  1. You're right, I didn't. So much bullshit gets put into print I don't bother half the time. I'm wrong maybe, but as you said it may be interesting.
  2. I've caught CNN (and other news agencies) making false or half false reports before, so I don't trust any of them. All of them push their particular agenda to some degree. Stay tuned...we'll see.
  3. This is Bandit. He rests eternally on the back of my property. Not completely sure just what breeds were involved. But a hell of a dog. I originally started typing what a sort of batshit crazy but good dog he was, but take my word for it he was grand. I'm not as fond of our other dogs as I was him. The day came he could barely get around and couldn't keep from wetting where he layed. I put him down and he rests eternally in my back yard. Damnit...
  4. That price is ridiculous for that.
  5. News Flash! I woke up this a.m.! So far, so good....
  6. All of you and myself are dead. It just hasn't happened yet. And as previously stated, there isn't shit you can do about it. Disease, barfight, vehicle accident, drugs, falling in a sinkhole...who gives a fuck? I smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, ride motorcycles, and do half a dozen things I shouldn't, and I'll keep doing them. Healthy is a fucking joke. Who the hell wants to be 98 years old and laying in bed dying of nothing? Let's see if I'm here tomorrow. And as far as treatment of any sort for vets, the U.S. Congress needs taken out and shot. Unless any of you run the show the best you can do is treat the vet like a human being, not like a contagious basket case to keep at arm's length.
  7. I've seen that...cold weather...car won't start so intake/carb gets thoroughly drenched in starter fluid. STILL won't start. Fluid gets through, collects in the cylinder and drains down into the crankcase. Oil breaks down into that blob. Draining takes at least half a day!
  8. Never have handled a SV650, so I'll not comment on it. Go rent a M & P in .45 (or 9 if .45's not available) and burn a few mags through it. Then do the same with a Sig P series or maybe a Berretta or H & K. Pay attention to trigger feel, travel and reset. Bet you'll look a little different at that M & P.
  9. Ouch! Before you rebuild(if you choose to)find out why those bearings look like that. Is oil flow obstructed, or a bad oil pump? I'm curious what all the bearings look like. Last thing you'd want to do is put all that time and $$$ into installing a good used crank & bearings, only to have it seize up again.
  10. Congratulations to the Czechs then for someone in their government wanting to give them a fighting chance. I hope anyone who arms themselves also choose to go through training. Things like safety, marksmanship and tactics. Doesn't do any good to be armed and not know what to do with it.
  11. I run an oil in all my vehicles and equipment that meets API standards. Not what some might depend on or endorse. But as much as brand/grade of oil I also place great importance on changing oil regularly and using the best filter.
  12. Now I'm wondering if some of the carbon crap might have flaked off and lodged between the piston and cylinder wall. Or possibly worked it's way between the inside ring groove and inner face of the piston ring. Just guessing here. Diagnosing mechanical problems over the internet is like sticking your hand into a burlap bag and guessing what kind of snake is in it.
  13. Unless you cleaned them the one looks really carboned up. Will any of them "rock" in the bores?
  14. Curious. Since you've got the head off, what do the cylinder walls look like? Post a pic if you can get a decent one. Especially of the sides where the front and rear piston face and wrist pins would be.
  15. Sounds like the whole family was lost. I cannot imagine the grief of any relatives left behind. R.I.P.
  16. How long you've had it and if you really really LOVE the gun comes into play also I would think.
  17. I took the magnets out of a couple of computers that work tossed. Got one zip-tied to the bottom of each of my bikes' frame. Don't think the trick works at every light, but I've noticed I spend considerably less time baking my balls at red lights.
  18. No details I've heard yet, but there's a light I've been doing this at anyway. If I'm lucky there's a car in front of me. The really interesting things will be the cop's interpretation of the law, and how many new riders get themselves creamed. The latter will bring up questions in court as to who's responsible, and maybe force local governments to set a time requirement. Your government; in trying to make you safe will generate more $$$ for the legal system.
  19. They're doing fine...wait 'til Grandpa shows up with a Sportster basket case...
  20. In the past I've flooded the cylinder through the spark plug hole to where I can rough measure where the top of the piston is relative to the surface of the oil. Piston completely covered; I measure the next day to see if it's gone down any. If it hasn't, I know it's stuck good. If it's gone down, or if I can see the top of the piston I know it's hammer time. Also, this is why I recommend ATF. It has strong detergent additives. It'll eat through grime, carbon, and other boogers that cause issues. Penetrating oil; not so much. Good luck Shawn.
  21. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't try any of that except the diesel on an assembled enging.
  22. You know why the English drink warm beer? Lucas also make refrigerators...
  23. Those marine shops are probably your best bet to repair those panels. Marine hulls do take a beating, so I would imagine they're not turning out any shoddy work. Just to gage whether they know what they're doing. ask them about the repair process. If it doesn't include stop-drilling the cracks I'd have serious questions as to if they do quality work or not.
