Facts. I have spent my entire life dealing with migraines that would knock me on my ass for 2-3 days at a time. Zero medicines tried over 10 years worked but guess what does? Tinctures and edibles have literally changed my life 100% for the better.

Personally, I don't partake, but do think it's way past the time when weed and its derivative products are no longer vilified. The fact is that it works for many, and this just can't (and shouldn't) be ignored.

At this point I think the credibility of weaselzippersis on par with CNN.  Not a compliment for either.

I used to like CNN back in the 80s and 90s, but they have become sensationalist and gossipy over the years. This may have happened because of their tenuous financial situation. Also, the ads are not only excessive, they are purposely placed so that one cannot read stories before dealing with them. The CDC and NPR do a marvelous job providing credible, honest research and updates.

Just pointing out the wealth of dis-information on the subject

There is certainly plenty of that around! I have found Mike DeWine's daily press conferences to be a calming and reliable source of the status of the disease. Neither he nor Dr. Acton sugar-coat anything. They are honest about it when they don't know the answer to something, and promptly follow up so that the question(s) can be answered on a timely basis. I have been ignoring the rest of the media's coverage of this scourge--too much hype and sensationalism. Everything is for sale in America--including the truth.

    This didn't help either: https://www.weaselzippers.us/445796-taiwan-says-it-warned-who-about-coronavirus-in-december-but-its-warnings-were-ignored

Good information is very helpful bad info is not.

No wonder people didn't take this seriously until it was a little late.

The powers that be told us all was well, no need to panic, so we didn't .

    Now... Everybody PANIC!!!

<sarcasm>New at 11pm! Gunfight at Walmart! SWAT team called in to protect the toilet paper! Film at 11!!!!! </sarcasm>

Be careful about vetting sources of information. This article was, at best, skeletal, and "Weaselzippers" doesn't appear to be a credible site.

So...old guy here in the high-risk age group just vegging at home adhering to the social distancing guidelines when the ancient, dusty memory of a kids jingle we used to sing on the school bus to torture the poor driver popped into my head as a didactic metaphor describing the situation we find ourselves in.  If you're as old as me, you'll remember it:

"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.  I don't know why she swallowed a fly.  Perhaps she'll die.

"There was an old lady who swallowed a spider that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside 'er.  She swallowed the spider to catch the fly, but I don't know why she swallowed the fly.  Perhaps she'll die.

"There was an old lady who swallowed a bird.  She swallowed the bird to catch the spider...."   on ad nauseum, ad infinitum, until she actually dies.  Great little kid's ditty!

So, we find ourselves in a world-wide pandemic that began as an isolated case of a novel virus from a relatively small city in rural China and rapidly progressed to country-wide lockdowns in Italy, Spain, Ireland, France, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, El Salvadore, and likely soon to include the US with increasingly draconian measures that threaten not just the world's economy but the social fabric of the human race....

...ALL BECAUSE SOME DAMN CHINAMAN ATE A BAT!

To quote the infamous line from The Big Lebowski "This is what happens, Larry...."

Aren't you the guy who recently retired from building UFOs at NASA?

That's the plan if and when we get any or that money Trump says is coming. If not oh well.

I read this morning that the number they're batting around now is a one-time payment of $1,200 per person. Wife and I don't need the money, so we will likely just cash out and keep it as cash on-hand for now.

Parenthetically, I think Mike DeWine has been doing a marvelous job managing the many moving parts involved in this crisis. He is humble and personable, and has shown a warm sense of humor amid all the concerns COVID has caused.

  7. Durk and I will likely be working from home the rest of this school year, if I read Mike DeWine correctly. It's not difficult, but ensuring the students are actually doing course work while at home is.

My wife, an IT manager, has been on the same job for twenty years, yet her bosses (two brothers who own the company) will not trust her to work remotely. However, they told all the employees that if they don't feel well, they don't have to come in to the office. How generous.

The overarching theme of my riding philosophy is NOT to interact with my surroundings. I think they call that crashing..

Sam, I actually laughed out loud when I read this part of your post. Perhaps "interact" was a poor word choice on my part. What I meant to have said was "enjoy my surroundings." I would have liked having you in my classroom; a sense of humor makes the day go by quickly.

Anyone else doing it? We just stashed 200 bucks worth of nonperishable food for the pending flu outbreak. Will be adding more. Nothing crazy, stuff we would use anyway. Figure 2 to 4 weeks of isolation might be prudent. I can easily WFH so that is not an issue.

Well, wife and I will be doing this if it becomes necessary.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

At age 64, it has been my personal experience that as one ages, one becomes more risk-averse; about almost any human activity. Though I'm still waiting for my restomodded 1971 Honda (four years and counting, yet the project is still incomplete--another story), I imagine I will be more into the interaction with my surroundings and wind therapy than focused on challenging myself during rides. I'm no whimp, but my values have changed.

Would love to hear from other *seasoned* citizen riders about this . . .

Are you talking about COVID-19, AKA coronavirus?

We always have a larder full of stuff year-round, plus lots of frozen foods. Since viruses like cold, dry weather, I really don't think we have much to worry about this time of year. It's not likely to spread across the US in a month, and by April we will be into the warmer, more humid weather. Working from home is a great option; wish I could do that.

Do you have any donuts on board?

It's Tonik you're talking about, AKA Dr. Kalorie. Of course he has donuts . . . and four pounds of fries with gravy . . .
