  1. I'll agree costs are going up. I'm just saying if you wanted to go 9's starting with a brand NEW vehicle, you'll have less money in the Stang than a Z06...
  2. Other than the rulebook, that sates the five point safety harness must be mounted to a roll cage which is required above 135mph+....
  3. You are correct but not necessarily dollar for dollar. Why else do people buy Mustangs, they are typically cheaper in all those categories...
  4. Sure they do.....only problem is passing tech which is a little more difficult. Once you do that, probably only a small % will even break 150+ and an even smaller amount over 170+...
  5. Yes,.....drag, roadcourse, auto-x, which? There are many types of track days....and if he means road course then I hope he's paying cash. Nothing worse then stuffing a car into the wall and the track insurance not covering it...
  6. The shake down passes typically go 125, 150, 175, etc... each stage gets you the next pass and you can continue to the next license. Then it's Class A -200-249, Class AA- 250-299mph, etc... :lolguy: ....at people that think they will have no trouble running 135mph+...
  7. (former) Air Force 10-years 1C1X1 Air Traffic Control I could go on forever talking about it. Would do it over again in a heartbeat. Would change a few things but not much. My biggest recommendation to anyone joining - "PICK A JOB THAT WILL GET YOU HIRED WHEN YOU GET OUT!" I've seen to many people get into jobs, not careers that get them no where when they get out. Get something you can use, apply, and run with when you have to go to plan B, F, X, whatever....think, plan and look long term but always have multiple backups. The only thing that is certain is change (besides the hurry up and wait).. Whatever, you do SIGN UP FOR THE GI BILL!! Even if you don't use it, your spouse, kids, family, etc. may be able to use it down the road. Or if you decide in 5 or 10 years to go back to school and get a Masters, whatever. It costs little and the payback is unbeatable... After basic, call USAA and get setup with a checking/savings account they are probably the best bank/insurance/etc. company available IMO.
  8. Go do some research... I don't think its bad in person, my coworker has that combo... Yes,....not really a cost factor since he's looking at used Z's to a new BOSS. But a Griggs setup Mustang will flat move around corners.... If he was more concerned about cost, I would say a used 5.0 with Griggs suspension but he's not primarily tracking it so the Z06 would be the better buy. If he needs more seats for family fun and use, the BOSS may be what he wants. If he's single/gf only then the Z06 may be what he wants if he's just cruising, DD or the once in a while 1/4-mile run. Still don't know what the main use of the car will be...
  9. Two completely different cars......get what YOU want! Then again, a few $$$$ at Griggs and a Boss/GT/whatever Mustang will EAT a Z06 on the track unless you are talking more 1/4-mile.
  10. Congrats! I always liked the looks of them when they came out.
  11. Less than 6-months... I believe worse case they estimate 6-10 weeks depending on parts and wait time...
  12. I figured they would be nazi's about the speed then again, with what happened at Maxton I can understand some of it. So are you going to buy/build anything to race again? I won't make the June race but hope to see you guys in Sept. It would be nice if there was a CR gathering/pit area for everyone to hang out and watch, BS, etc..
  13. So it wins one category, what's the rest of the testing look like?
  14. From what I've seen, most full builds drive-in-drive-out under 1-month...
  15. Not true, only the Performance Package version with 3:31 gears will go 200mph, the base model will not...
  16. I like them but the weight and price is STUPID!
  17. Doc, So how fast did you end up going? What did you think of the event and are you building something to run again?
  18. These cars will NOT be rare in any way. Ford will build as many as the market demands so anyone paying any form of markup is just silly. Look at all the idiots that paid $10-20k+ markups on the 2007 model. Where are they now and what are they worth...
  19. I had planned to but bike won't be done in time...
  20. How about some facts about the SV.... What are you removing/replacing to drop weight to those numbers? Will the car make 1,600whp+? What tires are you running and what tuning software and/or traction control system are you using to hook it?
  21. I changed it because that's what you said in the video posted when you were interviewed "1,600hp making around 1,300whp." That's why I asked, how much power will the car make? How are you getting the car down to 3,300lbs with the added weight of the turbo kit? What other parts are you removing or replacing with lighter options? The fact that you keep saying AWD is meaningless at that power level is... :lolguy: You do realize that most cars making 1,300whp+ won't hook from less than a 90+ roll? Are you really going to be doing 100mph+ roll races just to have a chance? You are also aware that UGR has made more than 1,600whp+ (Holt made 1,900whp) with the Gallardo's even in RWD configuration? Only problem is none of that is relevant in a roll race scenario on the "street" where there is zero VHT or track prep...
  22. So is the car going to make 1,670whp+ or not? So let me understand his thinking... SV-1,300whp-RWD-3,500lbs. (.38 Cd with aero package .33 without) -VS- SL-1,600whp-AWD-3,300lbs. (.36 Cd)
  23. D.Wiggs, What is the fastest car you have owned/driven?
