There is a guy that brings his kid in a delorean and Clay has a car seat in the front of his pickup so just put the car seat in the passenger side, disable the airbag if you need to and come on down.

+1, this is why they design courses to run certain directions. There are courses that can run both directions but they do not have barriers that point an open end toward or parallel to a road surface.

rolled over car, at least according to my wife who saw it on her way home.

They were running the wrong direction: http://jalopnik.com/driver-going-wrong-way-around-disney-world-speedway-bef-1697619507

You call it a Morris Mini Coupe Utility if it was made before 1978 and the Mini 95 pickup if it was made after 1978. Made those little trucklettes from 1961 to 1982 and while they are somewhat common in europe they are kinda rare here. I think they made 58,000 of them. A fine arts painter friend of my parents had one in East Hampton and used it to haul his canvases to shows around the east end of long island. It's the only other one I have seen in real life. I think I remember him telling me heaters were optional on these trucks.

I'm curious about how this happened. There is some speculation that they were running the course clockwise and in that direction there was an open guardrail end that could easily collect a car where as if they were running the course counterclockwise even if they hit the guardrail they wouldn't have hit the end. Real bummer.

Why not? I'm at cars and coffee almost every weekend. maybe you have met me and don't know it yet. It's not that I love to hear myself talk so much as I love to troll this place a little when the conversation in the thread turns into a lot of Hank Hill and the guys standing in the alley going "Yup"...."yup"...."yup"....(sorry for the dated "King of the Hill" reference, I have been watching the reruns at night lately).

yes you have these idiots in every sport, but for some reason I just see a lot more of them in boating. I also hear about a lot more of them in boating. It is one of the reasons I don't go boating anymore. Go to any lake and count the number of dudes with beers in one had and a throttle in the other. And before someone brings up "well you will see more drunk drivers" and more "wathc this" videos on youtube - well yeah that is because more people drive as a whole. Guess what, there are also more DWI checkpoints for cars then boats as well. Say what you want, I spent many a summer working beach towns i and from personal experience the irresponsible behavior douche-bag quotient was very high. I avoid the sport YMMV. and FWIW I am only talking power boats here. If you feel insulted by this, maybe you are one of the few safe boaters out there, but then your problem isn't really with me but the others that give such a negative impression of the sport. Or maybe you aren't, who knows. I didn't say what I said to be a neutral statement - but it is my personal experience and all that I can speak to.

Drive something old then. Even something as pedestrian as a 1960's mustang that used to be everywhere is a rare site in modern traffic: http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4874086655.html Do you want something that is actually rare? or do you want something that is rare and car guys will lose their shit over when they see it? I mean I can't remember the last time I saw a dodge K car but I am not exactly about to empty my balls in delight if one drove down my street. But I saw hundreds of 60's camaros and mustangs growing up and ya know what, If I saw one in today's everyday traffic I'd probably do immoral and semi-illegal (at least in the state of Ohio) things to myself in delight. Again the answer seems to be VW phaeton. Sleeper enough to be unnoticed by the non-car plebeians but car guys would still say "huh, a phaeton. There's something you don't see everyday".

I like to write and I type really fast. I am also old (ok not really) and have this neat thing called an attention span - might want to look into it because mine is awesome. TLDR: I rock because I have a lot to say. Also since I am feeling nice: everything at $10-15K is going to be boring, problem laden, or old. Except maybe a Vw Phaeton.

90% of that depreciation is not out of the way - Go look at A8s older than 04. $2500 get you the best example of German luxury from the 1990s-early 2000s. When it comes to the A8 drive train - yeah ok it may be rock solid (check those timing chains on the 4.2) but when it comes to electronics the thing is like the starship enterprise. My father's friend has bought a new A8 every 5 years and I can tell you at the end of each term maybe half of the cool electronic "features" actually worked. He bought extended warranties each time too. Despite the fact that I own an audi that is out of warranty I don't think I would own anything as complex as an Audi A8 out of warranty. As far as what's $10K that is fast and fun and 4 doors? Well CTS-V is out since you had one and so is the G8 GT because its almost the same car. Audi a8 is not fast in the slightest but might be fun. Maybe a BMW 545i or 550i? again not fast but kinda quick and you can't even touch an e39 M5 for your budget. If you could find an S4 that has had it's timing chain done (or if you are willing to do the engine out timing chain replacement) that actually might be fun and is cheap enough - the timing chain fear is what keeps people away. If you are not familar the S4 has the 4.2L v8 mounted in such a way that the chain is up against the firewall and the engine has to be dropped out of the car in order to replace the guides. Although this is an issue with all 4.2L, it is only on the S4 where the engine has to come out because of tight packaging. You could go buy a VW phaeton. Not fast in the slightest but it is the basis for the current bently and it also uses the BBK 4.2L v8.

150cc scooters that are $1800 new are nothing you want any part of.
-
What kind of scooters are we talking about here? If they are 1960's-80's vespa small frames, then get them at all costs. Cheap Chinese junk? leave them where they lie. What brand, model, and year?

That's an awful lot of different people's farts into the seat cushion in one weekend.

This is why I am convinced that owing a boat is like an invitation to the world's biggest douchebag party. No real licensing requirements and full of people who are so short sighted they can't see the end of their nose. Sure there are responsible boaters out there but for every one of them there is a guy like this, or a guy too intoxicated to operate one properly, or just the "watch this" youtube dumbass. Unfortunately the injury rate for boats does not punish the stupid in nearly the rate to cause change for stricter licensing and operator requirements. At least they have licenses now, back when I was a kid any yahoo could get in and drive (pilot?) a powerboat.

And he just increased the price to $20k - WTF? There has to be a good story there.

It's "heavy" as in Marty Mcfly "that's heavy, doc" kind of way. I think Chevy's intent was to make the car seem like a "serious contender" using pop culture slang to make it seem fun. Considering the car did not have the 454, or carpet, or sound deadening, or pesky comfort options it was probably quite light in weight when compared to an SS Chevelle. If you think about the time in the context of the Plymouth roadrunner or the GTO Judge it kind of makes sense. I'm not saying it's a good name either, but I get why they did it. The heavy chevy was part of a quartet of "budget" muscle cars GM was selling at the time. By 1971 the insurance companies had figured out that intermediate cars with big engines should be charged higher premiums and came down hard on cars like SS454 chevelles and GTOs. In response GM built some sporty stripe package cars on base models so that the cars looked like muscle cars but were really just cheapo base models and thus easier to insure. The heavy Chevy got stripes and the SS cowl induction hood, the Oldsmobile rallye 350 got body color bumpers, a 442 hood, a w-30 wing, and special wheels, the pontiac t-37 got stripes, a GTO hood, and rally wheels, and the buick GS 350 got all the same exterior trim as the GS455. It was a smart move by GM to stay relevant in the market place, and a practice they still do today, but unfortunately they weren't big sellers. Only about 6k Heavy Chevy's were sold in 1971. Interestingly enough pontiac and buick were the only two companies to actually see this coming and had been selling sporty versions of their down market cars since 1966 and 1967 respectively. Pontiac had the Sprint OHC six in 1966-1968 and then the lemans sport from 1969 on, buick started with the GS340 in 1967 and continued with the GS350 into the collonnade body style in the mid 70's.

Nothing here constitutes as legal advice. Your cousin is not my client, not is there any intention to create a client relationship. 82 in a 65 in Cbus, the plea deal they will likely offer him right off the bat is to bust the ticket down to under 10mph over the limit which will not show up as points on his license (it may still report to your insurance company as a speeding violation). So if he doesn't want to hire an atty that is the deal he will likely get if he just shows up with his proof of insurance card with him. This is from my own personal experience and not my professional experience. I don't know anything about Doug Riddell. But to be honest do you need to know much? I mean really all your cousin may need is a warm body to show up on his behalf to get what he wants so one atty is as good as another in this instance. It might cost him more than the violation and insurance increase would be, but if he needs a clean license for another reason or he just can't show it is preferable to just paying the fine. My suggestion is to call up whatever atty you are going to hire and interview him or her over the phone. Ask about how the case disposition will go - explain where your cousin needs to be and let the atty make the case for hiring him. DUI and traffic attys make their money off of volume so at the very least the practice will be predictable and he should be able to generally tell your cousin how it will go and how much it will cost.

Is it under the clear or not? Stock decals are usually under the clear. If you have a "denim" paint job (Harley's fancy word for semi-gloss) then there is still a clear coat it is just not a gloss clear coat. Test by seeing if your fingernail catches the decal edge. If it is under the clear then just leave it alone, you'll screw up the paint trying to remove it. If it is not under the clear, I usually remove decals by softening them with either window cleaner or goo gone and then use a plastic card to try to peel it up.

I say go for it. I plan on dyno-ing my Sport 1000 ducati and disappointing everyone but me. :gabe:

Can you recommend an automotive AC specialty shop?
Geeto67 replied to williaty's topic in Passing Lane
maybe everything is working properly and there is a slow leak in the system. did you test to see if there is pressure in the AC system? if there isn't any pressure then nothing is going to work. -
except he spelled it Heddars and not Hedders. Plus it was a pretty cool piece about Hedman and it seemed like a shame not to post it.
-
It is a branding thing, so Hedmen Hedders is a brand name, not the name of the item. http://www.dragzine.com/history/a-look-into-the-history-of-hedman-hedders/

Well the studio has the series scheduled out to number 10 so....

Yeah Chevelle prices are a little out of control lately. "Heavy Chevy" chevelles were just an appearance package on base model stripper chevelles. No carpeting, no frills, just a dressed up cheap car. People think they are some high performance package but you could have had one with anything from an inline six to the 402ci big block (formerly the 396ci) but not the 454 as that was exclusive to the SS models and wagons only. I don't think heavy chevies got any of the SS suspension equipment either. It's literaly just a stripe package. But that is not the interesting part, the crybabies thing is way more bizarre than just an overpriced likely small block chebbie.
