If I remember correctly the racing sanctions that break up the classes make a jump at 1350cc. If they went with a bigger bore it would have been a 1352cc like the 14 so they just went with a tad longer stroke. This kept it in the lower class at 1340 BUT again this isn't official. We'll know for sure tonight...

As long as EVERYTHING on it is 100% functional and designed for maximum performance, I don't care what it looks like. I want what works. People said the SR-71 Blackbird was ugly but I think it's one of the best looking aircraft EVER made...

Most of the die hards are buying one to mod and one to put away (all stock) for safe keeping. If you have money to burn, who cares....!?!?!?

It's just the regular GT motor with the FRPP drag pack on it. BUT....you can't rent it locally. You have to fly into an airport and pick it up as a special with proof of a plane ticket. They are nazi's about getting one so people don't take them to the track like back in the 50's/60's and rape the shit out of them...

That's Joe down in Tampa. It's got a TT kit on it now by Stage-5. Heffner makes a better kit though if you want to get serious with a FORD GT...

The only problems they had and MOST didn't even have it were the recall on the upper/lower control arms. Some had casting imperfections and they didn't want them to fracture so they recalled ALL of them. This was sent out Jan 05 so only the early run cars even got the problem (Dec-04 to Jan-05 built dates). Other than that they have had no other issues but little things that happen on every car from poor owner care. Jason, I understand what you are saying and a FORD GT would be a great build and not something you see everyday. If the GT doesn't work out, I would still recommend you looking at and driving a 997-TT or 997GT2 (when it comes out). It's a amazing car that you will probably love. Not to mention the engine is over the rear so you will have little traction issues. Plus if you go with the TT, it's AWD so you will walk away from most doing dig or roll races at lower speeds. They all weight pretty much the same but the GT/TT have better traction available when talking higher HP....

Jason, Have you looked at the 997-TT...? If you want something fun, rides great/comfy and can be driven daily I would check one out. Not to mention AWD so traction will be less of an issue... They are out there but you have to hunt if you want a certain color combo. I'd get one over either Viper/Z06 but personally, I would probably hold off and see what the 08 Viper does with the updated engine unless you can find a deal on one. They are sweet cars! The only complaint I have really heard about is the doors but that's minor... Short block is the same other than the Cobra Vin #, the only other way to tell is the GT forged on the heads if everything else is bare. If it says GTP than they are the newer GT40P heads which are better but NOT OEM Cobra heads. WideOpenThrottle, Are you buying the entire car and confirming parts are original or just buying the engine...? Let us know if we can be anymore help. I would check EVERYTHING if the guy is questionable...
