I've had a Penfed card (http://www.penfed.org) for about a year and a half now. I love it. It works great because I really only use it for the two main things they give cash back on: Earn 2.00% cash back on supermarket purchases Earn 5.00% cash back from gas purchases paid at the pump Earn 1.00% cash back from all purchases you make with the card during each billing cycle If I have to buy something big that I'm gonna pay off anyway, I'll use it just to get that 1%. I routinely get back $30 - $40 each month, which is like a free tank of gas...

I should also say that I didn't have any credit card debt. I had a top notch credit rating as well. It was a matter of cutting out any extras so that I could pay off the last car loan before my wife gave birth and quit her job. So I'm not really a good resource for what this guy is going through.

Most of it is a scam. Some of them are legit, but you have to research them to be sure.

Another vote for Dave Ramsey. There will be no quick fix to the problem. You really have to commit to spending as little as possible on the "nice to have's" in life. And pay everything off as quickly as you can. I've been debt free for nearly 6 months now. Paid everything off right before my wife had her baby. Own all 6 cars and my boat. Just owe on my house. It takes dedication and a lot of focus. Good luck to him...

That's a good one, but not all dogs really like those. When my Labs were younger, they chewed them on and off. But anything with a squeaker, particularly my Lab Sandi, she had to get that squeaker out. Now that they're older, they rarely chew that stuff. They sleep most of the time now...

Yeah, that's just a turn around for my driveway. I prefer not to use a snowblower or plow on my driveway, as it's gravel. So I get down as far as I can go without throwing stones all over my lawn. I've lived here since 2002 and only had my driveway plowed twice. I prefer to shovel it, if I can...
