Background: We have LONNNNGGGG since outgrown the building we have been in for the past 4 years. We have been looking at potential warehouse/office space to move into over the past year without really finding a good "Fit" for one reason or another. Some were too much. Some would need knocked down and completely re-built. Some had too short of ceilings for the lifts. Some were layed-out to where moving cars around would have been extremely difficult. Some were impossible to get to off a major highway (We have many many out-of-state customers). You get the idea... Because of the general noise of the shop/dyno we can only move into places that are either very industrial (Much like the location we are at now) or pretty ghetto (Or both lol). Since we are looking to buy a place I am probably over-thinking this a bit more but I am just wondering how much location effects your opinions or impressions of a shop? We aren't McDonalds so it doesnt need to be on Main St. or anything but I am trying to decide if we put a bunch of money into a building that isnt in the best of areas (But gain a ton more space) if that is better than spending more than we want on a shop (That will be much smaller) and having it be in a "Nicer" area that will just be more industrial? The benefit of moving into a larger shop 15-20K Sq Ft is that regardless of the area EVERYTHING could stay inside 24/7. A smaller (8-12K Sq Ft) shop in a "Nicer" but more industrial area might "Look" better but would offer less shop space and ability to expand down the road. I dunno. Thoughts? Jeff

Back on topic... I will get some pics taken / posted of the swap progress at this point and cant wait to take some vids of it on the dyno soon Jeff

They didnt have to on the early cars because their kits made no power with TINY turbos. The T28 turbo cars were probably close and anything larger (GT30s or bigger) and they did for sure (I called and asked them ). Most of the LPE TT cars were rated between 550-650 FLYWHEEL hp -- not 840+rwhp like Tilleys has already done on baby boost. Now, have they ever taken up close pics and announced to the owner it needed to be done? LOL. Sure. Look how many bad-ass APS TT C5/C6s are out there and every single one has had its frame "Altered" to allow the kit to fit because they wisely use GT35R turbos. OHHHH NOOOEEEESSSSS !!!!! Jeff

Was that a Z06 though?
-
Just quoted so that someday when pics of sledgehammers get posted for some stupid reason somebody just might remember this and realize that Tank is as good as they get. He did Tilleys car from top to bottom and that is why he was without a doubt my first choice to do yours. Personally I just cant wait to get our first one done and gone so we can get in another one Jeff

Back on topic... So about that poor fellow that has a blown up Z06 lol Jeff

Not a problem at all. As you can imagine, as a shop you want to alter as little as humany possible to anything on the car (Structural or otherwise). Hell, even just drilling tiny holes in various interior trim pieces for nitrous or gauges or boost controllers or whatever we always ask 10 times just to make sure we arent "Modifying" a stock piece that we didnt have to. When you are talking about structural pieces (Whether it be a frame rail or radiator support or the firewall) its simply common sense -- you never touch anything you dont absolutely have to. If / when you absolutely have to you effect as small an area as possible (Again, complete common sense). Why on earth anyone thinks you would take a Jackhammer to an area the size of a ping-pong ball is beyond me. Jeff
-
We hide them in every car we build as a kind of "Door prize" lol Jeff
-
They actually say "Dent" in every kits instructions I have ever read. For such a tiny area that needs altered you would be retarded to cut into the rail and attempt to re-weld. I will have to look at the APS instructions again to see how there's is worded but pretty sure they use "Dent" as well. Now the Incon kit on the Mustang flat-out demanded that a Soft-ball size section of the frame be cut in order for it to fit. The car looked great and made silly power, the install of the kit looked great, and if it werent for threads like this I would have never even paid any attention to the "Notched" frame rail. Frame-rail alterations weren't news worthy back in '88 when the Mustang TT kits started being sold or in '98 when the C5 kits first started coming out and it sure as hell isnt anything new now. Jeff

Newsflash: If it was a C5 or C6 and had turbos larger than 9bs then yes, the frame was certainly "Clearanced" to get the kit installed (Assuming it wasn't a STS). We had a very nice Twin Turbo Mustang in a couple weeks ago that I guess was "Ruined" because his frame was notched to hell and back to fit the turbo on the passenger side. I almost broke the news to him that his car was "Totaled" because somebody cut his frame but I just didnt have the heart lol. Jeff

How did anyone know it was from Columbus? Just curious. I personally know of no other black TT cars around here (Aside from Mike's LPE car but not sure if that is a Z06). Jeff

Congrats on finally getting into the 13s I hadn't heard but when did this happen? BTW -- by the trap speed I see you guys finally got everything sorted and running great -- Congrats! Jeff

Not Tilley's if that is what anyone is assuming. The car might be at Trails or Kilkare this week though... Jeff

Ok, much better. Well, in that case, Mike's car is really just a base Lancer with an EVO body kit and wing with a front-mounted Radiator and a wazoo to simulate BOV noises and of course a big exhaust tip. Those 103 traps from a couple years ago were a bit faster than he really needed on the street so he decided to sell it. However, he really liked the blue color and the EVO "Look" so the lancer has been down a few months for the paint and body work. I personally think it turned out nice Since he didn't even spring for the "Ralliart" version I am not sure how good a race it will be against an EVO trapping 130 (He might trap 86-89mph on a good day) but if you are willing to give him a few cars and the jump I am sure he would give it a try. Jeff

Trap is a little on the high side actually. ET is about right though Jeff

I sell a lot of Carbotech pads to the serious auto-x / road-race C5 guys but the Hawk HPS / HP+ are popular due to being a bit more friendly (Quieter / less dust) for street driving. Jeff

Just out of curiosity, is your car even done right now?

What would be the point -- everyone knows that a stock "Buschur" EVO (Assuming it does have a "Buschur" sticker on it) would beat a 600awhp 35R IPS EVO in its sleep so its a waste of gas/time dont you think? Now the real question is whether or not a stock "Buschur" EVO can walk a stock shorty IPS LS1 camaro off-spray. Any takers? Jeff

Wait til Mike has the boost turned up so your ride will be a bit more fun and Im sure he will take you up on it Jeff
