What 300ZX? We have quite a few Z customers so just curious... Jeff

Rank your car revisited... looks pretty accurate
Turbotrio replied to V8 Beast's topic in Passing Lane
I really didnt read down the list all the way but since hes at the top, what does Cavin have thats over 1000whp? The Unicorn is alive so after a week of break-in Ill have to see if I can study hard enough for a solid B+ Jeff -
If we were dishonest and just out to make a buck I wouldnt have said a word about the clutch and just put it back in as-is. Two weeks from now when it lets go completely we then get paid to do the work twice and he still has to buy a clutch and fly. Which would you prefer? Just for the record, Shawns car has had poor oil pressure issues all summer so the clutch hasnt had a single opportunity to slip yet. Even a dead clutch (and his is dead dead) will hold fine if you are in "Daily" mode 24/7. Jeff

Happy B-Day Mike! Have a great weekend and enjoy it. Jeff

He is at work right now but yes he does. Not sure on the brand or #s off the top of my head. He bought the car with the 383 already installed so none of the build / install was done around here... Jeff
-
I was joking with Shawn and told him they were his injector o-rings lol
-
If it wasnt for having to get a new clutch / fly in here the car would have only been down for a couple days so it really isnt THAT big of a deal Jeff
-
Shawn can post up his Clutch / Flywheel pics for anyone and everyone to critique all day long. Since the previous owner installed some clutch I have never heard of (Yellow PP) it should be pretty easy to verify its the original for you conspiracy theorists. The flywheel and disc are gone. Bad news sucks but I am just the messenger Good news is that there are no signs of bearing material in the pan or oil so hopefully its just an engine pull and not an engine build.. Jeff

Its been a little while since I have driven it, but the clutch isnt a "problem" as it works fine for normal driving. Its just a stock clutch that isnt capable of holding if driven hard. The only other complication is that due to the tranny being much newer than the engine you have to get an Exedy unit that is around $1500-1600. But honestly its a bit like saying that it is a "problem" that the car only runs 8psi when there is no boost controller in it Its a very cool car and incredibly unique. Is it 100% perfect as-is? No, but that has as much to do with body/paint as it does a clutch or boost controller. Its worth wayyyy more than $9k IMO so I dont think their asking price is unfair at all. Jeff

I loved that car. Its a shame he never put a good clutch in it to really drive it. With an ecu flash, more boost, and an Exedy clutch that is a really cool sleeper car. Definetly unique Jeff

Most are in the 3600-3800 Lb range but can easily run 12s with the tiny stock turbos and just bolt-ons. To run 11s or better it gets a wee bit more expensive unless you dont mind adding a 75-shot. Jeff

LOL -- very true. I just counted and we have 14 VR4s in the shop this morning (not counting mine) and probably enough spare parts to build a 15th If you drove around the city all month long you would be lucky to find more than a handfull so yeah, they are pretty rare cars -- especially the 94+ second generation cars. There are quite a few quick ones running around now but most of the guys arent the street-racing type so you most likely wont be seeing them in any vids anytime soon. Ill hopefully be changing that if we ever find a couple days to finish mine up lol. Jeff

With 150K on the clock a tranny build honestly isnt a big deal or unexpected IMO. It all depends on how good a deal you got or will get on the car to offset the potential pitfalls of unexpected repairs you might incur. We have cars come thru the shop with 7k miles and some with 207k miles and they are all different. The tranny and t-case issues are very well documented and you can find used replacements pretty easily online. Stock-ish cars have been very reliable dailys well into the 200k mile range. Call me at the shop anytime this week (614-444-5884) and I would be more than happy to discuss the highs and lows of the car and what I would look for up front to make sure you arent getting into a huge money pit. Jeff

Glad to hear she crossed the 750hp mark you were looking for with relative ease lol. Hopefully you can keep her from spinning into 5th gear now and just wished I would have been there to watch it. Gas is just over $6 a Gallon here in Sweden so very few "Cool" cars around. 7 out of every 10 cars you see is a station wagon lol. One black 996 911 turbo has been about it. Goodluck this weekend Tilley and keep the shiny side up Make sure to get some good vids! Jeff

Got them in stock

Ours was a RB25 in a 300ZX Jeff

Nope. Stock fuel pump just got hot from a long night and needed to take a breather Jeff

Glad we got everything worked out in time and nice to hear she did well -- congrats on the times Jeff

???? There are 4 threads about us (IPS) on the first page and they are all very positive. To be honest that is the norm 9.999999 times out of 10. Now Anthony on the other hand... Thanks for the post Joe and it was no problem at all. Jason was just here to mingle and be ready in case he was needed for dyno-duty so he was more than happy to help out. I wanted to see what the 7 was going to do so you will have to swing her by once its all ready to go Jeff
-
Actually they did -- that day anyway. I think I have 7-9 graphs in the 900s and lower 1000 range where the tires didnt spin at all. He did 105x and it was rock solid. Last two pulls were 106x and 1073 the tires spun at the very end of each and that was it for the day (we ran out of time). Patrick even told me how amazed he was that it didnt spin at all until the last couple pulls w/o any added weight. I dont think he was running "full" boost yet (30+) so it obviously had more in it. Anyway, the previous street car record-holder was Jason on here with the blown Viper at 666rwhp. The new street-car record holder is somewhere between that 666 and the Novas 1073 "JoeFarmers" Dodge Ram has everyone covered in the Trq dept Jeff
-
Yep, that was him They mentioned doing a few 3rd and 4th gear pulls on the way back to the shop so you must have had a good seat lol. Jeff
-
Yeah, it was definetly flying. Even before I saw your first lap time my wife leans over and says "He just looks so much faster than everyone else so far". Glad the coilovers helped out so much. You could easily hear the difference from the K&N out on the track (much like the dyno). Jeff

Nahhhh -- its slow. Rumor has it that it barely broke 500awhp Jeff
