  1. The transmission issue has been solved for a while, just don't buy the first model year. The Z06's can be bought in the $30k's depending on year and miles but you'd want one in the $40k's. The GT-R's are a bit more but worth it IMO. Go drive them both and decide for yourself. You are talking basic mods on both and they are in the 9's. Then again, Nissan offers a program to upgrade the GT-R to 2012 specs, so that's an option since you aren't buying new.... Either would be great but in TX you see Z06's everywhere so the GT-R is more rare but they are becoming more popular, not sure about OH...
  2. No offense but a new GT2RS is in a completely different league than an older GT3...
  3. Wait, she's broadcasting herself on the worldwide web for EVERYONE to see but she's worried about two dudes checking her out through the window...
  4. The Texas Mile is separate than TX2K11.... ...but I still don't understand why people keep running shitty tires for speeds 200+...
  5. Really.... http://files.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/normal.jpg?pool=multimedia&type=galleryimage&id=9pa-e2-tu-gallery-exterior-07&lang=none&filetype=normal&version=1 I think they look pretty damn good. Like any vehicle, the BASE MODEL always looks a little shitty...
  6. Same vid with other info here: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90541
  7. Yep, my wife's coworker just bought a new white Turbo and the new ones are bad ass (though not a manual)...
  8. Have some of you not been reading up about the new BOSS? Those cars are making great power and without the RED key yet. They should go even quicker stock, the regular is going fast with just basic mods... http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90541
  9. Two different kits/cars/companies.....liners is UGR the other is Heffner!
  10. Looks ok to me but I'd NEVER buy one...
  11. Linn, are you in the market? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-Lamborghini-LP560-Underground-Racing-Twin-Turbo-/330545872901?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cf611c005 http://www.elitemotorsports.com/webtemplate.aspx?IID=3030859
  12. Tire/wheel failed from what they've said...
  13. When did you go to Maxton? They have more rules and are a lot harder on the rules. Did you race your bike or something else?
  14. Only problem is there are very few tires rated for those speeds. To much liability from the manufactures just for tires. I know bikes they only have a speed rating up to 186mph and Bill has gone 278mph on them... Have you been to Bonneville recently? You can't do anything like that now. They have rules for rules for rules and it's VERY VERY strict...not to mention you have to qualify and run target speeds to go faster. You can't just go out first pass and run WFO like at Texas...
  15. They have met with and talked to many racing organizations to come up with the rules they have in place. They know what they are doing and have waivers for anything outside those rules.... Anything beyond that and where do you stop? Many production cars are in the 170's now days, what speed do you then require a full 6-point cage and race car status? It started as a safe event for people to race there "street" cars. Now you would essentially make everything a "race" car which is against everything it was started for. They have an UNLIMITED class for a reason which requires all those things.... Only problem, where does it end? You can have all the rules, regs, precautions in the world and people can/do still get hurt killed. There is RISK in EVERYTHING... Link?
  16. What other options did you have? Figured you would have gone C17 (if it were avail). C5 is still a good gig if you plan to get out and fly civilian later. Are you still on for a 10-year total flight hook with the AF these days?
  17. It is not there responsibility. If you are dumb enough to go out and race without a cage then you suffer the consequences. They have very strict rules and sometimes more isn't always better/safer... http://www.texasmile.net/pdf/TexasMile-SafetyRequirementsAutomobiles2011.pdf Same at a private 1/4-mile rental. There are plenty of cars going faster than 11.49 without a cage or even 13.49 verts... The main issue I've seen from mishaps is people and TIRES! People are using street tires or everyday tires to race. The speeds heat/expansion/etc.. are BIG issues for 1-mile high speeds. Just about every, if not every Corvette incident at Texas has been a result of tire FAILURE!
  18. Yep! He couldn't hook it up since there is no track prep at the MILE...however, he did just break the truck record running 196mph! It's going on this weekend.....there have been some decent speeds from what I've heard... (I couldn't make it this year, have to work) They are around, just got to be careful and smart......
  19. A few more months for us....looking forward to the title, the $2k payments pay off!
