  1. Clicked on edit...to fix mistakes....switched me to a screen that says, "I'm not allowed to do that". Y'all can figure it out anyway right?
  2. Used my unofficial detour very early this AM.....coming from Danville and going east towards Greater Killbuck Metro Area. Traveled USR62, past the road closed signs, past the road closed 1000 ft.....past the road closed 500 ft....as you see the actual road closed barricades, do the pro-rally turn....grab hand brake and turn left...a dropping hairpin turn.....you can't actually see the road that goes down from 62. Remember that in the wee early morning darkness.... : ) This is Twp Rd. 5....dirt, gravel and chunky rocks....narrow too. Travel to stop sign and that is Richland Twp road 13 (not 7 as previously mentioned...gimme a break, I haven't been back in there for an eon or two.) at the stop sign you will see the cut stone tunnel....no need to travel left to get a glimpse of it. Snap yer pic and turn right onto Twp Rd 13....following that narrow gravel and mud....curious now as it is raining like a son-of-a-gun....how that mud will be....anyway, back to directions. Follow Twp 13 out to county road 25 (not 70 as mentioned earlier....although if ya find 70 there is another cut stone tunnel (Baddow Pass)....at stop sign at CR25 turn right and follow it back to USR62. Stop sign there and straight ahead is SR206, but you would be turning left back onto 62 to return to your direction. If ya ain't into adventure bike, ATV back roads....take 514 north outa Danville to 520 and follow it back to 62 (just remember too the daily closing thru daytime for state working). Then too, just take SR36 East to SR715 and travel 715 to Walhounding and grab SR206 north backbtonthe aforementioned intersection of USR62, Holmes CR25 (older chip and sealed)....then y'all can turn right onto 62 and resume yer easterly trek. Haven't messed with the south side of 62 dirt roads lately....Cavillo Station....oooo, there's an idea.....do a run and everyone try and figure out where exactly Cavillo Station is and converge there....you will run out of paved roads....hint, should you choose to try that rally ride...you'd be around 8 miles away from Walhounding, in deep woods. AND, by this posting...you see I am still here.....we are not the Killbuck couple that crashed on SR93. Brad Yoder and wife, she was dead at scene and he was life-flighted. I can't add anymore than that......gotta go as I heard wife shrieking....it'sa humongous spider on the curtains...can you comr get it?
  3. AJ! I already tole ya all of the above : ) yeah, Keith from Warsaw was one, I forget who the second guy was that windowed his motor.... nice to see ya still lurking on bd., yah, and loved the picture of the new bike ya showed me. Smiles all around.
  4. Major, major, correction......in my early AM traveling stupor....i had misread the sign. The road is closing on 5/27 (with my addled thought of one month closed...I.e. 27 days)...NOT SO....it will be closed for 5 days. Project would be about 2 or 3 miles east of Holmes County line, from Danville direction. Again, the only go around looks like 514 (Danville) north to SR520....don't forget the daily closing of 520 for maint. work. Presumed that 520 would be allowed open on weekends. Unless you are on a dirt bike, ATV or adventure bike....then you could drop off and down into the woods on Twp Rd 5, just before the Road Closed barricade on USR62. A Very gravel road that snakes around and you could end up in and around Glenmont (eventually). I think Twp Rd 5 takes you to Twp Rd 7.... Left on twp rd 7 (if it actually is twp. rd. 7) and you are thru a cut stone tunnel passing under the once railroad line and end up back near Brinkhaven and Mohican River. Taking 7 right and you'll wind around thru the backwoods to come out on Co. Rd. 70 (?).... Being the county road opposite the termination of SR206 at USR62. Turning right at intersection of Twp Rd. 7 and onto CR70 will take you to USR62 and the north end of SR206. AND, i see that SR60 north of Killbuck, below the intersection of SR39, will be closed on 8/5, near Welcome (a turn that poses as a town). This too looks to be a culvert replacement.... Confused yet? Good luck.....
  5. This morning and....signage, USR62 will be closed for about a month. So leaving the area that all the paving scheduled is to be done, and once into Holmes Co. heading east from Danville and well before SR206 the road will be closed. Looked like a culvert replacement. No handy way around it. That is all....

    SR520

Got the scoop....daily closing of 520 and open at nite.....the official mantra is clearing right-of-way, as tree canopy contributes to pavement deteroration....dat spelled right? My take is ........ no tree tunnel to travel under....makes for clear shot by airborne drones.

    SR520

Opening and closing. I.e. yesterday PM barricades up - road closed 8 miles from USR62. Oming home at 6AM this morning and the barricades were turned sideways and moved to the shoulder. 8 miles from 62 puts you at Glenmont. Not sure what's doing...last time they closed it for cleaning ditch out and reopened short time later. Could very well be what is going on...routine maint. Won't be out and about until later...Iike Friday....
  8. Warehouse and former Thomas' is now owned by same guy. Bear's Den....on my list for this summer. All I have talked with say good food. Folks are split on service...some waited and waited others no problem. Bear's Den is east of Cambridge on 40. My yet to happen plan was ride to Bears Den 83, 209 to Cambridge, thru town to 40 and Bear's Den....head to Tom's in Zanesville for ice cream...then north back to Killbuckia central....prolee on SR60 If you are in Coshocton...there is the Yard...pasta place, but decent steaks. It is downtown near RR tracks....or Mexican at the Yucatan. Taking 541 up thru town and go straight from lite as 541 turns...you can see the Yucatan....bright colors on bldg.
  9. ...and thanks...looking for alternate routes for my visiting riders. Only got a clear shot using 36 to this area. Everything else looks like road work. So thanks for heads up on 79. Guess it'll be 16 to 586 and veer off of 541 for my traveling folks....
  10. Enjoy the trip no matter if trailering or riding. Spring is best, for me....early and no riders (like go right now) and it's warm with greenery showing. Stay at hotel in Knoxville and easy ride to 129....or venture to my former haunts at Lake Lure....Bat Cave and Chimney Rock. All the roads are great down there. Location ? Think Asheville between it and Hendersonville. I got it down to 7 hrs with trailer rig. I tend to think trailer as I wouldn't want to carry a broken bike home on my back. Ethanol is all I ever found down there. 2Tall mentioned Fontana(?) for real gas....check in folks, otherwise carry yer own fuel, hence the trailer thought. But have fun.....N Ca 28 is very nice. Seester sold her place so no free space no more...until she retires and moves back down yonder..

    Ride Saturday?

    Mt. Vernon....ha! A scant 40 mile commute.
  12. Ahhh, Grayling as well. Many, many trips there. Hartwick Pines. Bear Archery...but no Camp Grayling, ha, but camping. UP, not uncle punk up, Iron Mtn. And the Falls, upper and lower....and almost moved to Copper Harbor, year round population is 9....I think the snow marker there is like 25 foot, as in deep. Just out of Grayling is Bear Lake, guy there moved on to the UP as too many people now at Bear Lake....I think it was up to 5 or 6 cabins then. Bob Seeger has ( maybe had ) a place there....Dingman's Bar....yeah....thanks for the memories So all said and done .... Settled on civilization in Holmes County..... ; )
  13. Thanks.....perusing in three, two, one......

    SR60

SR60 is back under water. The section from Killbuck to Warsaw (Riverview High School) water over in many spots....if you use the back roads from Warsaw, CR22 and CR19, ya still get into the water over the bridge at Layland....but using CR 323 or is that Twp Rd. up over the hill and meandering out to USR62, changing road #'s at Holmes County line...same road new number after crossing jurisdictions ....you come out near the Sportsman Club...for you tourists, just by SR520. OR......wait a few days after dry weather and it'll be back down. Adventure bikes some really wonderful gravel roads that wander along the bottom and up into the hills...eventually you can arrive somewhere to avoid water. Most likely CR19....iffen you was heading northerly from Warsaw direction.
  15. Enjoying. Thanks for sharing. I have missed your UP report, and will need to back track. Smiled a lot on the accounts in the Pacific Northwest.....them were the days.....super deal....great adventure.
  16. Mike has sold his Busa as well as the Buell. The yrf something or other he had sits in a dealership in Mansfield....purportedly, no one has looked at it...the other Yamaha, something something letters....only headlite had fairing....no go down, just the style...has been sold...didn't even know about that one being available.... '99 Blackbird $3900 in Kansas, sorry can't get pics to stick..... The stuff is out there....
  17. CONFIRMING....SR520 reopened....they did ditch work for the portion near USR62, so just some mud and gravel along berm...'till it rains...oop, itz raining. SR229 near Gambier, also opened .... Culvert replacement (right in the apex) on turn. Concrete patch. The only remaing issue will be the resurfacing of USR62. From my end, Holmes County line and 22.5 miles of repave....then more sections running past Martinsburg/Utica. I leave you now....
  18. Early this AM...barricades are DOWN at 520 and 229. I will confirm road is actually open....vs.....Amish boys playing and moving barricades. Smiling. Will post up Friday, so y'all can plan yer weekend.
  19. 'Tis the season, falalala...lah. They ain't messed with 36.......yet.
  20. Good to hear from you, peeking thru your exploits. Friends from Ariz and Texas will some times mention that they had to turn on the air conditioner at home....while I am commenting on cold and snow. Safe travels and have an absolute great time.
  21. Psst....last part.....itza joke son....
  22. Rode the bike in next day 65* going in. 36* at 5AM, gloves not working, so stop at Danville and dig the ice fishing gloves out of back pack. Dug out more gear to layer up even more. Put on rain gear, not raining, but cut the wind kinda thought. More deer, this bunch moving, meaning stopped on highway as the six of 'em crossed in front of me...a parade? Better than the time outside of Danville when one darted out in front and the SV was sliding from hard braking and then the second deer ran behind me! Onto happier things....riding in that afternoon, wonderful day...finding more and more road closings and motorists funneled into less and less roads. Lotsa law enforcement 3 sheriffs and a statie in 20 some miles....at least the statie was friendly....she actually got out of her vehicle and stood by it and waved at me. So I waved back and continued on. Nice lady I thought .... If I wasn't running late for work, maybe I woulda stopped and talked.....as I went by, she was even more energetic with her greeting, waved both arms! Real friendly, I thought.....
  23. Whatever the next deal is that falls in my lap......but, thinking dual sport or Touring bike. Had looked at the big Beemers and the F800GT as well....dual sport, the BMW GS650, or the upgraded new 700. Maybe just a Ural with side car....and hunt up a machine gun mount and hang something intimidating off of it. /: > )
