  1. It's pretty normal to have heated stuff. My father rides year round and has all that stuff. He's got a K1200RS with heated grips, seat, and then has a heated suit that plugs right into the bike. You can get an adaptor to run them on pretty much any bike, you just have to find a power source to tap into...
  2. It looked like it took of pretty normal to me.... How exactly did it NOT take off normally...?
  3. Who actually thought the plane wouldn't take off, really...? Thrust from the engine and air over the wings (which creates the lift required to take off) has NOTHING to do with the treadmill. Here we go again.... http://www.deepstageperformance.com/pics/helicopter-turntable.jpg
  4. You may like the Charger then. I was under the impression you were looking for NEW. In that case, I would also look at a TrailBlazer SS also if you don't mind American cars.
  5. Really.... Even with the fuel save mode they both can get in the 20's on the hwy but that isn't going to be the norm especially if he does a lot of city driving. Like you said the people you know do MOSTLY hwy driving. Everyone I've experienced with them are getting 15ish in the city. Hemi is rated at 15/23 and the SRT is 14/20 and it's only going to be worse if he gets the AWD model. If he's got a heavy foot he can count on worse. Like I said, not great for a bigger car but then again it's a V8 so it's something to think about as a DD. You don't have to run premium in either if you want to get technical.... Parts are still expensive for what the car is. Compared to a WRX or Mustang or whatever he may have experience with, it's a more expensive car to mod. Not to mention if he does keep it for a while and wants to go quicker than 13's it gets VERY expensive to go low-12's or even 11's. Like I said if he is use to a WRX or anything similar the car will feel like a tank. Yes, it's a bigger car but if he hasn't driven one yet he may be in for a shock if he hasn't really looked at them. IMO there are MUCH better cars out there for $30k but whatever floats your boat....
  6. If it's primary purpose is going to be a DD, I would look at something else. They are a second slower than the SRT8 and get just as bad of gas mileage. Not to mention going from a WRX, you will feel like you are driving a tank. I would look at a Legacy, Acura TL, or something along those lines. Not to mention resale is HORRIBLE on those cars unless it's a SRT8. Have you looked into mods for them yet? Last time I checked NOTHING is cheap to mod on a MOPAR unless you get a SRT4. Like you said, you are saving for a Z06 so modding the DD really isn't necessary especially if the wife is driving it...
  7. Don't even waste your time with a R/T. Get the SRT8 model or look at something else...
  8. If you change your mind I know of a local Z06 with a F1R that would probably let you check it out. I don't think it's to loud at all. With exhaust and a fuel system that can support it, you really don't hear it that much anyway...
  9. See everyone is different. I LOVE the 08+ compared to the GenI bikes I had. I think the tail looks great once you toss the heavy exhaust and un-bolt the factory installed shovel from the back... Was the 14 at Muncie Pat Dietrich...? That may explain the timesm it's all rider (driver) like anything else.... Don't get me wrong the 14 is a great bike and fast. I just never have been a Kawi fan and since the frame design drives me nuts and they are a PITA to Turbo, I prefer the BUSA all day long... :burn:
  10. Please show me a BUSA that has a broken frame like the Kawi. Anything can happen in a wreck or from a drop. However, the 14 is the only one I know of that has done it just from riding NORMAL... I think the new BUSA looks great however everyones opinion is different. BUT...yank the heavy ass exhaust and it's lighter than the old bike. It's because of all the EURO 3 emissions CRAP. It's the same reason the updated 08 14 makes LESS power than the 06/07 14 stock....
  11. If you want to get technical it's a called a ZZR-1400 everywhere in the world besides the US. It's only known as a ZX14 here....
  12. She's a walking reality show...
  13. They need to do this with true car guys. Though I would love to see Tim Allen or Leno host it, they need to get someone that isn't brand specific and can say what they want and NOT what the the manufactors want people to hear. They def need three guys of different backgrounds like the current TOP GEAR. One knows nothing about cars(or driving), one knows a little and is probably average, and one is a know it all with British opinions....

  15. I just picked up a mag with more info on this. R&T reports a Eaton TVR2300 4-lobe running 10.5lbs of boost run by an 11-rib V-belt. The engine uses the same bore/stroke as the LS3 (103.25/92.0) running 9.9:1 compression with a 4-layer head gasket. The cam has reduced lift from the Z06's 15.0mm to 14.1. As far as blower efficiency it says 2.3:1 pulley ratio at 6,600rpm spins at 15,300rpm. The '09 Z06 will get the oil sump upgrades that the ZR1 has. First gear is taller (2.29-vs-2.66) and 6th shorter (0.67-vs-0.50). It also receives a twin plate 260mm clutch vs the single plate 290mm Z06. They also said GM will make 2,000 a year for around $100k (later saying $90k-120k est.) I don't know how correct it all is or if they will make changes before production but this is what the mag is reporting...
  16. I have read on several sites that GM will make 1,000 a year. Not a lot but not really what I consider a low-production number for this kind of car.
  17. Lots of cars missing from that list.... When has the S7-TT ever been tested to 248mph...? I don't think it has...
  18. In a straight line probably but I wouldn't say that just yet around a road course. The new ACR is reported to pull (I believe) 1.5g's which they claim is more grip than any other street legal mass produced car....
  19. I can't believe some of these responses.... A Viper with the right cam and exhaust is pure SEX! :grin2:

  22. Chevrolet... http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2122964825_d23b0474ac_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2123738646_5ef7f1c4d6_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2123738448_d78bdcc776_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2123738854_be57d5b2f5_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2122965735_1667995491_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2122966045_e5abbf7326_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2122966205_ed857f8f3c_o.jpg http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2122966401_7798145eb7_o.jpg
  23. I LOVE it.... http://jalopnik.com/cars/assets/resources/2007/12/2009%20Corvette%20ZR1%20Official.jpg This is it. The speculation, rumors and half-truths can now be set aside -- this is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, officially revealed for all the world to see. Powered by a supercharged LS9 6.2L small-block engine, the ZR1 hasn't even received an official horsepower number from the engineers toiling away at the General. All Harlan Charles, project manager for the Corvette team was able to tell us last week was the new high-powered 'Vette engine is "capable of producing at least 100 horsepower per liter. That's at least 620 horsepower, and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque." Chevrolet wasn't even able to give us a time on the 0-60. Charles was only willing to say "it's in the low three seconds." The small-block engine under the hood is only able to hit those massive numbers due to the addition of the positive-displacement Roots-type supercharger with a new, four-lobe rotor design plus an integrated charge cooling system that reduces inlet air temperature for increased performance. That's the "go" end, but the "whoa" end is just as impressive. The ZR1 gets some simply huge carbon-ceramic, drilled disc brake rotors. They're so big and are required to be so powerful they're using the same 15-inch-diameter discs found on the front of a Ferrari 599. Except on the ZR1, they go on the 20" tires in the rear. In the front, they'll be getting even larger 15.5-inch-diameter rotors. Yup, they're simply breathtaking to see up-close. For the time being everyone else will have to check out the gallery below or the full press release after the jump. In case anyone's wondering -- the magazine and website all about the Trend in Motors are the sleazy bunch of d-bags who broke the embargo seven hours early. We just followed suit. We'll have more time to talk about that later -- now go and read the press release and look at the pretty pictures. http://jalopnik.com/cars/detroit-auto-show/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1-revealed-officially-334923.php http://jalopnik.com/assets/images/gallery/12/2007/12/medium_2123739004_8531e38bca_o.jpg
  24. I've seen them before and they are cool looking BUT..... .....you may as well wear nothing, that's how much protection they offer...
