Our old Kia, whcih has become the family beater won't start... Got in last week, turned the key, heard 'click' then nothing Waited a couple mins tried again, nothing Think its possibly battery related(lights,radio work), put the car on the charger all day Try again when I get home, nothing Hook up the multimeter, battery is newer and juiced up I begin to think its the starter Check the fuses, none blown Check the Relay, it looks fine, swap it with another, nothing Decide to put a jumper on the relay, viola! Engine cranks! Get back in the car, starter can now be heard.... Thats where I am. One thing that confuses me is why bypassing the relay made a difference..did I reset something when I jumped it? Where should I go? I'm leaning towards checking the fuel pump, it has 166k miles and I don't think the wife ever replaced the fuel filter. When I hooked up the OBD scanner to check for codes I read some Live data and I'm pretty sure it said the injectors were 100%..not sure if the device is accurate.

Sorry to everyone in the thread that has hit rock bottom or lost someone close...that was not my motive to call you out. Just remember you always have someone to talk to on the CR hotline @ http://www.columbusburacing.com or 1.800.273.8255 I've been friends with and/or known multiple individuals who have OD'd on purpose or flat out killed themselves; more than one person should (we're talking double digits). This past week marked the 2nd anniversary that I lost 2 very close friends to a type of Sarcoma (30ish yrs old), but their battle took years; it was not pretty and very painful. My friends fought so hard and endured so much, that they never asked for, only to succumb to what they did not want. Death. I get angry and very bitter. I guess physical pain doesn't always trump mental pain...that's just something I'll never understand.

Lets talk about it. I'm no newbie to the subject, literally can't count the people I know who have done it or outright OD'd. I've also lost a couple good friends recently to Cancer...and I've become very bitter about it. Robin Williams and Anthony Bourdain are some of my favorite guys to watch, now I have animosity towards them for leaving in such a 'selfish' way. Anyone else bitter on the subject?

Good responses, thanks for the support. I always forget about the crazy hormones. And yes JP, the baby was planned. We have been together 15yrs, married for 5...I wouldn't say we were trying hard for a baby, but we weren't preventing either.

I'm going to prefece this with a little of caution but I'm an expecting dad. I know a lot of people are different and not all relationships are equal. Some people are super into their kids and others are just, meh. We have a baby girl who is coming in a couple weeks, July 17th if she's on time. One and done is the plan. I'm older, the wife is older; we're gonna be the parents at graduation riding wheelchairs. My wife came to me crying tonight because she's terrified that I will love the baby more than her, that I'm so about the baby and not her. I'm just trying to get myself amped up about having a baby, I'm not really a baby guy. So, the question I want to ask(which is kinda shitty)...if the worst came down, the ship is sinking...would you save your kid or wife/husband? Who would get the first life raft? Just curious....I know answers will vary. We still love each other

Searched for tatoos and the last post I found was 2014. Any recommendations for a place or artist to go to for a tat....nothing special(pending), just some letters for a name(having a baby and getting the name on my forearm), price is not an object if the quality is decent. Well then...Tim just schooled me in detaling. I feel so inadequate now. I've done wet clay and polished my speedy cars before but the whole 'sealant' is somewhat new to me. Can you also recommend a brush? Had a california duster but it put swrils in my paint on older cars.

We just picked up a mint 2012 Escalade Platinum and its Black...the wife was pulled into some 'coating' Facebook page where they spray your car and the water and dirt just 'disappears'. It was like $500 and its a spray-on application. Just seems like nonsense. The car already has a cherry wax job, better than some of my old show cars, feels like satin (I wouldn't be surprised if it already had some kind of sealant). I said I'd ask my fellow car nerds what's the best top-coat or whatever to keep a Black car somewaht clean. What do you guys use? I know a couple are professional detailers.

Sold the SRT Ram to buy a family vehicle, narrowed it down to a couple vehicles that couldn't be any more different. Gonna pull the trigger on either an Audi SQ5 or an older model Platinum Escalade. Audi is newer, half the miles...quick, nimble, awesome in the snow, but it lacks room especially with the the baby seat and it can be pricey to work on. Caddy is a little older but plush, roomy, cheap parts....though its a gas hog and not as engaging to drive. Any advice? The both have pros and cons...WWCRD?

Hah, consider yourself lucky. Mine only has 147k and it has been an absolute terd, that's with deletes, head studs, etc. Hindsight is 20/20. Electrical grimlins, HPOP went out, weak injectors, etc. The fact that Ford desinged this truck to run the way it does, I was on 161 at 50mph and the IPR took a crap, the engine shut down, I was at the mercy of momentum and no power steering; the truck was dead.

This. Not a lot of love for the PSD around here, get a good set of tools. Maybe try Lucore Automotive, they have a fetish for PowerStrokes, I don't know if they do tuning but they may point you in a good direction. Other than that shop around the truck forums and buy an SCT to be tuned by someone online.
