP but this week the TV schedule says they are at 7pm so it is probably best to show up for the big race.
  16. they are 6 year old tires on a motorcycle, if they have even the first sign of weather checking throw them away. Tires are not just neat looking black donuts to keep your rims from scraping the ground. Otherwise I think that is a really nice bike and a decent price to boot. Most of them are bought by beginners who drive them into the ground like a nail into a board, it's nice to see one well cared for.
  17. I would recommending contacting the Mid-Ohio olds club for a recomendation of club friendly shops: Mid-Ohio Chapter Elizabeth Shaudys 1184 Fairview Ave. Columbus, OH 43212 (614) 486-4081 eshaudys@columbus.rr.com http://www.oldsmobileclub.org/about/chapters/
  18. Thought I would post this here as there seem to be a few who follow MotoGP motorcycle racing. The Co-Oh Vinmoto Google group is having a MotoGP watching party for the season at Woodlands backyard for every Sunday there is a race on the schedule. Main race starts at 3:00pm on Sunday, Moto 3 and Moto 2 are the preceding hour so if you want to catch the Moto2 and MotoGP arrive at around 2:30. They will show it on the big projector TV which is just an awesome way to watch it. It's free to attend but you have to buy your own refreshments. It's a lot of fun to drink beer on a Sunday afternoon and be in a room with a bunch of people cheering for racing motorcycles. here is the season schedule: http://www.motogp.com/en/calendar From personal experience some guys like to hand around and watch indy car afterwards so there's that as well.
  19. http://jalopnik.com/darpa-hacks-gms-onstar-to-remote-control-a-chevrolet-i-1684593523
  20. So here is the thing about remote shut off....you need a system that can both send and receive direction from a remote source, which is a rare thing right now. Onstar can do it, and I think some Mercedes systems can as well but not every concierge service can do that. Also you need to have a vehicle in which the system is installed - not every Chevy sold has onstar or the potential for onstar. There are plenty of cases where police have contacted onstar and onstar has disabled the vehicle (just google it and within the first 5 hits you'll find both isolated cases and aggregate articles talking about this) but there are a couple of problems with this: 1) Onstar is a private sector company not a law enforcement entity and if they police do it to the wrong car there could be constitutional ramifications (like deprivation of use of property). 2) Each mfg has its own system and there is no central call number to call in to disable a car. Onstar has proven to be very accessible, but what about MB? 3) each system has it's own limitations and there is no industry standardization. Onstar can do almost anything except disable manual systems (i.e. is can't cut your brakes). It can turn off the car, accelerate the car, decelerate the car, and disable or enable the abs. If the car has an electronically controlled trans it may be able to shift it as well. But MB? what can that system do? What about Ford Sync? as far as I know Sync interfaces with Can Bus and can read health info and possibly kill the ignition but can't do nearly what onstar can do. 4) abuse of system. Already there is a tinfoil hat brigade that claims the gubment can take over your car and use it to kill you. They aren't wrong as covert operatives have had this tech since the 1960's and have used it in the past but usually it required the operative to install equipment that would physically override operator manual controls (e.g. for carb'ed cars they used to have an RC car style remote servo that an operator could use to work the throttle). Complete remote takeover may be possible now with the advent like systems onstar (DARPA proved they could do it with an impala without ever touching the vehicle) but then who watches the watchmen? 5) liability: If an onstar operative kills the ignition and the car stops suddenly and a pursuing police car rams the vehicle and multiple people are hurt - who is liable? Police? onstar operative? this is just off the top of my head, there may be more concerns.
  21. I see what you did there.....he he he Here is the thing that irks me - The track was obviously designed by someone who knew the basics of track design and safety and laid it out to run in only one direction. Judging from the comments I am seeing on this regarding people's personal experience it was run in the safe direction for a while and then someone decided to run one type of car in the safe direction and another type of car in the opposite direction. Clearly whomever made that decision was not familiar with safety or track design and may have been done (and this is just me speculating) to help increase the maintenance intervals of the surface. Disney is not a racing company, they are a theme park and they kind of fell down on the specialized safety concerns that go into managing any kind of racing surface. The only good news to come out of this is that work around the campfire is that the attraction is going to close for good and become a parking lot.
  22. wife said rolled over vehicle. Didn't realize it was a semi. Ouch.
  23. Anything fired from a moving police car is generally a bad idea. LoJack, onstar, assistant services that broadcast two and from the car are all better solutions. Onstar can shut the car off mid chase and you don't even have to be paying for the service. Now if it was a claw EMP that could disable the car and be fired at a lime green Mitsubishi Evo from a helicopter - that would be awesome.
